beautiful story and a lesbian treat!
i don’t particularly indulge myself in romance content. i prefer action and thriller. however, i can tell a good movie when i see one.this movie was absolutely beautiful. it brought about a pure love story that defies all obstacles. although the love between the main characters was pure, their circumstances was far from it. personally i felt a deep sympathy towards lady hideko and pride. for sook-hee it was adoration and admiration.
their love story was something unexpected in their lives. they appeared in each other’s lives at the perfect time. they both needed each other.
the plot twists were amazing and unexpected. after the first plot twist, i let out a huge gasp in surprise. i was tricked into thinking the movie was over until saw the duration and realised otherwise. the second plot twist was emotional and a pleasant surprise.
i was cheering them and their love on. it was just like the first cherry blossoms of spring.
the acting was nothing less than phenomenal! kim min-hee and kim tae-ri did a spectacular job portraying their roles. their chemistry together was off the charts. i could see the gayness literally overflowing. i have to point out that tae-ri’s abs and minhee in kimonos and suits was my favourite thing ever in the movie. this movie made me love tae-ri more than i already do and i didn’t think it was possible. she should take on many more queer roles!
it’s definitely for adult audiences (17+ish). however the nudity and sex scenes added to the story and were placed very timely.
i have to give special honour to the last scene. it was beautiful. it tied everything together well. it has small details/symbols that were talked about earlier in the movie. the scene will be much more impactful if you pick up on the small nuances. the bells ringing at the end were perfection and they mirrored wedding bells so perfectly.

if you are a straight person, religious, support the clean cenima , don't like to watch in movies the Nude sences , lisbians or Gays , dirty perverted men or you don't like to see your favorite actress (or it was) naked and do it with another woman in front of Camira and director so you will see how is that move is a pure piece of shit like I saw it ... this movie is not for you or for me ... Just RUN ...RUN ...BUT ... if your are form LGBTQ+ community , love erotic movies and love seeing naked women all the time on TV or the narcissistic prevent sotries , congratulations .. you found the best (almost porn) movie in the world ...
I watched this movie by incident just because I found Kim Tae Ri's name on it and I never noticed that tages and R Rate before watch it ... Man I want to lose my memory to forget this crap I watched... I was so disgusted and revolted even i didn't finish the movie ... If I want to watch porn or GL or BL we have many sites that provide it so why do that industry force us to watch it in Movies !! just why !? ...

I will love this movie FOREVER
I watched this in 2022, after I realized some of my friends have already recommended me but I was neglected. After watching this I could say the movie has changed my life in so many ways and I'm happy I've found my new favorite actresses (Kim Minhee and Kim Taeri, and more..) I love everything about this movie, including the director, production team, every staff, and the MUSIC! I will forever keep this movie in my heart and their love story will never fades away from me. i love the lesbians
long and confusing at first, due to the entire plot of being set in the olden S.Korea v Japan days. I made the mistake of watching some YouTube reviews before I watched the movie, so the plot twists were spoiled for me. Watch it going in blind and with an open mind.I think Kim Tae Ri was brave as a rookie actress taking on the role when she knew that full nudity (and more) was required, and she is amazing. She fully deserves all the awards she got afterwards.
The chemistry between Kim Min Hee and Kim Tae Ri was great and it's a pity that the controversy about Kim Min Hee's personal life overshadowed her acting in this film.
This is the first film I've seen from director Park Chan Wook, so I'm curious to see his past works and his latest one, Decision To Leave.
The Handmaiden is a masterpiece movie and highly recommended.

