The story itself was good, everything else fell flat

With many laugh-out-loud and crazy moments, this series can only be viewed as a parody cos anything else will freeze your brain cells. So although I laughed at the beginning, it slowly got boring and the love story bordered on saccharine.

THE ORIGINAL AND BEST ONE

Don't watch the foolish Korean adaptation. This original one is far better.
Unfortuntaley, a drama that suffers from the low budget (with one and only sponsor), but a masterpiece as a plot and as costumes. The story is captivating, a perfect mix of comedy and serious topics, romantic moments. This drama is a perfect example of LGBT content as a whole. We find various situations, bisexuality among others.
I loved the development, entering the heart of the love story, enters a darker and more difficult situation of power intrigue and struggle than in the first half of the story.
Sheng Yilun as Qi Sheng is absolutely wonderful ❤️ as cold, as charismatic and charming, and the delicate little gestures and sentences can pierce your heart. Zhang Tiana is perfect as Zhang Pengpeng, beautiful, determined, with a dominant and mature character, who also knows how to handle women. Her femininity does not diminish the strong, dominant character of the "man's heart".
The Princes have their own reasons, even Prince Zhao who basically has a very pure heart. Yue the classic "green tea" perfect in the role.
Two things I loved are the importance of sexuality in the story, in the relationships, and above all the crystal clear development in Qi Sheng's feelings. He perfectly knows the woman he fell in love with.
I loved how after towards the end, from episode 27 she can accept herself as a woman, and that from the next episode the male internal voice disappears ❤️ I also loved Pengpeng's love speech , that the love puts on the same level.
In addition to the happy ending, there are two other alternative endings with different perspectives always adult and mature, on the serious line of the drama. The spinoff is cute.
Watch this only, because it's a masterpiece despite everything.

Laughed a lot

Despite it being a low budget drama, it made me laughed a lot. Thank you for doing such a great job FL. You carried the show. Of course others did their best too especially the scriptwriter. Without the script writer, this whole thing is just trash. I didnt expect myself to be enjoying this show because of the weird costume and setting mood (too much neon colors) plus I am not really into this type of dramas. I prefer those scheming and deep ones so if I enjoyed this, it means they have done a great job.
Rewatching rate was low cause Im not really into rewatching and as stated, I prefer other dramas than this.

Absurd & Outrageous Comedic Scenes Paired with Ridiculous yet Cringe-Worthy Story line~!!

GAYNESS OVERLOAD!!

I don't know. I just cannot. I'm still in a great daze right now trying to digest everything while attempting to write this review 1minute after I finish the drama.

2 words to precisely describe this drama is 'Ridiculously Insane'. Honestly, It has so much ups and downs and I have mixed feelings about it. At one point I feel so stressed, frustrated and irritated watching this drama then minutes after I'll find myself dying out of mere comedy and insanity.

This drama served so much unexpected laughter and out of context scenarios but somehow was able to both damage and strengthen my opinion over it as a whole. This is CRAZY I must say. It's on a tier of its own, unrivaled.

1st, let's talk about how they overly sexualized women at the first half of the drama. Even when it's done by the FL, those scenes still felt wrong yet it was saved by it's comedic touches.

2nd, the Modern-Ancient scenes of this drama is so cringy I almost puke watching them but then was saved by the witty, hilarious and strong approach of the FL.

3rd, the clothing! Ghad! It fslt so wrong yet I'm satisfied by it. This drama has the most indecent, revealing yet stylish costume of all Period dramas I've ever watched. Kudos for that.

4th, considering the fact that It's a low budget drama; It was able to deliver so well in various areas specially on the acting, Visuals, Cinematopraphy and lastly Costume. The only let down is its all over the place scenes, writing anf story itself.

Nonetheless, It was FINE!? IF you're looking for a drama with Outrageous and Ridiculous Scenes and Story then this is for you.

Story - 8, I would love to give it a higher mark but the ending could've been more interesting and light. It is an open ended story that's unsure of its sequel. Story itself felt so dramatic and heavy at a scene then will immediately shift to crazy and ridiculous comedic scenes. I felt retarded and insane following the mood of this production like 100% of the time.

