Here to analyze last episode, 61

Like many other viewers, I am confused by the last episode, 61. Was the intent of the last scenes meant for viewers to see it as 2 different endings? If so, then 1 ending actually ends when XX swims to BYY and they meet, assuming both is dead now and they both progressed to afterlife where XX is there greet her. Last bit of that scene fades to black, which to me means, the end.
The other ending starts with her crouching and crying at the bridge and XX walks up behind her and they meet, and hug and its a happy ending. But there are so many unexplained ploth holes around how XX could've survived. These plot holes needs to be explained if the director want to convince me that the story can have a happy ending. For example, the scene when XX finally dissapates the evil spirits and purifies the pagoda, we see Leng Chu uses his buddah power totem to suck the clean purity aura into his totem pole and he also sucks all the water dry. Did he use the purified aura and magic water to bring XX back to life? was this how XX was able to surive and needed 7 days to recover and this was why XX was late to meet BYY at the bridge? See, this is what we, as viewers, need to see in order for us to 'fill in the gap' to understand why XX can survive and meet BYY for a happy ending.

Just my thoughts, but did enjoyed the series. Also its my first C drama ever, so I'm probably bias.

The actors/actresses all fit their roles well. The male lead Zi Xuan will seem dull/emotionless at first but that's what is required of his character. You can see in the second half of the drama that the actor is able to portray a variety of emotions.

I like that the drama shows character growth and learning. Zi Xuan is always planning ahead and thinking for everyone's sake. Bai Yao Yao (White Snake) goes from a naive young snake to someone who truly understands Zi Xuan. Xiao Qing (Green Snake) learns what is love very naturally. Ling Chu/Qi Xiao/Monk stays stubborn but is always caring - especially since he's supposed to be Fa Hai (legendary monk who breaks up the main lead's love). Even the heavenly elders realize that they can be wrong and they have their own biases when wishing the best for their disciples.

No one is truly evil and everyone has someone they are willing to sacrifice to protect. You might not agree with how they go about expressing their love, but you can always empathize with them. I think that's the beauty of this drama. By the end of it all, you can't really hate any of the characters.

The series was pretty decent if you’re looking for something entertaining to watch. I’m 90% sure that the plot was about fighting your destiny and being willing to go against the grain to do it. There was lots of action and some romantic cuddling but nothing over the top. I will admit by episode 50 I was really getting annoyed with the all out sacrificing that everyone on this show was making. It’s truly beyond reasoning. For the level of loyalty and love that they had for each other I feel that most of the characters sacrificed themselves or something else on an overload level. While I enjoyed the ending I was a bit confused.

Though ending of drama is happy but little disappointment with the ending part of story ,it shows little mess with the ending.
Actually drama get over with the 59 episodes and the episode 60 and 61 had the summary of the whole episodes but episode 69th had a ending of drama in its last part but though it is happy ending but the way that they end I didn't like that story line ..
Drama is all about three clan ,the diety ,the human and the demon .How they altogether keep the peace between Earth and Heaven but due to generation of evil thoughts again the peace get disturbed and the two diety took the responsibility to handle the situation but in their life two snakes or say the lady demons enter one of the diety fall in love with the white snake and their love face lots of hardships and separations but didn't give up on each other in any case ,so beautifully executed this love story but other diety fell in love with green snake but never confess her ,he kept all his duties and responsibilities much above his feeling of love and green snake love towards him grow stronger and stronger that she sacrifice her life for him but he melts to see her dying then to he didn't confess her his feeling ,which I want that he atleast says all the things at her last moment which he hide in his hearts .But he didn't say anything. Her depart scene make me cry the way he and white snake cry and shows that they both become helpless to saved her ,it's too touchy scene.. and at last how they succeed ... All these shows in drama
Though drama is long but it worth watching except last two episodes and the ending of story .

Beautiful story

This "current/modern version" of the famous Chinese folklore legend --Legend of the White Snake--is an impressive update from the original tale. It is a poignant adaptation.

Several aspects of the story are quite captivating (aka., binge watching warning here!! LOL):
1) Story brings forth "destiny" as a source of conflict for Xu Xian and Bai Yao Yao -- they must struggle against their predetermined destinies in order to be together. At times, it means they have to break celestial laws and receive grave punishments from the Immortals.
2) Story focuses on the Taoism concept of immortality --how to obtain it, whether it is worth pursuing, etc? And whether experiencing the emotional life of mortals is worth it?
3) Excellent supporting characters with their own story lines: Xiao Qing and Qi Qing, Bai Di and Qing Di, Shang Di and Yao Di, Leng Ni, Tao Ti, etc
4) Good balance of comic parts and heart-wrenching parts of the story.
5) Excellent Acting!

