OMGGG!!!!

I can confidently say that if you are looking for some great romance that will make you cry this is the movie for you.
This movie was such an emotional rollercoaster that I can't even begin to describe how fucking good it is.
First of all, the story is supper original, with the whole carpenter and designer thing and.... honestly just the entire plot. I love this movie so much that it is now automatically my favorite movie.
If you don't like crying by yourself (because if you are human you will definitely cry watching this) you might want to watch it with someone else.

This movie was spell-bounding from start to finish. Like all other romantic movies , it starts off slowly but as soon as it picks up the pace you will never look back. The feels of the movie is completely on a different level. I just can't write anything more.
The leads were phenomenal. Especially the female lead, Son-Ye-Jin. She has done a lot of other movies. But this movie brings the best out of her acting skills.
The plot is simple yet presented in a beautiful way. I would recommend watching the movie without viewing any synopsis or trailers. It has tragedy written all over it. Watch it with a tissue box.
Don't wanna giveaway any spoilers but if you love romantic movies and you wanna shed tears this movie is a MUST WATCH!!!
****it's a tear-jerker!*****

This is kind of an odd one to rate for me. Usually I’m the first one to cry when watching a tearjerker (and romcoms too lmao. I shed so many tears for Homecha in the first freaking episode) but this movie just didn’t really make me that emotional. I did tear up pretty good when he told her he loved her in the very last scene of the movie but otherwise my eyes were dry as the Atacama desert. I’m pretty impatient and just coming out of a kdrama slump so the snail-like pace of this movie was not working for me. It was bearable but also really unentertaining. Overall, I will definitely say that it was worth watching despite it not making me all that emotional, and I’d recommend it anyway.

the movie felt like 4 different movies;
the 1st was the meeting of two teens, the princess and the bad boy who was rough around the edges. this might be where the good girl/bad guy complex came about. they had zero chemistry and she was way too good for him..

the 2nd, was the marriage and loveydoveyness, tbh I thought it was weird how they got married so soon in the movie but they had a lot of built up angst coming their way. they were like a different couple. he got a job and lost his carefree bad boy puberty rebelling phase.

the 3rd part was when they revealed she was sick. and this is when it started to lose points. first of we had the crazy scientist guy who told her everything so bluntly. a professional doctor who personally experienced that should ask for her to bring a family member with them for that kind of earth shattering news ;/
also, forgiveness doesn't cost money.. you should never pay your life savings "to forgive" someone, it should be the opposite if anything... and just becasue she was his mom doesn't mean he needs to put up with her bs ;/

the 4th part started when they added that stupid dramatic scene... a guy who knows his wife has alzheimer sees the door open and she's just standing with a guy so what does he do? go punch the heck out of the guy! why?! the heck?! the guy didn't even do anything, he was confused and didn't react....
like why? why just why.. I was going to give it a 8+ but that was the most ridiculous scene ever. did he think he was going to hurt her? did he think they were cheating? there were no signs, non of that explains why he beat that guy so much ;/
and then the dad goes "we will take her"... what does "through sickness and health mean".. he was willing to stay by her side. just bring in a live in nurse or something but no, she remembered everything and left him while he spent weeks(?) looking for her thinking she might be dead in a ditch ;/

and that binges me to my last point, they were really bad at explaining/showing the passage of time. beside Chul Soo ditching his ragged clothes, they looked the exact same throughout all those phases. how long did this all take? was she always 27 and him, 30ish? becasue his 1st appearance was of someone in his early 20s struggling through life.. and their last appearance was of someone in their 20s losing all of her memories and acting as if she was drunk..

and I hated the ending.. so why did she leave if they reunited and drove towards the sunset? just horrible writing ;/

One day, Ji Hwan begins to receive letters from an unidentified person. The letters, containing black-and-white photos of happy children playing, remind Ji Hwan of his old two friends.
Five years earlier, while Ji Hwan is taking pictures with his camera, two girls, Soo In and Gyung Hee, walk into the frame. Ji Hwan falls in love with Soo In at first sight. He then musters up enough courage to confess his love to her, but she refuses him very politely. Even so, Ji Hwan doesn't give up and tells them that he wants to be friends the next time they meet.
Ever since then, the three of them start a wonderful friendship. They spend time each other always and consider it the most precious moments of their lives. But they become confused between love and friendship and, finally, Gyung Hee and Soo In leave him without a trace.
The random letters inspire Ji Hwan to depart anxiously on a long journey to find his old friends, but while looking for Soo In and Gyung Hee, he confronts a beautiful yet sad secret. Edit Translation

One of the beautiful love story been told. There might be some English movies with the same plot but incorporating a Korean culture and romance made it different. Kudos!