The movie makes you uncomfortable, but that just means that the acting is that good, didn’t expect this much s*x scenes but love the representation, they lowkey sexualized it tho, i love the plot twist it was amazing. Everything made sense at the end, the ending was satisfying and i love the music, and the way of filming the lighting everything. It was a whole new fascinating experience watching this movie. I'd definitely recommend it to people i know, and would love to rewatch it with my friends to see their reactions lol. Overall 8.5/10.Was this review helpful to you?
Ma Critique de "Mademoiselle" : Un Film Captivant et Plein de Surprises
Dès les premières minutes, Mademoiselle m'a complètement captivée. Le film a une ambiance un peu sombre, mais c'est fait avec beaucoup de goût. J'ai été éblouie par la beauté des images et la façon dont tout est filmé. C'est vraiment un plaisir pour les yeux !Au début, j'étais plutôt détendue en regardant, mais très vite, le film a commencé à me surprendre avec des rebondissements inattendus. J'ai été tenue en haleine jusqu'au bout, et c'est ça que j'ai adoré : on ne s'ennuie jamais ! L'histoire est maline, et même si elle peut sembler compliquée, on se rend compte que tout était pensé dès le départ, et que chaque scène a son importance. Le rythme du film est juste parfait, ni trop lent, ni trop rapide. Et malgré les surprises, je n'ai jamais été perdue, j'ai trouvé ça vraiment intelligent.
Les personnages sont tous fascinants. J'ai particulièrement aimé Hideko, que j'ai trouvée sous-estimée au début mais qui se révèle très forte. La relation entre les deux femmes est au cœur du film et elle est magnifique. On ressent plein d'émotions différentes en les voyant interagir. J'ai trouvé que la façon de montrer l'amour entre deux femmes était très bien faite, même dans les scènes intimes, c'est traité avec beaucoup d'élégance et de justesse. D'ailleurs, tous les acteurs sont vraiment incroyables.
Le film se passe en Corée et au Japon à une certaine époque, et ça ajoute une vraie dimension à l'histoire. C'est bien de découvrir un peu de cette période. La musique est toujours bien choisie, elle accompagne bien les scènes.
Mademoiselle parle de beaucoup de choses importantes : la tromperie, la séduction, le désir, et surtout, la place des femmes dans la société. Le film critique la façon dont le corps des femmes est perçu par les hommes, et ça donne vraiment à réfléchir. C'est un film qui porte des messages forts et qui invite à la discussion.
Je n'ai pas encore eu le temps de voir toutes les analyses sur le film, mais je suis sûre qu'elles m'aideront à comprendre encore plus de choses et peut-être à changer ma vision de certains sujets.
En bref, si vous aimez les films bien ficelés, avec une intrigue passionnante et des images superbes, je vous recommande vraiment Mademoiselle. C'est une expérience cinématographique unique que vous n'oublierez pas de sitôt !

Odio que siempre se justifique las cosas por amor. No entiendo porqué al final traicionan al chico. Era el plan de los dos meter a la sirvienta al manicomio. E incluso el chico tenía un plan para sacarla de allí pero no, es un hombre; y esta es una película de GL, pongámosle como el malo cuando realmente no lo es. Él no tiene la cupla de lo que su tío la hizo pero la pagan con él.Hubiera preferido que la película acabe con ellas huyendo a vivir su amor y él por su lado con la mitad del dinero. No se merecía lo que las dos le han hecho al final.

A trama se sustenta em camadas de mistério, trapaça e manipulação. Nada é exatamente o que parece, e o roteiro brinca constantemente com as expectativas do público. Quando se acredita que o clímax foi alcançado, uma nova revelação surge e reorganiza completamente o entendimento da história. Esse jogo narrativo é um dos grandes trunfos do filme, fazendo com que suas quase três horas passem de forma surpreendentemente fluida.
O romance entre as duas protagonistas é central e tratado com sensibilidade e intensidade. A relação se desenvolve de maneira gradual, explorando desejo, cumplicidade e libertação, sem cair na vulgaridade gratuita. As cenas mais sensuais existem para servir à narrativa e à construção das personagens, reforçando a carga emocional da história e a complexidade da ligação entre elas.
Ha Jeong-woo, como o protagonista masculino, funciona como uma peça essencial nesse tabuleiro psicológico. Sua presença constante cria tensão, conflito e desequilíbrio, atuando como uma barreira simbólica e narrativa entre as duas mulheres. O trio principal apresenta uma química impressionante, sustentando o filme com atuações seguras, intensas e extremamente envolventes.

