49 Glorious Episodes of Wang Da Lu <3

I watched this drama purely for Darren Wang Da Lu. I’m a fan. Yes, I am. To me, he is a extremely hot, charming and handsome. I had to watch this drama for him!

I highly recommend this drama if u, like me, are a Darren fan. Please watch this drama to enjoy how tremendously handsome he is in it! I enjoyed seeing him on my tv screen. He is gorgeous.

Watch because:
- Darren is the male lead. He is so very manly and powerful in this show. He looks supremely gorgeous in his getup. He looks so suave and powerful on horseback. I love his side profile which we get plenty of. I love his kiss scenes which are tender and yet, hot and sexy! He is my main reason for watching and my fellow likeminded fan of Darren, pls watch to enjoy Darren. He is awesome in this drama.
- Great acting from most actors and actresses, especially Darren/ Bo Wang. I think that Darren deserves Best Actor Award for his performance in this drama.
- The sound track is well-made and I have been listening to it non-stop since I started on the drama. The best songs are the ones sung by Jolin Tsai and another two called Stone and Sirius. Well-made OST for sure.
- Storyline is fairly good - exciting and interesting.

The parts that I didn’t like much:
- Lots of bloodshed.
- The female lead got on my nerves quite a bit. She could have been re-cast and another better female lead would have been better. I can think of better/ more suitable actresses but I won’t name any.
- The nasties - meaning the bad characters - are awful. The King is mad for power. The second son is crazy and evil. There are a few very annoying characters in this drama.

Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this drama and I will definitely rewatch this drama for scenes with Darren/ Bo Wang. He is truly extremely handsome, charming and charismatic in this drama. I have seen him in movies and yet, in this drama, he is exceptional! Exceptionally handsome! Exceptionally powerful! Exceptionally great! Watch for 49 episodes of darling Darren/ Bo Wang. <3

Phenomenal Acting

I am delighted with the acting. I rarely see such dedicated actors. I know many of them from other dramas and I have the impression that each of them gave their whole heart to this drama.
I am not the first and the last person to love the character of Ji Chong. It is not about the phenomenal Xiao Zhan, but about how completely this character was built - his family relations, baggage of the past, personality. I get the impression that due to the fact that this is a character without supernatural elements, he was treated very gently by the censorship and it was cut out of it as little, or almost not at all.
Well, you can see that the censorship treated The Wolf ruthlessly, yet the producers saved what they could and for me the overall impression is excellent. Many elements were left to the viewer's imagination, but for me it only added charm to the drama.
Personally, I like this drama very much, mainly because of the actors / characters. The heroes have their advantages and disadvantages, they are very realistic and passionate. They make up for any other shortcomings.
Not recommended to people who like sweet romances. I recommend it to people who do not mind a certain emotional 'juiciness'.

Spoiler alert

I've waited for this drama for more than a year. After watching the first few episodes, I am ready to drop it. Why? Their love story is so heartbreaking. I feel so sad and heartbroken while watching it. But the plot is so interesting so I endured my emotions coz I want to see how the story of the ML and FL will unfold. This is a full package drama. They showed us the struggles to be in power, friendship and loyalty between comrades.

I'm glad that I watched it till the end. This is worth your time. BTW, the OST is superb!

It is a Decent drama

I just Finished it & have to say it was started so well but the plot messed up by the second half of the drama specially I didn’t like the character development for the FL , I was expecting better than that. But overall it was watchable for me . Many things had made it up for the flaws like the nice second leads & their side stories, the BGM , OSTs, AND The CG ! Despite it was produced in 2017 but in my eyes its way better than many of recently produced dramas. I am fine with any kind of ending except surely the vague non conclusive one so the ending of this series was ok for me & I like even how they gave a glimpse of what everyone of them is upto in their lives which is not the usual case for many dramas. Would I recommend it ? For me It is a decent drama would recommend it if you want to kill time or you are a fan of the leads .. I think If I wasn’t a fan of Li Qin & Xiao Zhan , I wouldn’t watch it till the end.

