Set in the 90s, the ost, background scores, and color grading aptly bring out the elements of nostalgia. Amazing acting and story. Both dramas have captured relationships with parents, siblings, neighbors, friends, or partners in a very realistic and raw form. They are definitely my top comfort dramas that feel like a warm hug, something I'd go to when feeling down.
ML starts out gentle and kind, then his family is stolen from him, he is presumed dead, and his personality shifts into revenge and hatred for those responsible. He returns and reunites with FL who helps him heal/reunite with what's left of his family. The tones are similar and both have happy endings despite being darker stories.
The main characters have suffered trauma and are emotionally and physically damaged. ML doesn't value his own life much and comes across as a tough character at first but later has the softest heart toward the FL. Hopeful ending, despite all the suffering. Also similar tones and city night scenes.
Tawan lives with Yuanjai, her aunt-in-law, and her daughter Yadfa as servants. Yhod, her uncle once made a promise to his friend Trong to arrange a marriage between their children. Yadfa refuses it, thinking that Tomorn, Trong's son, is a rustic and poor guy, who is also in a relationship with Bunlaeng. They don't make any money, just spend Yuanjai's money. One day, Tomorn gives his hand to pay a debt for Yuanjai, so she allows Tawan to marry him as Yadfa. At Tomorn's house, she's always bullied by Sawai, his mother, Gingkaew, the nanny of his sister and Sopit, his friend who has a crush on him
The main characters have deep emotional wounds and trauma and start to heal with each other's help. There's also a scene where ML clings to/hugs FL that reminds me so much of a similar scene in the other drama. Both feature happy endings after much suffering and heartbreak.

Characters bonding over their shared loneliness and trauma and healing together. Both are sad stories with happy endings and both are Korean dramas.
If you are loving Sh**ting Stars then you may want to check The Producers, both dramas are about the life behind the camera. The story revolves around the dynamic work and life of people who work in the entertainment division of television network. Aside from that we need to mention the cast of The Producers in the main roles we have IU, Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun but not only that..we also get Kim Jong Kook known for his work in the uber popular Runnin Man tv show. To say the least, the cast is not a problem. Give it a try you may end up loving it.
this is also a story about chinese doctors who are in Navy and they're on a hospital ship, visiting developing nations and give them medical aids for free
Similar in tone and setting but very different plots. Very devoted ML who won't give up on FL.

Character pretends to be a eunuch (FL vs, ML) which causes confusions in other main character's feelings toward them. Mix of light and serious moments. Historical setting.
Same actress as FL. Her character goes through many hardships and a lot of growth. Both are slower paced dramas with similar tone and setting.
FL and SML is the same actress and actor in both and SML dies in front of her, in love with her, in both dramas. Misunderstandings and sacrificing between both couples. Similar tone and setting.
FL is only female student at male academy, there to fulfill her deceased brother's wishes . The time period is different but both are historically set.
