This is a love story between Akira Kuroiwa, a 15-year-old boy who knows nothing of love, and Hijiri Suenaga, his new 25-year-old homeroom teacher. One fated summer, Akira begins to realize he has feelings for Hijiri, but Hijiri has a long distance fiancee. The story follows the pair over the course of several years.
Hina, a student at Nikko High School, goes out one evening with her classmate Beniko. They get split up and Hina ends up in a strange meeting with a man named Ikumi in a game arcade. The next day, Ikumi turns up as the new teacher at her school. Ikumi doesn't seem to recognize Hina but the wheels of fate are slowly moving to reunite them in what is a passionate story of forbidden love.
One of the main underlying themes of this drama is death. Another important theme is the struggle Hina and Ikumi have in trying to realize the difference between love and dependence... or is there a difference?
Not just a remake of the 1993 version; it takes place at the same school, but with different characters and situations.

Both are slow paced, poignant films about North Korean defectors. Both portray the MLs' relationships with their mothers.
One day, Akihiro Miyata, a mid-level editor at a business magazine, visits popular university associate professor Takashi Iwanaga to ask him to write an economics column. However, that person was his first love, whom he broke up with during his high school days! It has been more than ten years since he moved to Tokyo.
Miyata, who had completely sealed off the past where he had a big love affair to the point where he promised to elope, was able to find a girlfriend who was thinking of marrying him and was living a “normal” life. Even after they meet again by chance, Miyata treats him as a business partner and vows never to fall in love with Iwanaga again.
However, he is as beautiful and talented as ever… Iwanaga’s pace, which repeatedly speaks sweetly to him… His work and private life are at the mercy of him!? Ideals, reality, pride… An over-30 boy who can’t be as honest as he used to be meets his soulmate again. What will happen to this frustrating “second” love, full of tactics…!?

TEP had the folk fantasy elements that SToTD promised. Their similarities in this sense lie mostly within the first case of SToTD, including...
- Lots of martial arts
- Dark culty vibe
- Forsaken brides
- Demons of all kinds
- Two bickering men

In both dramas a group of people find themselves at a strange place without any way to contact their home or families. They are trying to survive and find a way back while forming their own social dynamics within their group.
The FL has a passion for dubbing (not singing)
She is cute and hardworking
The ML is a bit arrogant CEO-type with a heart of gold
He has a secret identity
The FL struggle to enter the industry and the two fall for each other.
There is also some funny moments with the second leads. It is sweet, funny and charming.
I would argue that it is better than "My Special Girl".

Very similar premise but Live is a Korean production…. Very realistic, but I actually preferred the Live plot. It had a lot more depth… and I really ended up crying….
Both drama is romance about teacher & student with age gap. Forbidden love theme. Male student and female teacher.