***Before I forget to mention: the songs are so lyrical.***

A relatively new interpretation of the original tale, and I mean it in a positive way. A naive scholar Xu Xuan now becomes a new character that can be considered as a smart male lead, that can actually not passively sitting there and have the female character actively protecting and leading the story, but actively involved in development of the story. I am amazed by the acting skills of main roles, even though they are quite new and young, in film industry, as far as I know. They made their love stories so beautiful and admirable for audience to watch, and I got too deep into it that I am in love with every single glances and love moments between them, cried my heart out countless times every time they got separate apart, reunion, sacrificed for loves and friendships. Eyes contacts are perfectly well and emotionally provoke feelings from the audience. The music is absolutely beautiful, on point, and appears at right moments, and I felt hurt a lot whenever it comes. The plot is a bit too lengthy, especially for the last half, and somehow have a gradually loose interpretation toward the end. Still this is a beautiful piece of drama and I am in love with it for sure . I've rewatched thrice already, and cried my heart and eyes out every single time.

I feel really bad for people who have not been able to see the drama because the eng subs have stopped at episode 12 for some reason. I speak another language and it has been subbed in my language which is why I am able to see this.

First of all it is very loosely based off the original tale. It is a very very very well written and I hate how underrated it is compared to other drama’s that aired at the same time. Seriously guys if you want a classic love story without all the usual back stabbing, misunderstandings and annoying love triangles then this is the one to watch.

I usually shy away or skip ALOT of content when it comes to drama’s that run for this long (60 eps) but I have seen 42 eps and have not skipped a single second. Everything in the drama is what I have been looking for in other dramas and it hits all the right spots. You cry and laugh, sometimes in the space of 5 minutes.

Please please please subbing gods, continue the subs for this incredibly underrated drama so others can experience the beauty of it. Hope my pleas are heard!!

It took me 7 episodes to finally jumped to episode 60. Please do'nt curse it's just there were many annoying characters and please bear with me, stupidity is really a disease(if you'll watch, then you will know what I mean). I really loved both the female lead (Yang Zi) and the male lead (Ren Jualin) so, I am not bias here in giving my review. The story seemed lost. Why continue it up to 60 episodes wherein they can wrap it up until episode 30. Yes, they were always chasing demons. And the ending, it made me lose my control. Why is it that most chinese dramas have tragic ending. I, myself could not decipher what happened. I think the director is thinking of season two( help yourself to watch episode 60 in the scenario where Xu embraced Xiao at bridge).

Yang Zi is a great actress who can play anything. Unfortunately, here she got an actor's colleague Allen Ren, who is, to put it mildly, boarded. But Liu Xue Li is great even when he plays the villain. There, the love of Bai Jojo did not crackle from him there. Well, I'm probably influenced by Ashes of love, where it was also complicated, but here I sometimes thought that Allen Ren was not a very good choice as the main character and that he could have played it even better when he showed more love for his wife.

I'm on an Allen Ren kick... What a fabulous actor! Ren playing the character of Xu Xuan was absolutely believable. My eyes stayed focused on his acting. I loved everything about him and he is now on my Top 10 list of Chinese Actors. I am going to watch everything he has done. Yang Zi is another beautiful and perky actress, I love her, she has been on my top ten Chinese actress list since her first drama Ashes of Love. This character Bai Yao Yao / Xiao Bai was perfect for her. Mao Zi Jun, I want to see more of him and I feel that I have. He did really well but it shocked me to see him bald. Li Man who played "Green Snake" Xiao Qing, I love her! This role was also perfect for her. I wished that the story kept her... shh not going to give it away.
Since this was in 2018 the technical visuals, at times you can see it was real, but that's okay because I just focused on the story. I loved the storyline. The martial arts, fantasy, visuals, the dragons, were all excellent. Thank you to everyone who participated in this drama.

on 1st episode it seems going good but after 4 episode i thought story is remake of ten mile of peach blossom where mo yuan sacrifice himself to seal monster then his brother appear and marry to qian here zi xuan sacrifice himself to seal water monster then a person appear lord xu his appearance is like zi xuan and white snake roaming around him the story is full of rubbish thing and exaggerated it can't hook people from initial may be it take time like 15-20 episode but i'm not interested to wait for unnecessarily going story FL is dumb annoyed house of foolishness irritating

people watch entertainment thing to rest/enjoy from stress in daily life that kind of drama are over time task for people

may be it go great after many episodes but its my assumption there is nothing else rubbish

i will not recommend this who don't have patience and lots of time to waste on it

Let me begin by saying so far so good!!!
I only have a few issues. The first and foremost being that this is nearly identical to TMOPB just in a different more tweaked way. But it made it cute and more enticing to watch. IN TMOPB there is Kunlun, Heaven, peaches, a girl disguised (as a snake but still) a bell to capture the demon, 2 high authority figures watching everyone. soul catching lamp, instant care and adoration, thrown into the mortal realm for punishment

Now everything I just said happened in the first 3 eps of this so im curious to see how it will play out!

The rest shall be determined :)
