Annoying Secondary Characters

Let me go straight to the points. For me, this is an annoying drama. Despite the fact that Deng Lun is one of my favorite actors, the story, dialogues and acting (apart from Deng Lun’s) are definitely lacking. Most of the characters are super annoying, making me want to throw the pillows at the TV most of the time. The story seems to go around and around. The logic of the story and characters is outrageous and unfathomable. On top of that, the dubbing is super bad with lips not synching. Everything is a cliche and predictable.

Having being so critical of this drama, to be fair, I want to praise its music which is pretty good and I have truly enjoyed it.

If you have better dramas to watch, don't waste time on this one unless you want to watch Deng Lun, or you like Republic era dramas.

I gave the story-line a 7,5 because to me it is not completely badly written. There were good episodes which were really funny especially in the beginning (the 1st episode was really great a 9 in my book).
Later on the story-line deteriorated a bit, portraying HaiTang from a smart girl in episode 1 to a stupid superstitious girl afraid of ghosts.
But... when she divorced Yueming after fixing his face, the story-line started to be better again, until the 1st disaster (stealing of the formula).
When that was resolved I started to feel anxious... YueMing who had accused his brother YueXuan without any good proof, sitting at the feast-meal with a bitter expression on his face.
After that it was one disaster after another. All secretly instigated by YueMing, his sister in law (widow of the dead son) and a little bit by Mohua.
No one was good only the family of HaiTang, HaiTang, YueXian, the little sister of YueXian and the father.
The fun was gone, the frustration started. However I couldn't stop watching even with the knot in my stomach!
With each episode I swore too myself I would stop watching, but the acting was so good I kept watching.

But in the end I felt dissatisfied with the fact that characters who behaved badly, for example brother YueMing never got punished and never even apologized to his brother YueXuan for the things he had done.
It felt unsatisfactory, especially since he got a "reward" in the end when he left to "study abroad", while his brother stayed and worked in the business. I guess YueXian will pay for the studies of his brother YueMing who did all those bad things to him and his girlfriend and while doing so also helped the business to get into trouble (losing money to such an extent that the company had to close because there was no money for the workers).
I even started to fantasize my own ending for this brother... him drowning or being killed while he was abroad.

The mother who as a person was a despicable human being and only had eyes for her biological son Yueming (maybe that was the reason he was completely unaware of the fact that he should take responsibility for his actions).
Treating the daughter in law like a piece of garbage and treating HaiTang badly when she was not the wife of her biological son. Also never apologizing properly to them for her bad behaviour.
Always influencing her husband to give Yueming extra chances and always coming up for excuses for his bad behaviour.

I thought YueXuan and HaiTang were too forgiving towards YueMing.
However I liked in general their storylines together even though there were moments where I thought that HaiTang showed a form of stupidity which I couldn't understand. She made errors in judgment, trusting the wrong persons and not believing the right persons.
For example: When she accused YueXuan of killing her mother (even her own brother found it illogical). If I loved someone I would trust them and would not accuse them of murder without any proof. For me it would have been the end of my relationship (trust is important).

The father was too weak, he didn't stand up to his wife, and made big mistakes but he apologized in the end and owned up to his mistakes. He was one of the supporting characters I liked the most.
The General was funny in his greed. Mohua was flawed but also owned up to her mistakes and in my book that was good enough.

Illogical actions like a miscarriage because of using too much musk never heard of it and Google didn't either, Haitang standing up and walking after her "comatose" stay a little bit unbelievable. But I never saw a Chinese drama that didn't had questionable events/facts written in their story-line.

However I still enjoyed the show, but I need to see something completely uplifting before I rewatch this show again.
But I am sure I will.
The music is great, the visual aspects are beautiful. I even admired their clothes, the embroidery... ok, enough. I think it is worth to watch this show if you leave the logic behind.

why can't people be rightfully mad with those ones who wronged them?

this could have been an interesting watch because of the storyline where she got deceived into getting married to a different man. the fact that she was trying to get her divorce papers regardless of how would she look as a divorcee and her economic situation make for an intriguing show. haitang had to put up with horrible mistreatment from everyone on the family (except yuexuan, and only because he actually realized how he wrong her), having to live together with a man that she have never met before and hadn't agree to marry with. you could actually see how her entire character changed from those initial episodes where she was always in good spirits to downright be miserable.
after she finally got her divorce papers, i keep thinking that she either would get revenge or simply cut off ties with the whole family. but of course she couldn't stay mad nor be indifferent towards them because according to this show you have to be forgiving regardless of what they did to you.
in fact i initially didn’t even wanted that yuexuan and haitang to be together because what he did was actually unforgivable. for me, even though it was nice seeing that he apologized and was genuinely remorse, it was not enough for them to be together. yet the more everybody (especially the lang family) wanted to pull them apart the more i actually wanted for them to be together, because in all honestly even though i hated yuexuan after the wedding i started to like him once they told us he was adopted because it become then evident how he was treated by his family so i couldn't 100% blame him.
the more they showed us his supposedly "good" relationship with the lang family the more i realized the microagressions that he suffered from them (minus the sister, who actually treated him as her older brother). the fact he didn't even noticed (or maybe simply ignore) that there was a vast difference from the way he was treated that the way yueming was treated. i was honestly just feeling sad to see yuexuan giving all his energy everytime for the family and the company only to be blamed for all the bad situations and being reminded repeatedly that he is *actually* not a lang.
to see him feeling better and not be taking by those negatives comments while he was with haitang was actually quite sweet, i keep wanting for him to just literally move out of his family's house and go live with haitang and both of them never having to relate themselves with the lang family, but once again we couldn't have that.
at the end these two putting their lives at risk for yueming –from all people–, i was just furious by then.
not a single apologie or some sort of amendment from anyone, just the lang family saying we did bad stuffs :/ and them going with their lives as if it was nothing. it was just awful.
honestly the lang were just so evil i keep wanting the villain to actually win (until he started just doing way too much evil things) and lang li chun to dissappear.
i thought several times to just drop this but i actually liked haitang and yuexuan, and i always kinda finish shows even if it's making me angry. either way you can watch it for those two because there is definitely not another good thing.