¡De las mejores películas que vi en mi vida!
Hoy estoy contenta porque por fin les voy a estar hablando de una de mis películas favoritas de todos los tiempos (en general, no solo asiática): The Handmaiden.Soy partidaria de que entre menos sepan de qué va esta película al momento de verla, mejor. Por eso solo les voy a adelantar que está protagonizada por una chica coreana que se hace pasar por una criada para entrar a trabajar en la casa de una familia japonesa y, de esa forma, poder estafar a la "señora" que tiene a su cargo.
¿Por dónde empiezo a enumerar todas las cosas que me ENCANTAN de esta obra de arte? Porque sí, es una obra de arte con todas las letras. La cinematografía es una delicia para los ojos, es una película realmente hermosa de ver. La paleta de colores, el encuadre de ciertas escenas... Una maravilla. Encima a esto le suma un montón el vestuario, el maquillaje y un largo etcétera.
Igual, no solo vale la pena por lo impactante que es visualmente, también cuenta con un guion súper inteligente que hace que no puedas apartar los ojos de la pantalla. Y las actuaciones, sobre todo de las dos protagonistas, están a otro nivel. Literal, la primera vez que la vi lo hice con la boca abierta porque no podía creer que The Handmaiden fuera una película coreana que se dio en el cine y no arruinó la carrera de las actrices (digamos que, si la ven, van a descubrir el significado de thriller erótico, just saying).
Pero bueno, si quieren puedo seguir diciendo cosas positivas: la música es buenísima, no aburre en ningún momento (la trama se reinventa constantemente), es turbia como pocas y al mismo tiempo muy bonita...
¿Hubo polémicas? Sí, muchas personas diciendo que es una película que refleja una fantasía masculina y nada más, pero no sé, yo no podría estar más en desacuerdo. Para mí es una historia que muestra mujeres fuertes que se la re bancan y saben bien lo que quieren (además de criticar ciertos aspectos de la pornografía, por ejemplo).
Lo único que nunca me gustó fue la elección del actor que hace del "tío". Tendrían que haber contratado a un actor más adulto, parece un flaco joven caracterizado y muy caricaturesco.

Uno de los mejores thrillers que he visto
Decir que esta película es una obra de arte es lo mínimo que puedo hacer. La cinematografía es un placer visual constante; cada toma es una pintura, una historia y un mensaje con pistas de la trama; amé la paleta de colores, fríos y pálidos. La música acompaña de forma impecable. La producción es espectacular; los escenarios, los vestuarios y todo en general exuda elegancia, seducción y una marca característica que refleja la cultura de los personajes.Respecto a la trama, thriller erótico es más que clavado. Como dije, todo en esta película grita seducción, sin que nunca se sienta obseno, por más que el film se ponga cada vez más y más turbio. Es increíble lo bien escrito que está el guion; dividida en partes, la historia no deja de asombrar con plot twists que me dejaron confundida, perturbada, asustada e intrigada por partes iguales, y cada vez más y más. No hay agujeros de guion y todas las pistas se nos disponen sin que nos demos cuenta hasta que la explicación cae como bomba, en una narrativa espectacular que no deja de asombrar.
Las actuaciones son excelentes; les creí su papel toalmente a cada uno de ellos y comparten una química increíble, pero las que más merecen un aplauso son las dos actrices principales, sin dudas, que se entregaron completamente a sus personajes. Con un director tan bueno y respetuoso con su cast, amo que Corea haya recibido tan bien esta película, cuando es todo lo opuesto a lo que vemos en los kdramas y está tan llena de tabúes. Una película fascinante y admirable, no para cualquiera, pero sí para el que quiera ver un thriller espectacular y tan hermoso como perturbador.
