One film tells the story of a hotel that caters to people who want to commit a suicide, while the other focuses on a little shop that gets frequently visited by people who want to leap off of nearby cliff. Both have kind of similar, bleak vibe to them

The FL ends up getting plastic surgery on her face before entering university, after being bullied for her looks all her life. She only does so with the help of her mom without her dad finding out. Now with the face she's always wanted, she's considered as one of the most attractive girls in her department. But the complex she's had and the fact she had her entire face redone is something she wants no one to find out about. -

Hong Shim's family is brutally murdered with the exception of her and her older brother as they escaped. They're later separated as her brother hides her and uses himself as bait to lure away the people sent to kill their family away from her. He ends up being caught and is forced to work for the same person who kills his family in order to protect his sister. Crown prince Lee Yul or Won Deuk (the name he is given by Hong Shim's adopted father after he finds him with his memories gone) set a decree as a crown Prince before losing his memories that every single woman 28 and older must marry. And because of this law combined with his memory/ identity loss, he becomes Hong Shim's husband due to a lie her father spun out and she played along with to avoid being flogged.

Both are historical movies about courtesans. Theres talk about wanting someone to buy their freedom and one guy is involved with two courtesans, which causes conflict. Both films are visually stunning as well.

Both have very brave female leads. Both during war time. Male leads in military or police. Lots of scary and dangerous moment. War is tragedy

Good acting and amazing cast, nice cinematography, pleasant costumes, although very political but the plotline is comprehensible, relatively good storytelling, very little romance, depiction of some historical figures seems mostly convincing

Both films are quite similar in many ways. The stories in both films are based in countrysides. The films are about the gay struggles which most LGBT couples experience in real life. I love such kinds of films. One of the male lead is gay father with daughter.