Acting/Cast - 10, The Actors/Actresses of this drama is on a different level of excellent character portrayal. Each of their scenes were performed spectacularly and with so much concentration and passion. I can see the hardships they went through to deliver and to fulfill the expectation for their respective characters.

Music - 9, I almost failed to appreciate the songs because I was so distracted by the entire mess this production is serving but they redeemed themselves and was able to flex their Music out at the last 10 episodes of the drama.

Rewatch Value - 7, This drama is Perfect ONLY at first watch. Rewatching might actually irritate anyone since most of the time the sequences are so out of the topic and unrelateable. Absurd.

Overall - 8.5, Okay! I kinda gave an extra points cause I love and enjoy it as a whole. It may have its ups and downs but It was able to serve its purpose which is to entertain and to make its audiences laugh. Like I mentioned on my Bio. I'm a reasonable guy; As long as I enjoyed it, I will certainly give it proper acknowledgement and appreciation.

the show's message: change yourself to be your rapist's ideal woman ^_^

Idk what to say about this one other than it's just 35 episodes of abuse apologia. There were a lot of ingredients that could have made something good (or at least fun) but the ideology of the show is just so regressive and misogynistic. So when Zhang Peng finds himself in Zhang Peng Peng's body, Qi Sheng responds coldly to him - we're clearly doing an enemies to lovers situation, it's fine that he doesn't like Zhang Peng Peng at the very start. (Also going to be referring to Zhang Peng Peng w she/her pronouns through the rest of this given that's how everyone else refers to her.) Qi Sheng is also currently having an affair with his brother's wife, Lady Jiang. I guess Qi Sheng is enchanted by Zhang Peng Peng's change in behavior because Lady Jiang starts to notice a difference in how he treats her and the show confirms this in dialogue as he agrees that he's started to develop feelings for Zhang Peng Peng, but honestly I didn't see anything to indicate that. But whatever, the narrative tells us over showing us and is a little heavy handed about it, fine. Lady Jiang is then worried that she's going to lose favor with Qi Sheng and there's a scene where they're playing soccer and Lady Jiang rips off her outer robes but she frames Zhang Peng Peng for the action and Qi Sheng believes Lady Jiang and PUBLICLY slaps Zhang Peng Peng in front of everyone. So.... bad turn of events but I thought the romance could maybe - MAYBE - still win me over. BUT THEN!!!!!! Qi Sheng sends assassins to kill Zhang Peng Peng. He seemingly has second thoughts when she escapes with his younger brother (who's in love with her) bc Qi Sheng chases after them and is like "she can't die," but... that doesn't change the fact that he sent assassins after her, what the f*ck? He also then berates her upon finding her with her dress all torn up bc she had been trying to save his younger brother since he was injured and sickly and then Qi Sheng kisses Zhang Peng Peng against her consent to like "mark his territory" and tell his brother to back off or whatever 🙄.

So I was already tired of Qi Sheng at this point but oh god it gets worse!!!! Qi Sheng and Zhang Peng Peng reach this cordial agreement where they clear the air about the assassination attempt, and there are like little moments to insinuate that she's falling for him and he has brief moments where he's like vaguely sweet. But then he finds out she's still friendly with his younger brother and Qi Sheng has an explosive meltdown where he THROWS A TABLE. Qi Sheng then starts being cold and aggressive to Zhang Peng Peng and invites Lady Jiang (who has been pushed out of the family at this point) to be a servant in his residence bc it's a stupid power play where Qi Sheng is hoping to make Zhang Peng Peng jealous. Zhang Peng Peng doesn't respond in the way he wants bc she's concerned he's going to kick her out of the position of Empress and she's trying to be a proper demure lady now. After a few episodes of this, Qi Sheng gets confirmation that Zhang Peng Peng and his younger brother are conspiring against him and Qi Sheng then gets super drunk and in that drunken rage he goes to Zhang Peng Peng's residence with his sword and screams about how he's about to kill her because "I've been nothing but nice to you" and "how dare you treat me like this" and when Zhang Peng Peng and Qi Sheng's servants both try to plead for Zhang Peng Peng's life, he raises his sword to kill them for daring to stop him!!!!!!! SO AGAIN. WHAT THE F*CK???????? Zhang Peng Peng tells the servants to leave bc she can't bear the idea of them facing harm to protect her and then she asks Qi Sheng to drop his sword, which he does, and he rapes her. The show tries to gaslight the audience into finding it steamy and we even see Zhang Peng Peng wake up the next morning with a huge smile on her face as she reminisces about it. But then the show admits it was rape bc Qi Sheng comes by and he's like "sorry I forced you last night" so...... the show is just straight up romanticizing rape.

