There are some very similar elements in the stories - shy, seriously introverted girl who is used to being teased/bullied is gradually drawn out of her shell and makes new friends. I think Nobuta Wo Produce is the better story, but if you enjoyed it, you'll probably enjoy Kimi ni Todoke, and vice versa.
The ML protect the FL from bullying & slowly they start to become friends. After some time passed they realized that they love each other. If you are a shojo manga fans you should try to watch it. It was not too bad as some people said. Some scene is cute & make your heart skipped.
Well-meaning but socially awkward, Kuronuma Sawako is nicknamed "Sadako" by her high school classmates because of her similar hair style with the main character from the horror movie "Ring." She doesn't have friends and goes about her day in quiet. She admires a fellow classmate, Kazehaya Shota, because of his easy-going and friendly nature, but unknown to her, Kazehaya has also been paying attention to her.
Both have the Genres Manga/Romance/School. Also both of them are pretty cute! However Kinkyori Renai is a relationship between a teacher and student while in Kimi ni Todoke it's between two students.

It's Shouko Komi's first day at the prestigious Itan Private High School, and she has already risen to the status of the school's Madonna. With long black hair and a tall, graceful appearance, she captures the attention of anyone who comes across her. There's just one problem though—despite her popularity, Shouko is terrible at communicating with others. Hitohito Tadano is your average high school boy. With his life motto of "read the situation and make sure to stay away from trouble," he quickly finds that sitting next to Shouko has made him the enemy of everyone in his class! One day, knocked out by accident, Hitohito later wakes up to the sound of Shouko's "meow." He lies that he heard nothing, causing Shouko to run away. But before she can escape, Hitohito surmises that Shouko is not able to talk to others easily—in fact, she has never been able to make a single friend. Hitohito resolves to help Shouko with her goal of making one hundred friends so that she can overcome her communication disorder.

Blessed with good looks, Takano Kyohei, a college student, is always suffering from the unreasonable behavior of customers who want him and the sexual harassment of his store manager. Because of his hot temper, he loses his head on this occasion and is fired from his part-time job. Then one day, the glamorous owner, Ms. Nakahara proposes, "I'll give you free board-and-lodging if you can turn my niece, Sunako, into a lady!" Kyohei and Toyama Yukinojo, Oda Takenaga and Morii Ranmaru, the other guys living together in the same boarding house, are enthusiastic, but the person who appears before the four of them is a spooky girl whose hair covers her face and who loves horror and vampires. And so, their tumultuous communal life begins.
I love He Was Cool. It's like my most favourite movie ever. It's so cute and the characters are soo funny. It's not the most typical way for the main characters to meet. Most movies have them meet in school or he accidentally pushed her and never forgot her face. It's such a weird way of meeting and it's so hilarious.
If you like cute movies like Kimi Ni Todoke then you should definitely loveeeee He Was Cool.
Hopefully :)
Enjoyyyyy !!!!!1

Both FLs are extremely introverted and withdrawn and have distinctive long bangs/hair that they hide behind at the beginning. They begin to come out of their shell after interacting with the ML. Both films have a school setting.
