Both movies might not be among the highlighted works in the portfolio of those actors, nonetheless, both are hilarious and entertaining works.

Nagisa is 17 years old and attends 2nd grade in high school. He is apart from his parents and lives alone in the seaside town of Fujisawa in Kanagawa. He is passionate about surfing and works at a bathhouse in a hostel on the island Enoshima linked to Fujisawa. Shun is the same age as Nagisa and visits Fujisawa for spring break. They meet and develop a relationship more than friendship. However, the surfing equipment store owner’s daughter Chika has been secretly in love with Nagisa.

- in both dramas we're dealing with bickering couples
- ML is spoiled but kindhearted, he becomes a better person because of MF
- MF is kind, helpful and tough, she doesn't give up easily

Both are female centric dramas, although To Dear Myself is a lot heavier on the heart/they take a more realistic and less idealized viewpoint on life.

The both have a similar plot where the male lead has a sick grandparent who wants to see him fall in love and marry a girl so they end up having a contract marriage.

Both deal with fangirling. In Record of Youth the female lead starts a relationship with the object of her fangirling wherein Her Private Life, the female lead becomes closely intertwined.

Same creator. A spin off of Gameboys, Some of the cast such as the male leads would take cameo in the show. It also has similar themes as love during pandemic and the use of video calls and social media as interaction between the characters.

Both dramas have a ML who is sickly, weak but highly intelligent and masterminds of everything, at the same time somewhat charismatic. Both FL are good at fighting and becomes intangle with ML due to some past who needs to be investigated. Both have similar humour and quirks, but The Moon Brightens for You is more comedy than Love in Between.
