To be honest I had to drop this, I've watched the anime and loved it, but when it came to the live action I simply couldn't gel with it =/ I thought everything was a bit over the top to an extent that it didn't seem realistic enough for my liking.

The acting is overall great but the old fashioned effects and tricks simply put me off =/

I'd say this drama was more for the younger teen.

I am still emotionally shaken by this drama. IT WAS SO GOOD. Having read the manga and watched the anime, both of which I really like, I have to say that the drama version of The Wallflower outdid them. It is about four really good looking and popular boys whose landlady orders them to turn her niece Sunako into a lady in exchange for free rent. Sunako is an insecure girl who upon being called ugly by the guy she liked found solace in horror films and scary things and became a bit of a recluse. Kyohei is the main protagonist, the most sought after of the four boys who lashes out at everyone due to being harrassed throughout his life and abandoned by his family for his looks and no one caring about who he is as a person. Throughout the drama the gang go on many adventures and Sunako comes more and more out of her shell while staying true to herself, and she helps Kyohei to open up more too and not give up on what's important to him. It took bits and pieces from the manga and stayed true to the characters and dynamics but added another layer of depth to all the wackiness and dealt with the romance in a wonderful way that was really really heart warming without being cheesy and not to exaggerate made me want to cry. All the minor characters were also dealt with really well and had their own complexities and engaging story lines. There were huge moral messages throughout about being yourself and being brave and not being afraid to follow your heart and the beauty of love and friendship and family. Strongly strongly recommend!!

If I remember correctly, this was one of my first dramas EVER (I got into jdrama before kdrama). I watched it after I watched the anime and I remember being addicted and really impressed.

The story line was nothing much and but it was entertaining and should be because the screenwriters have the manga/anime to reference as well as plenty of time to cover material (unlike a movie). You can really tell that it was based on an anime and although some people might think it's cheesy, I love it. Ten episodes went by really quick and every episode was great. I love how the romance was boosted in this version!

The acting and the cast was probably the best part of this series. Oomasa Aya did an exceptional job with the character Sunako. No complaints from me because she stayed true to character and I can't imagine another Japanese actress pull off this Sunako's err... unique personality :P. Of course, Kamenashi Kazuya is such a great actor and obviously he could pull off an amazing Kyohei, looks wise as well :3

As for music, I only remember the theme song that I was obsessed with for weeks. Kat-tun was my first jpop group and this was before I even found out kpop (or even drama) existed (i found out a couple months afterwards, thank goodness). Love Yourself~~ People thought it was kinda creepy hehe, but it was my jam *plays it right now*.

I'll probably be watching it again soon because it's just so fun. I love live adaptation of anime/manga for this very reason.

At first glance this drama may seem absurd and too extra. But on a closer look, you'll find how there some depth into it.
I loved the fact that Kyohei and Sunako were so alike in their opposite situation: she closed herself up because she was called ugly, he did the same because he was too beautiful that people only got close to him for his appearance (is extremized a bit but it works here). They had a way of understanding each other right from the start that made their relationship kinda realistic in a total nonsense context with a sparkle of supernatural.
Another thing that this drama exceed is to show how gradual is to change, how difficult is to overcome your fear and basically defeat yourself. I applaud at the fact they didn't do the makeover thing, or they did but everytime they make her ladylike, is just to understand and accept her being the horror-onna.
Also instead of focusing on her exterior look, it focused on the inside, and the guys just stopped at some point to change her appearance, Kyohei got even mad for it because he completely embraced her true self and that's rare to see in fictions where the ugly duckling usually after a makeover get her confidence boosted and every problem is solved magically. You may think that being and hikikomori just because someone rejected you would be too much, but actually it shows how much words can affect each other. Sunako is presented as a really introvert yet caring, perceiving and very sensitive girl so those words and the rejection from the whole class just because she was into creepy aesthetics made her lose herself. Being scarred is not something that can improve with make up or shiny clothes, it's a journey and who walks through that path must have the strength and the will to do so, that's why the guys and the cousin were fundamental in her process.
I would have appreciated more depth in the other three boys but it's a 10 episode drama, that would've been to much filler I suppose xD
Still the mixed manga styled comedy it's a bit cringe to watch and there are few plot holes here and there but the main message and the cute protagonists just overcame those. I recommend it!
Ps. Also it gives a little more sense of conclusion, while anime and manga have some sort of open ending xD

Without comparing to the anime, this drama is superb! For the first time, I actually liked the live action better than the anime. The guys in the live action are more handsome than the ones in the anime.

