Both are Chinese dramas set in the 1970s and have a strong emphasis on everyday life and human relationships.
Both deal with themes of romance and personal growth, albeit in different proportions (in "Love Story in 1970s," romance is more prominent).

- Both belong to the "family drama" genre

"Love Story in the 1970s" also features a significant romantic theme (double pairing) absent from "The Bond"

Same actress, similar story where she tries to save her family and falls in love with a family friend! Same era too: the 90s.

A similar formula is used here, with the lead character obsessed with the girl and unable to resist meeting her. He possesses a fantastic trait that makes him both addicted to her and fiercely protective of her. Excellent chemistry and cool special effects!