After this, Qi Sheng acts detached when around Zhang Peng Peng and she basically becomes obsessed with trying to get him to show her affection and at one point she even tries to drug him with viagra to get him to have sex with her again... Like, I am appalled and astounded that this was written by two women. She completely alters her behavior - pretending to be stupid and helpless so Qi Sheng will be closer to her to either teach her how to do something or to do it for her. This nonsense continues for a few episodes before Qi Sheng has to leave to fight in a war. Qi Sheng's younger brother plans to strike at this point and kill him, with Zhang Peng Peng STILL plotting with him. As Qi Sheng is ahead of their schemes, he sends a letter back to the palace claiming that he has been poisoned and is near death as it's a test to see if Zhang Peng Peng will really choose him. Zhang Peng Peng is distraught by the news - EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS PART OF PLANNING THIS, LIKE MA'AM WHAT DID YOU THINK WAS GOING TO HAPPEN??????????????????? - and insists on making the trip to deliver the antidote herself. And then she's only mad for like 2 minutes after learning that this was him manipulating her. And then the remaining few episodes are all about how deeply in love they are and how they're willing to die for each other and I don't care I don't care I want them both dead at this point.

Is this the worst show I've seen? No, because I at least enjoyed some of the show when it wasn't about this absolutely godawful romance. But it's pretty atrocious and after having some fun in the first half, it became an excruciating watch in the second half. This show got pretty heavily censored due to current censorship regulations in China and... a broken clock is right twice a day, what can I say.

ALSO THE NINTH PRINCE DID NOTHING WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hilarious, Sarcastic, Silly

I have to confess, I binged this after seeing 1st 2 episodes of Mr. Queen and was impatiently waiting for more episodes to be aired. Frankly, it was just a patch to handle my cravings. I needed a fix! Don't judge :p

Some things to be kept in mind:
THIS IS NOTHING LIKE MR.QUEEN. Don't expect even a quarter of its standard, grace, humour or story.
This drama is a spoof of Korean historical dramas, Chinese historical dramas and/or Korean dramas. So be prepared for silliness/exaggerations that will come in the territory of caricatures/parodies.
This was made on a small budget. How do I know this? Their set is cheap, their costumes are a running joke of it's own kind, and the production makes it obvious-- they keep talking about their sponsor, a Chinese Viagra pill company (IT'S HILARIOUS).
Despite all this, there's some charm in the drama. And a lot of anachronism.

Here's the deal: it's based on a novel. The protagonist is a womanizer who falls into a pool during a party when his multiple girlfriends ambush him. He is injured and falls into a coma while his soul travels back in time into the body of a princess who also drowned. The story is about how he learns to live as a she-- as a queen, wife, mother and herself. The FL has done a decent job acting. The ML is just stoic and statue-like (a handsome statue, so no complaints). There's a lot of misunderstandings, unhealthy relationships and drama. It is charming nonetheless because you sort of get invested in the story.

Side note: Since it deals with fluid sexuality, the Chinese government banned the original ending. So there are 3 or 4 endings.

Endings: the 2 that I saw were sad, sad endings. I couldn't find the happy(ier) ending and had to read it somewhere.

