Cast & Credits
"The Founding of the Army" is an epilogue war thriller commemorating the 90th anniversary of founding Communist China's armed forces, rebuilding a series of events and battles that led to the formation of the People's Liberation Army. The film has a strong renunciation of humanistic sensibility but effectively demonstrates contemporary warfare, while constantly shifting attention from the sufferings of individual soldiers to the party's commitment to the revolutionary course. The result, while exciting as propaganda, is dubious ... In short the film is caricatured by its frivolous lifestyle, and portrayed with little explanation.
