Both films have a similar vibe.

Both are sad, emotional movies with superb acting.

These chinese movies are extremely similar. If you liked one, you'll definitely enjoy the other. They are by far my favorite chinese movies.

Both tell the story of a poor, homeless boy hiding from the police and living a difficult life who meets someone that changes his life, a little kid in Stand by Me and a high school girl in Better Days.

Both star a member of the TFBoys in the leading role. Jackson Yee for BD and Karry Wang for SBM.

They share a similar bleak cinematography style.

Both are sad, emotional stories with a glimmer of hope.

Both have superbe acting.

Both are historical mini dramas with a love/hate relationship between the leads, with the FL out for revenge and believing the ML betrayed her in the past.

Both are short length dramas in which a couple breaks up, only to reunite years later at which point the ML discovers he has a young daughter. Both MLs have a disapproving mother who tries to force them apart.

Both couples break up due to misunderstandings and the ML wrongly believing the FL lied to him and used him. They reunite years later with the ML discovering the FL was pregnant when they broke up and he now has a young child with a health condition. Both MLs at one point move into the FL's home uninvited. There is a SML who has been taking care of the FL and the child and who loves her, but she only sees him as a friend.
