A So-So Show

This drama story was, in my opinion, not the best of the HIStory franchise, but it was not awful either.

->Story: I thought the concept of a woman's soul stuck in a man's body was unique. At first, after reading the description I was not too sure how the show would use this idea; even so, the show overall did an okay job at capturing it. The beginning was definitely very fast paced, then slowing down towards the end. The fast pace did bring some confusion as it was hard understanding what was happening with the plot in the beginning. As it slowed down though, the show became more interesting to watch. Some points of criticism I have was that it seemed that the main lead, Mai Ying Xiong, did not seem devastated, nor shed a single tear after his girlfriend passed away. I would assume after having his girlfriend die, he would be sensitive or at least overcome with sorrow. Nonetheless, falling in love with the love interest, Gu Si Ren, without a thought of his girlfriend. Also, the ending, though sweet, did not satisfy. After both leads kissed, the woman's soul left Gu Si Ren's body...Gu Si Ren did not recollect anything that happened to him after the girlfriend's soul had used him. How would things work out between him and Mai Ying Xiong then if he did not remember anything? The ending could have used some work.

-> Acting/Cast: Aaron Lai, Da-Her Lin, and Patricia Lin were all beautiful actors and I thought their acting was great. Aaron's character was my least favorite either due to the acting or how the script was written. I know he is a very talented actor, which he proves in other shows. Patricia Lin did a wonderful job portraying the pain and hurt; her scenes of grief were well done. Da-Her Lin was a cute face on the screen and his acting was not bad either; quite on the contrary I thought he did fine. I did not have any criticism for the support actors, but their performances were not memorable.

-> Music: The music was catchy, but it was easy to forget as it did not stand out. It was just another OST.

-> Rewatch Value: Personally, I would not rewatch this story in HIStory 1, but judging by how there are only 4 short episodes it would be easy to rewatch just maybe not enjoyable.

-> Overall: I might not recommend this show out of the whole HIStory franchise, but with some funny, sweet scenes, and good-looking actors, this short story just might be what you are looking for!

Profoundly Thoughtful

This is a very interesting story of soul displacement that is full of irony and deep reflection. When you switch bodies you find out what it is like to be another person in reality. you discover that its aspects are both good and bad and you have to learn to cope in society in a whole new realm. You also find out a lot about other people. And in that process of learning, you may have discovered that you were not as nice as you thought you were. Even harder, you discovered that hidden feelings never surface when you do not want them to surface. Can you make the supreme sacrifice for the happiness of the one you love knowing you were really not the one he loved? Will you put his happiness about yours? Profoundly challenging and a sacrifice that only a real hero would make.

Why did it have to end like this?

I feel like the ending is cruel tbh. The story could’ve still been amazing if they didn’t include the girlfriend trying her hardest to get back together with him. Yes she wasn’t the best person and didn’t really take her boyfriend’s feelings into consideration. But does that mean she had to die? I’ve read people say she deserved it and that it was karma but does being a bad girlfriend mean you deserve to die. Not only did she die while she wasn’t even supposed to die but she discovered that her boyfriend never loved her. She lost everything. They could’ve kept the same storyline but with Gu having 7 days to make him fall in love. If they wanted to have the annoying girlfriend trope they could’ve added her. Make Ying realise that she was annoying and break up with her. But I also don’t like how she was the one in his body. Like it just annoyes me I really hate this. He should’ve been able to make his own decisions not have a girl obsessed with getting back with her boyfriend make them.Otherwise the acting was amazing. There were some cute moments that I really liked. But it just angered me that she not only found out her boyfriend had been lying to her all along but that she also died when she wasn’t supposed to.

WHAT THE HELL?!

It's sick! Trust me, I try not to write negative reviews for dramas. I always try to find out something positive in whatever I watch. Even though this series have a lot of negative reviews, I still decided to give it a try because many times I've fallen in love with low rated dramas. Plus, m currently watching the HIStory series so I decided to watch this too. Afterall it's just 4 episodes. I watched it in 2x speed!
The story is downright RIDICULOUS! FORGET CROSS GENDER BODY EXCHANGE, THE FACT THAT THE GUY MOVES ON AND FALLS IN LOVE WITH ANOTHER GUY WITHIN LESS THAN A WEEK OF HIS GIRLFRIEND 'S DEATH MAKES ME SICK! Even if he liked him even before the accidents took place, how can someone just move on so quickly?! I feel bad for his gf! Poorly written story.

Uncompleted story

Watch this cause it's short drama with only 4 ep with each about 20 min per ep. So yeah overall about 75-80 min total.

So far for the first HIStory series i watch 2 & quite unsatisfied with both. The story too short & a few aspects very unclear.

Now let's we talk about this particularly....

The story itself already confusing at first, let alone they only have 4 ep. I understand this is the first series, so we talk about budget & just test the water... So maybe they should pick the story more wisely then just randomly pick the script...

Ok. Let's continue about the confusing story.... Like KainGuru already wrote in their review: "How would you get someone to fall in love with you again if you died and returned in someone else's body, and as a different gender?" and let me added, and you also only get 7 days to make that man fall in love with you....