Came for Xiao Zhan, stayed for Darren Wang and Li Qi

About the storyline, I don't think I've ever watched anything like this. Maybe because I also never really watch historical dramas, but this. This one really did it for me. It's just so original, touching and overall a masterpiece. Nothing was expected or just cliche, no cringe at all and I give the actors a big round of applause for this.
The acting was SUPERB. I honestly came here for Xiao Zhan, but the two main leads' performance, Li Qi ans Darren Wang's, was amazing. I got to know knew actors and I'm looking forward to other future works.

Gosh the relationship between Li Qin and Darren Wang is just mind blowing and so perfect. It actually gave me chills, especially at the end. You'll fall in love with the ml trust me, from the very first episode his smile just did it for me. He is also very handsome. The acting is great and these two just have such great chemistry together, that's maybe one of the relationships everyone dreams about. The trust, love in their eyes, going through pain together and all the sacrifices. I just loved it. My heart feels heavy and light at the same time, I don't even know anymore. If you are hesitating in watching this, just jump on it, you won't be disappointed.

The music is also a great aspect of this drama. It's not too loud, so it doesn't overlap the actors' voices and it also fits the scenes perfectly. I'm sure you'll find the ost really pleasurable and soothing.

There is one thing I didn't like though.
The MAKE-UP: some of you think some of the actors are naturally tan, especially the male actors. But that's not it at all. The make up wasn't really my cup of tea. If you want to make a person tan then please cover up the ears and hands too, at least when there's a scene in which they do appear. It looked as if the face and the ear of the ml belonged to two different persons.

That's all for my review, I hope it helped. Don't hesitate in watching this, you won't be disappointed.

Bittersweet ending but the only way it can end

I've never really liked bittersweet endings or where the main leads or lead die but this one didn't bother me. It was the only ending it can have that made sense especially for me who felt so bad for Ji Chong. I've never really seen a lot of second leads or part of a love triangle where they do not plot against the male lead to win the female lead. His character was mature, understanding and supportive. In the end, he gave up his love so she can be with her love. He really lived up to the saying, "If you love someone, set them free." I was so heartbroken for him. All the things he did for her and I don't think she really appreciated it that much. At least, we know Ma Jing knew it. Anyway, this ending of Zài Xing dying frees him from seeing Wolfie and Zai Xing living so happily and Zai Xing being sad and alone when Wolfie dies. I know it would have broken his heart even more to see her that way. Am I a fan of Ji Chong? Looks like it. Haha

I enjoyed the other characters also like Ma Jing, Wen Yan, Mo Xiao, Hai Die, Yao Qi and Bao Na. The latter, I'm not sure if I wanted her to be with Ji Chong. She seems too young or immature for him.

The story has a lot of misunderstandings that sometimes, I just wish, they would just explain their reasoning so it would clear it up. But yeah, if that happens, no story. It was a sweet story of a girl and a boy who grew up meeting each other again but in totally different situations that have them hate, love, hate and love each other.

I enjoyed it.

The Moral Lesson of the Wolf

If you have watched all the way, great. I'm sure you will know what I am trying to get to here.

This drama is meant to tell us that not everything goes the way we expect it to go. The tragic ending leaves us in shock. Same with life. Life is unpredictable and uncertain. The Wolf is an example of it. This drama is intense and fills us with excitement. As watchers, we can predict what's happening next and what's going on. But in the story, none of the characters know that there is a huge misunderstanding. Technically, all dramas have misunderstandings in them. If not, there will be no conflict, right?

For this series I had to make an exception! It was that good.

I finished watching this series a few days ago and I am still sorting through the complex feelings it stirred up in me. For me that is a sure sign of an exceptional show! I generally cannot stand to watch anything that does not have a happy ending but it would have been a huge loss not to watch this series just because of that. I am so glad I went ahead even knowing it would break my heart and even though it did, it also let me get better acquainted with an aspect of love that I really benefited from seeing. Unconditional Love.

