Setsuko Koda is married to Kiichiro who runs a hotel. There is a large age difference between them. Her hobby is to write poems and she published her own collection "Garasu no Ashi" upon her husband's suggestion. One afternoon, Setsuko Koda is lying in bed with Masahiro Sawaki. They are having an affair. The police then contacts her and informs her that her husband was in a car accident. At the hospital, the doctor informs her that Kiichiro has severe brain damage and he won't live much longer. At this time, Ritsuko Fujishima arrives at the hospital. Setsuko hates Ritsuko, her mother that used to abuse her as a child and who also was involved back then in a romantic relationship with Kiichiro.

WOW.

I was going to drop this drama after the first episode as I wasn't quite hooked. However I'm sooooo glad I didn't. If you are in the same boat as me, try the next episode at least.

The drama is very dark and touches on quite a few topics that could be touchy to some people, but rest assured that the drama is more about the effects of those topics rather than using them for their shock value.

The storyline, acting, and music are all excellent and it has left me with a lasting impression after I've finished it. There are multiple ways to interpret the ending and the character's feelings are also sometimes ambiguous, yet real.

I would not recommend this to anyone who prefers lighthearted dramas, but if you are looking for something that makes you think, that might make you cry, and that covers darker topics, then I'd definitely say give it a try. Avoid if you are affected by violence.
