Little Hunger & Great Hunger

Based on the short story, Barn Burning by Haruki Murakami

An intriguing account on searching for meaning in life. The themes of classism, mental health and even women's rights stood out for me. Comparing a Ben to Gatsby, while that he is contemplating his own "simultaneous existence" through the "morals of nature", an interesting habit manifests. The balance of being here and there at the same time. You can feel how psychologically unhinged Lee Jong-su becomes becomes throughout the entire film due to his love. For the first time I heard the saying "there's no country for women" mentioned in cinema. Sad, but there is truth to this too. Seeing the same personality and class type in the beginning as well as the end of the film in two different female characters.

Overall, the world remains a mystery.

A simple, sad, & beautiful Woman's film

I love films based on books and the director truly did an amazing job of telling this story.

I really enjoyed how the absence and presence of music created the perfect scene. Each character and the acting behind it was very thought provoking; there is always so much to life. The sisterly connection was simple, but powerful (probably exactly how my sisters & I act towards one another). As with most woman's films this one seems very underground, with small hints as to why it's titled the way it is, but I found that the women-centered narratives were very organic and true.

A great feminist film find!

You are my greatest love, but you are also my greatest pain

In a seamless manner, Write About Love (2019) draws a connection between the main couples lives with the story of the couple and script that they are creating. A lot of perspective on love and the ways in which we love, the film's main focus is the fact that love and pain go hand in hand.

Personally, I am not convinced with the idea that there is no "true love" with out pain, but overall it is a very sweet and heart-warming story.

they call them.... PRESSTITUTES

A war on investigate journalism and freedom of the press. In this documentary, different angles of the same story are told, while also tracking Maria Ressa’s story. Overall, it is quite interesting to see certain political and democratic moves "ported" into the Western World. I do wish they would have dived into more of the history of democracy & free speech in the Philippines.

“A politics of hate” — with apathy, injustice and misinformation dividing all people.

AMAZING!.... thats all

First things first... this film is STUNNING! ?✨

Everything about it is beautiful and really brings the manga/anime to life in this adaptation. The ACTING is impeccable, every scene flows beautifully and is so believable for me as a viewer.
Next, I love the COLOR, and lack there-of. Every color that is present in this film provides so much purpose and passion for the story, from the boxing gloves all the way to the dresses and suits. Which leads me to the costume&design, that is simply perfect for placing the audience in that time period.
Lastly, the CINEMATOGRAPHY, which again contains amazing angles, close-up shots, and rack focus throughout the entirety of the film.
It's really for these three reasons that I think this film is sports masterpiece!

MY FIRST K-DRAMA

During quarantine I decided to venture out of the western-hollywood scene and explore more international titles. This drama was the very first k-drama I came across and I absolutely LOVED it! The cast & characters were amazing and fully entertaining the entire time. I expected the show to be more romance than anything else, but to me it was definitely more of a Drama-Comedy. I love the family dynamic, it felt very classic; I love the female lead actress/character; and I love love the "thug boss" character (I could not stop laughing every time I saw him). The villain was questionable at times, but very interesting and I did not expect the end outcome. Overall, it is now a staple in my list and something I would recommend to any/everybody!
