absolutely nowhere am i not respecting akira here. grooming is a condemnation of the GROOMER, which is the grown person who knows better, is in a position of higher power, and takes advantage of young and impressionable kids. 14-15 having a sexual relationship a 20 year old man is not appropriate in the slightest, and this whole thing was textbook grooming, i mean, “how about another secret?” really? couldn’t have been more cliche if they TRIED. yes, kanda stopped bc he felt bad, but it was because of the whole using each other thing, there was no mention of him going after a kid. and again, akira didn’t need to apologize at all bc he wasn’t the one w the power in the relationship.
and seriously bro don’t pull the legal consensual card on me… something being legal doesn’t mean it’s moral or right automatically. i think you have a misunderstanding of why people don’t like this plot

the whole thing w akira and kanda would’ve been useful if they actually addressed and condemned the grooming. i was kinda hoping kanata would throw in a “and he shouldn’t have done that to you” while he was discussing their relationship, but i don’t know why i had a sliver of hope 😭 so much about akira believing himself to be manipulative but not a single mention about kanda? and a note on the age - we can assume kanda’s the same age (or something near) as hikaru, so 23. akira is probably 17-ish around this time as well since it mentions senior year. that’s SIX years. right after middle school, he’s what, 14 or 15? kanda would’ve been 20-21. i’m actually shocked they went w that and were like hm yeah the only problem w this relationship is them using each other to do some balance bs
otherwise i really did like it, it kept going in directions i wished it would apart from that and it was great. funny story, i literally said “wow his hair in middle school was so cute i hope it makes a comeback” AND HELLO IT LITERALLY DID THAT NEVER HAPPENS YO
This doesn’t mean he liked them when they were “younger”. He saw children in need as they were getting beaten…
the age gap isn't the problem, it's that he raised them and then developed feelings. it's not even that he was also a kid at that point when he saved them, but there was a huge maturity gap there. if you raised two young children as an older person, even if they're now "of age" it's strange that you have any romantic connection
I don't know how you came to this conclusion but both the show and the book showed that Qing Long adopted them…
okay, so i didn't say he fell in love with them as kids, i meant that it's weird that he pretty much raised them as an older person and ended up marrying one who was already young enough when she met him as he was an adult, and him being in love LATER with the one who was even younger. regardless of the age gap 8-10 years is strange enough. the maturity difference between an 18-20 year old vs a 10 and 13 year old is stark, and so any romantic feelings past that point is like. weird. even if they grew up.
i think what gmmtv needs are more of these short stories so there’s no room to ruin the series w some over convoluted plot… aside from that this was so peak their chemistry in h2h was amazing ofc but *** failed them (called it) so im glad it shines here
