i would argue, again just imo, that the standard set by thai bls doesn’t extend to all bls as a whole. taiwan, in contrast, loves a bl without a hea and yet who would call either story from history3 or smile after tears not bls? i feel japan tends to be somewhere in between

people on this site don't like their bls to address complex social issues like homophobia imo. just speaking generally here, of course, but look at the reception of other jbls like happy of the end or smells like green spirit. still rated decently but not as high as they deserve (again imo) and without nearly as high viewership counts as i would expect considering they are of higher quality (in terms of production, don't @ me) than fluffier jbls like school trip or this one.
