After Mr. Sunshine, I don't think I can handle tragic endings. Is this a tragedy too ( as in does the main couple die or get separated in the end?)

There is no main couple really, it´s not really about the romance. 


But no, the main main character gets what he desires (historically obvious) but lets his beloved go.