The OSTs are a joke. Half the drama is a joke. There will be a lot of facepalm moments. There are some unsavory and repulsive potty humour. It is silly. You'll feel silly. But all that is a part of the charm. The FL often breaks the 4th window to speak to the viewer. The drama draws you in and gets you invested in the story. Hence, you'll get pissed about the sad endings. So heads up, go in prepared!

I repeat, THIS IS NOTHING LIKE MR.QUEEN.

I liked parts of this drama and other parts didn’t work for me.

What worked? There are some fun bits with the gender reversal and a slow-burn hate-to-love romance that I’m always a sucker for.

What didn’t work? The humor was extremely broad (fart jokes, vomiting) which is not my favorite kind of comedy. Also, some of the male-gaze scenes way too broad as well. This is a comedy and fairly low-brow so it’s not like the characters are well-developed or there’s a a great plot.

"Go Princess, Go!" Genuinely Surprised Me... in a Good Way.

With the constant recommendations continuously being thrown in my face, I am genuinely surprised that I had never heard of this drama before. Everything that was done to create the show was superb... even from the choices of the main leads down to the supporting cast was brilliant.

the BEST of it all though... finding out that SHENG sang a few songs for the show!!! [insert squeal of giddiness] There aren't many drama shows that I come across to where I always end up skipping the intro and the ending of an episode... but with this show, I don't skip at all. I love listening to those two songs.

And the cameo later on in another show?!? Whuuuuttt!!

LOVE IT!!

Crazy show that’s fun to watch!

I really enjoyed watching this drama. It doesn’t take itself seriously and has lots of funny elements from modern day being ‘transported’ into a past / olden day setting.

Watch because:
- cast is good-looking
- storyline is kind of mad but everything falls into place and is actually, explained
- story moves fast enough
- story is suspenseful and makes you want to watch one episode after another
- the male and female lead have great chemistry
- the female lead is so crazy in the show that she’s lovable!
- enjoyable and hilarious mix of what’s supposed to be ancient times and modern day
- sexy innuendos abound

I highly recommend this show when you want something frivolous and yet, makes sense overall. This show is a fun, crazy, sexy ride.

Fun drama

The one thing I noticed it that everyone is saying that the story and the Korean remake are based on a web novel, the plot and a few of the scenes in the C-drama are very similar to an old American movie called Switch.
This was my first C-drama and because of all the censorship, it was really hard to find online and subbed, still the premise was fun and the scenery very lush. The low budget was obvious but didn't take away from anything.
I will say that the ending was something of a twist, but a surprisingly fitting one

Series that aims to be humorous, but... what is the message?

Pure entertainment TT series

PLOT: 1 contemporary playboy who drowns, is sent into the body of a Crown Princess, married to 1 Crown Prince who doesn't love her.

+++ Very good actors (I'm a fan of Peter Sheng, always so handsome... but what is he doing in this kind of drama???)
+++ lots of humor

### You need to let your brain at the door, because there are a lot of anachronisms, inconsistencies, nonsense: no protocols, costumes/hairstyles out of time, huge coincidences, etc. This is explained by the final twist, but that does not make the story credible.
### Visibly low-budget production (sponsored by a Viagra brand :)

=> Series that leaves me perplexed?(・_・;?
*********************************************

+++ beaucoup d'humour

### You need to let your brain at the door, car il y a beaucoup d'anachronismes, d'incohérences, de non-sens : pas de protocoles, costumes / coiffures hors du temps, coïncidences énormes, etc. Cela s'explique grâce au twist final, mais cela ne rend pas le déroulement crédible.
### Production visiblement low-budget (sponsorisée par une marque de Viagra :)

=> Série qui me laisse perplexe ?(・_・;?

Hilarious

I loved the story of Go Princess Go, it just has all the interesting elements for a time travel story with an unexpected twist. It is just hilarious, funny, cute moments, romance, nice music, short episodes, and not too long of a series. This is what I call a match made in heaven for one of my favourite series now. The only thing I am going to say that bugged me is the endings of the story, I am not a big fan of optional endings, a bit puzzling for a comedy. On that note I am going to imagine the ending I want for this story.

I will definitely rewatch this series again, I really enjoyed watching it.