Story
I give the rating 6 for the part of the story because I feel for the part of the story, this drama has many holes, after I watched the last episode I was surprised and asked if Father Haitang was killed after he did makeup for Yue Xuan's mother, how could it be after accidental Yuexuan seeing his stepfather shijizhou kill his mother and hiding in the closet could see shijizhou fighting withHaitang's Father and then shijizhou killing him ... a hole big enough for this drama at the end, besides that makes me very disappointed with the storyline of this drama is a lot of bad character from this drama that is free without overwriting any problems (not having to die but not even given a sentence or go to prison) after a barrage of evil deeds that have been done for example: yueming, miaolan, xingqiao (including criteria of a very evil person and many times committed a very bad crime) chu-chu who did not receive any punishment for their actions was even released and vice versa with the stepson Shijizhou "Shidiwen" so innocent, innocent, sorry, and always beaten by his father who instead died at the end of the story,I even cried very sadly when I saw Shidiwen die at the end of the drama, he who was so kind and always beaten instead had to go away as a result of his father's actions ... really unfair to him, so with Uncle Jin, who has worked for years with the Lang family (one of the good character too) who even died at the end of the drama, I think about how people see the drama's storyline going forward ... doing good does not produce good fruit instead Good people are always deluded and despised The last must accept the bad, a ending to a drama that really disappoints me actually ... but I finish it too just for DENGLUN, and I am very enamored with his acting skills that never disappoint me in whatever drama he plays ...

Acting
for point acting I give a rating of 10 because I feel all casts have good acting skills and of course especially DENGLUN,his acting when serious, joking, sad, angry ... everything looks very natural ... he's really a talented actor.
liyitong has a pretty good acting in my opinion too, but for acting crying I feel like ZhangyaZhuo as langmohua has better acting skills, so certainly with senior artists carmen lee and alex fong who certainly have no doubt about their acting, but for my entire cast feel quite satisfied with their acting skills

Music
I quite like the soundtrack for this drama series, especially those sung by DENGLUN and AHLAN entitled waiting for love "deng ai", I really like their beautiful voice collaboration

Rewatched Value
I give point 6 for rewatched value because maybe I will not repeat the second time this drama because the end of the story that I think is half satisfied (satisfied because the two main characters get a good ending and not satisfied because many evil characters are even so free and do not get any punishment for their actions which is very outrageous)

SO OVERALL I GIVE 7.5 FOR THIS DRAMA...
I hope my review does not offend anyone...THANKYOU

It was hard to get into it the first time but I gave it another shot because I couldn't find anything else to watch. I've been watching it on the side while casually gaming (mind you I'm still paying attention and getting the important details) and honestly, if I weren't watching it while multitasking, I 100% wouldn't be able to get through more than a few episodes. I like Deng Lun but this drama was just so unwatchable that I couldn't continue on even if just for him. The plot is too predictable right off the bat in a bad way: it's just your typical rich guy/poor girl drama where both families have a backstory and secrets that are tied together and most characters are/become evil or annoying in some way. It gets tiring to watch characters go back and forth between doing X then Y and rinse/repeat. The only reason I *might* continue is for ML/FL and their siblings pair, but it's highly unlikely. I dropped at ep 34 and I think it's safe to say I've gotten far enough to know how this drama will continue to unfold for the remaining 15-20 eps.

The verdict: highly do not recommend.

The main reason I watch this drama is because of the two main leads, Deng Lun and Li Yi Tong. I've watched their other dramas and I like both of them, so I was excited to watch this and came in with high expectation. I was off to a good start. The first couple of episodes are good and interesting. However, I quickly loose interest as I don't particularly care or like the cosmetics storyline and the plot seemed confusing to me, plus there are many supporting characters that I found annoying. I'm not one to drop dramas and have to stick to it until the end. The drama quickly becomes draggy and I no longer put in 100% effort in watching it and only really watch it when it's Deng Lun and Li Yi Tong's scenes. I do, however, like the songs, particularly the ending theme song. If you like the actors, you can give it a try. You might have different tastes than me.