If this longer ep drama, maybe we get more elaborate story about how the 'FL' try to seduce or convince ML about her truth self. But this particular short ep only cover how the 'FL' get closer to ML & how in the end she get to be shock by the result she never expected....

Oh for more confusing notes. The ending is the most confusing one... I don't really understand the ending. But, i don't want to spoiled anything important. So yeah you just need to watch it urself for the ending...

Well what i can said in the end this story just get the happy ending for both man...

My Personal Favorite of HIStory 1

Out of of the 3 HIStory 1 episodes this one was my most liked. The second episode "Stay Away From Me" Felt lackluster, and the 3rd episode "Obsessed" felt too extreme in certain aspects. This one was shockingly more grounded than the other 2 IN MY OPINION.

I admit that the HIStory series has come A Long way since Season 1, and improved in almost every aspect, so to compare it wouldn't exactly be fair.

I'll stick to what's good about it. This episode is silly and goofy. It's supposed to be kind of comedic and a little bit dramatic. It's not a story that'll have you using much brain power or emotional drainage. It's simple and fun if you let it be. Aaron Lai, the man who played Hero was a fantastic choice. He became my very first Crush from a long list of the HIStory actors that I now adore. The Casting people never fail let me tell you. They know how to pick them.
Could it have been better? Yes. But I have to assume that because this was the very start of the HIStory Franchise in 2017, they didn't have the same exact resources they do now so It's fair to be lenient. If you decide to watch it, have a few laughs, swoon over Aaron and then keep it moving.
I'm glad I saw this series in order, I got to experience it's progression and develop crushes on so many fine actors.
I got to see Aaron here and then Later in another, Larger BL role. Seeing him progress makes me so happy.

WATCH TILL THE END ITS GREAT

Well being a fun of mystical stories i love how this series goes thought very short and the first part being alittle confusing i really loved how the series told itself like seriously the most intresting part was imagine being a woman trapped in a mans body it was very funny but in a good way you have to watch it to tell
CAST
the casting was great and the chemistry between the leads was cute and really fun to watch and the way they told the story with just 4 parts was amaizing but thats my thoughts you should watch to tell

How to teach the heart that loved the people he was not its content?

--
So that's the theme of this series. All this time, forcing him to feel how you feel about her. And ending, you're just dumpe away, girl! He likes Gu Ren! :D

Again, a big round of applause to the set designers because they have the beauty of their settings. strength of modern interior design, simple but rock! The actors did really fine on their scenes, I just wished they just killed the girl right away and let them have a real BL scene, or maybe a longer kissing scene. :D

If it was supposed to be "appeasement to a conservative audience", the creators probably wouldn't have produced 7 series and more are on the way, while only in this series is the subject mentioned. I found it nicely comical, less overplayed as is common in Asia, light (even though it is about death) and underlined by the absolute symposia of Mai Ying Xiong. Originally, I wanted to give 8 points for the sound, but I deducted three points for the horribly loud songs that the creators put into the individual scenes. Not only were they loud like a merry-go-round, but they didn't fit the plot.

I wish they had more time together

I'd like to start off by saying that i thought i was watching a whole different series so i watched this by accident, but now ive fallen down a rabbit hole and cant get out. I took off two stars within the first 20 minutes because i was so confused. like who got knocked out? who were the bullies? would they come back? is this the main character? who is that girl? who is that boy? IS THAT THE GRIM REAPER? how did this girl die? and did any of these questions get answered by the end of this episode...kinda? Okay we are going to jump around a little bit. At first when the show freeze framed and we could see she was a ghost i was like damn this editing kinda good, but then throughout the episode the editing just slowly went downhill, but it was really funny to watch so instead of taking off two stars i will just take off one. Okay when Lan Xi was running out of time to make him fall in love with her again and then he kissed him and was like i love you. i was like awh thats so wholesome and then when i saw that she was standing next to the grim reaper/Bai Chang Chang i was really like AWHHH because he didnt fall in love with her but was actually in love with the guy and the guy (Gui Si Ren) got a second chance at life. I took off half a star because the episodes just ended and i didnt get to see them spend more time together. Final verdict 6.5/10 (I can’t do a 6.5 because I’m rating it on my phone) which says a lot because i have really low low low low low low low low low low i mean fucking low ass standards

also my grammar sucks so sorry if every other word is spelled wrong. english is my first language i just suck at it

Sweet

HiStory 1: My Hero is very sweet. I both liked & disliked the girlfriend character. I'm sympathetic to her struggles after she "dies," but as it was revealed near the end of the episode; she was self-obsessed and inconsiderate of Mai Ying Xiong's thoughts & feelings. I'm glad she found peace, though, because despite all that, she didn't deserve to have her life cut short. The love storyline between Mai Ying Xiong & Gu Si Ren is very sweet. I'm glad it was established that there were feelings on both sides BEFORE the accident, because that I read that to mean that Mai Ying Xiong fell in live with Gu Si Ren's real personality; not Lan Xi in Gu Si Ren's body, and Mai Ying Xiong can write off that week as a blip.

Cute!

It was a fun short series roughly 1 hour total i didn't have to spend much time but the story line was super fun. Me being me finished it in one sitting. And it didn't feel like a waste of time at all.
The acting was also not that bad. It was a good production. For such a low price of shooting this a fine piece of art.