I like the guys. They were all handsome except for the playboy guy. I like the girl. I've seen her in previous dramas like Mei-chan No Shitsuji and movies like Paradise Kiss. She's pretty and good. I love the little boy who acts as "dorm master."

This drama is funny and worth watching!

I watched this drama a long time ago like in middle school, around the time I first started reading manga and watching anime. I'm pretty sure I already knew the story from the manga and anime. The anime was a really funny direct take from the manga. I didn't know this drama was based on the same manga until I realized the names were the same. HAHA

Usually live action remakes of manga are really similar to the manga that I feel like I don't really want to watch it but with this drama, I watched it without realizing. The little changes in this story were great and made this drama unique even though it was following the storyline of the manga.

Don't get me wrong I still really like the anime because there are some things that anime do that you couldn't really do with live action like Sunako's chibi form or the nose bleeds or going to the dark side from a kiss or her love of chocolate. All that is still pretty funny.

Instead of those she was given powers and the love story was changed, which I really liked given the fact that the manga version of Sunako and Kyohei are very dense and who knows when their relationship is going to go anyway.

I kind of find it kind of funny and ironic that the actress playing Sunako whose's goal is to become a Yamato Nadeshiko is actually a Yamato Nadeshiko  in a different drama (Mei's Butler which is based on a different manga if anyone wants to go check it out).

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge is not a drama for everyone, it's over the top and cheesy at times which is a turnoff for some people. However Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge also is a cute and fluffy pick me up romantic comedy drama. One of my favorite things about this drama is that it doesn't have two of the most popular romantic comedy clichés that you would expect this kind of drama to have. There is no love triangle or clingy second female leads in this drama.

The acting in this drama is also pretty good, everyone acted their part with commitment.Omasa Aya was the perfect choice to play Nakahara Sunako she looks just like her manga counterpart. (From what I've seen from pictures of the manga, I never actually read the manga),

The music in this drama is extremely cheesy or more specifically the opening theme song is I should say extremely cheesy. I cringed and fast-forwarded every time they performed the opening theme song. The opening theme song is used in other times in the drama and it's not as cheesy as it is in the opening, where the leads characters performed on even more cringe worthy and cheesy dance to the already cheesy song.

Overall, In my opinion Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge is a cute and fluffy drama with a extremely cheesy opening theme.

Its a comedy cum Romance drama. If you are frustrated with something or need a break from routine work, it is best to watch .

Female lead has done a good job. Best acting. Few places you will bust out of laugh. Story line once you watch few episodes you will know the story line not difficult to guess the next move of the story but the screen play was awesome.

Hope you will also like it as like me. :)

I re-watched this drama about 9 times and I'm re-watching this right now as well, so it is my 10th time watching this drama. This drama is REALLY worth watching. There is romance and comedy in it so it is really, really, really, great to watch! ^^ I really love this Drama because Kamenashi Kazuya is in it, but also since the storyline is very good, no matter how many times I watch the drama, I never get bored of it because the story line is very good!

this was my FIRST j drama and its not bad...it gives you a GOOD feeling when you watch it really...it beautifully shows that everyone has complexes , problems of their own but they can be overcome if you realize your power, have faith and show courage to step forward...

but one of its drawback is that there are a lot of things that are hard to digest...so they really should have added fantasy and supernatural in the genre(as i have said earlier)...

also the acting could have been much better...sometimes it seemed a bit makey (if you know what i mean)..its like you realize "oh they are acting..its a drama m watching right now" ..it lacks the element of making you believe in it at some points..

it gives you a anime like feeling..i felt like m watching an anime..

the music is not that good here..i wonder even it was there because i can't seem to remember any of them except the opening song and the ending one..

i don't rewatch dramas so i won't recommend it..

well overall it was a nice watch and i enjoyed it neverthless..if you are searching for something light, fluffy, fun and ESPECIALLY CUTE BOYS and really quick (its short duration wise)....then this is your drama ..so go grab a watch...

and now m off to watch another j drama..
