A must watch for drama lover
One of the best drama I watched in recent time and was not disappointedThe whole set up is awesome In the beginning there were lots of confusion so I came here and read few times to understand what was happening
Acting
Acting of every one is awesome but u know whom I have fallen for that Wang Kai his character is so good such a loyal person
Hu ge acted well but some time felt he was not in synch with the scene may be as he was suppose to portray a very young carefree boy
star of the show is Jin dong what a control performance best couple was JIn dong and Wang kai whenever they were on screen u get completely engross
Liu min tao is a great artist I have seen her in Rise of phoenix she is such a great sister I wish she can adopt me too her unconditional love for her three brother was commendable
Song yi was another lovable character great acting there loved her
Wang man also such a beautiful girl but such evil character ha ha I know I know it was just acting and she was brilliant
what makes drama great is chracter and production so salute to them now going to follow this team
I love republic era drama the set up production quality colour palete all so good
must watch
the only disappointment was Hu ge's love story why did tehy do it

Story: Never watched anything like this, so give a 7.5, but how they deal with the two antagonists at the end should have been better.
Acting: drop a star coz of Hu Ge's acting.
Cast: Well casted. It's crazy that I approve casting Hu Ge as a 20 years old but disapprove his acting.
Music: Irritating melodramatic violins BGM too often.
Rewatch Value: Never. Maybe 3 more years and only will watch the middle parts/episodes.
Overall: Do not wanna rate this below 8.0 , was thinking of a 7.5 but pity China series never get deserving love, look at the other reviews and one reviewer rated this a 6.5??? I still think other aspects such as the very attractive 1900s Shanghai's sceneries are worthy of a cinematography-based rating of an 8.0 which added to the overall 8.0.
