Wow, just wow! I'm amazed on how this series improved since the last season, not only the budget got bigger, but the locations, costumes and even their wigs looks prettier! The costumes were absolutely beautiful, I loved all of them :3 The story is almost the same: kings fighting for land and power, Ah Li's revenge on Tianxuan and a new incorporated love triangle between Ah Li, Zhi Ming and a new handsome king (who can easily pass as Zhi Ming's twin lol, Ah Li has a type I guess xd), it's funny to see how the purple king gets jealous all the time.

There are many new actors in this season and almost all of the old ones are gone, I really missed them since I got very fond of them. Many of the new people are amateur actors, I can't say I didn't like their acting but it wasn't that great, just the average. However, Ah Li and Zhi Ming's actors acting skills improved a lot, I loved the way they portrayed their characters feelings for each other, so sweet to watch. And as always, the soundtrack was beautiful, it got me emotional many times (again haha).

My only complain is that some romantic scenes were cut off by the censors (Zhi Ming picking up Ah-Li in the air, Yu Xiao catching Ah Li when he falls, Yu Xiao and Ah Li holding hands, Zhi Ming holding Ah-Li's hand, Yu Xiao and Ah Li's hug), but I'm glad cause this season somehow survived the slaughter the first one has gone through, is way more complete and the light romance scenes are still here! I never got tired of watching the sweet scenes between the these handsome men.

Men with missing logic 2.

Well, the acting and production were a lot better. The story was much more interesting and grasping. I got through this season way quicker. I quite liked some of the new characters. Specifically, Zi Yu. He was the best. I also found Xiao Pang so adorable. He was a minor character, but he had a lasting effect. Ling Guang really lost his marbles in this one. He finally got back what he had lost, and then he just threw it all away for no real reason. Zhong Kun Yi was pitiful. His motive made no sense. He had become so blinded by vengeance. In the first season, he didn't seem to care about Meng Zhang and Gong Sun. In this season, they made it seem as if they were his entire world. He caused so much havoc, and it felt somewhat undeserved, even if A-Li had done many unforgivable things. He decided to take it out on everyone, also people that hadn't done him wrong. Yu Xiao didn't really matter. He was a decent character, but ultimately he too went on his way. It was fun to see him and Zhi Ming fight over A-Li, though. Such children. About Zhi Ming. He was our cute, although slightly annoying king throughout most of the season. Eventually, he turned into a much more able king. He went through a lot of loss which hardened him quite a bit. At first, I was proud. Then I slowly started to realize he became distrustful. That included not trusting his precious A-Li. It was heartbreaking to watch A-Li being regretful and wishing to be close with Zhi Ming again. A-Li's weak spot really was Zhi Ming, after all. At least we got to know that Zhi Ming's feelings weren't one-sided. It's a shame that this series didn't get a proper ending. A third season seems unlikely at this point.

great drama of political intrigue

after slow start (maybe because I did not watch the prequel so not familiar with background)I loved this superlative action drama and very involving once you begin to unravel the overload of information about various courts intrigues and players〜one I watch many episodes together〜 also this drama really lives up to its name as it is episode 4 and I have not seen a single female: how do they reproduce?(^_-) as usually it seems with Chinese dramas the introduction songs are too long、 I assume Chinese audience like action shots with music as a distinct part of the show〜but though I like rock music it seems bizarrely out of place in this type of period drama〜my only criticism is the very unsatisfactory ending on which see separate comment with spoliers〜〜

The Star Cast

MyDramaList.com forgot to mention the Actor for Luo Min 's character as support role in the star cast and he plays a significant role in the second half of season 2. The 2 nd season is not entirely an all male actors series, there is one female however she is lost in the programme you don't know/ notice or get to see where/ in which scene is she acting but she is mentioned in the star cast. This programme is very interesting and exciting even though it seemed slow and confusing. What's sad is that all the good ones are dying leaving you baffled. It leaves you wondering whether if Murong Li is really the villain, however the director got us to love him and rooting for him, And at the same time you want revenge for all the good ones dying whereas usually, normally villains are hated. Prince Lord Zhi Yu, Grand tutor and especially King Zhi Ming are the funniest and the background funny music score for him matches him exactly. The background music score throughout is great even gets more catchy exciting and matches well leaving goosebumps and giving an adrenaline rush. The Ost rock song suits the the series. They include/ get you absorbed in their discussions of war strategies and tactics of dispatching troops. Their timing, actions and interaction with each other is really good, funny and nice to watch. Their heated arguments and scheming against each other is so good and real it leaves you disheartened and wishing that if they could all get along. It's actually sad to see Murong Li's relationship with King Zhi Ming change and Zhi Ming goes head to head with him, And you actually miss King Zhi Ming's antics/ idiotic behaviour when he turns serious. Although Lord Zhong Khun Yi fights fire with fire at first against Murong Li but in the end he started stooping low in his schemes. The characters' personalities and their dialogues has a lot of life lessons that you really realise, learn and relate to. All the actors including the background/ backup extra actors are brilliant in their acting, it's almost real. You get absorbed into all of them and their acting.