I won't be able to find the right words to express all the myriad of emotions watching their journey, their struggle to cherish one another against unbelievable odds brought up in me. My heart literally hurt so bad watching some of the scenes I could hardly stand it. So for me the actors 100% did an excellent job of pulling me entirely into their world. I found the overall production quality to be excellent, nothing annoying or obvious to pull me out of a sense of immersion. I REALLY found the soundtrack perfect and seamlessly placed in the various scenes to pull on my heartstrings. The scenery, costumes and combat all worked for me though I admit I do not go into watching these shows with a critical eye but more how completely can they engage all my senses. The Wolf was able to fully sweep me off my feet and take me on an intensely emotional and thought provoking ride. I gained insight from watching it that will stay with me and help me in my own life going forward. Kudos for not only providing a wonderfully entertaining experience but also for giving me some perspectives I had not seen so clearly before. I appreciate it any time a series can help me walk away with a larger understanding of human nature and my own struggle to understand how to work toward living a good life.

I am sure there may be plenty of people who will have technical issues with various aspects of this series but for me I came away with only a sense of absolute satisfaction! I am very sad that my time in their world is over but I will remember their story with a happy and grateful heart. A sincere bow of gratitude to everyone who made The Wolf possible and especially to the actors who made it shine! Every single one of them utterly nailed their role and now I have some new talent to discover :)

...but I will forever remember that I first met them(especially Wolfie) in The Wolf. <3

The Wolf - Emotionally Intense Drama

The Wolf is the most intense drama I've seen to date and it seems like it will remain so for some time into the future. The two main male leads gave great and even astounding performances. Contrary to what most people think, the most powerful performance was given by Li Gin in her role as Ma Zhai Xing/Princess. While Darren Wang and Xiao Zhan gave strong performances as resourceful and confident men and warriors, Li Gin really provided the depth from immature giddiness to total loss, grief, and despair. There were several times when Ma Zhai Xing's hopes and aspirations were lifted only to be dashed that Li Gin's emotional portrayals ripped my heart out. Feelings that only someone who lost a very dear loved one could know. I know some will disagree but, I think men don't struggle nearly as hard with loss and challenges as women feel the loss and grief of betrayal. I know what I just said is controversial, but as far as this drama went, I believe it was Li Gin that gave this drama its depth and power.

Who is the real monster?

This is a beautiful and tragic love story between a boy, who was raised by wolves then had to live as a weapon of war after being abused and manipulated by cruel people, and a girl with a kind heart ( whose fate was also twisted by the same people). The main question of this drama is simple and clear as shown in the last episode: who is the real monster?

To understand the plot, you have to imagine a wolf-boy who never properly learned about what it is like to be a human, as he tries to find his own way to love the only girl who believed in him.

I am not a big fan of C-drama. But this was a pleasant surprise. To all fantasy lovers, strongly recommended.

roller coaster of emotions

I had very mixed feelings about this drama. The plotline centres wolf boy (darren) and his romance with (Li Qin ) i expected there to be some background knowledge told on his background how he got that way etc? the drama gives nothing about his background except one comment of him being left in the forest cause both his parents died? main guys arc was very questionable because they tried to push the he is still nice wolfie but he was so cold even the aura he gave off was completely different. the plot had a lot of potential but really didn’t fulfill what I thought it would and the main guy acted like he had a mood disorder. The scenes where he was tryna make her lose her love for him were very awkward and so toxic. When they first met and starting liking each other it was actually pretty good and their chemistry was great! but as we progressed .. I’ve seen many people comment that it’s cause he’s a complex character which is true but the way they laid down the plot did not address it whatsoever so it feels like a waste :/ Main girl was kinda annoying and really didn’t have much character arc (as for most characters in the show). However, I still did grow a fondness towards this show because the good scenes were still so good i wish it followed a differnt direction (especially with male leads treatment of female lead to make her leave which was unnecessarily crude) but overall it was a well done show and could’ve been way better had they followed a better direction but the story was wrapped up very well and was still really saddening :( could’ve been a 10/10 show if it were executed properly but it still was pretty good. The ost was so goood like every song fit very well. Not sure if i’d recommend someone to watch this but it’s definitely something you’ll remember if you do decide on watching lmao.
