As much as people bash this drama, I have to say.. I LOVED it. The plot line was great, the emotional pain from each character was intense and well thought out.

I see people saying that some of the actors/actresses didn't do well or didn't fit the roles which I disagree with completely. Joy was great in this.. she played her emotionally damaged character amazingly. I felt that she really brought all the pain through with everything she did.

For example, after Shi-Hyun (Woo Do-Hwan) reveals the plan to Tae-Hee (Joy) She feels hurt and betrayed but she can't help but continue to feel these intense feelings towards Shi-Hyun. Hatred but love.

People seem to be numb to the fact that her character was incredibly emotionally unstable because of all the shit that happened to her throughout the story and how much she presented herself as a strong character and closed herself off from love because of the events between her mother and her father, and I believe in that manner Joy played this character REALLY well.

I felt the chemistry to be quite good and made me cry quite a bit. It wasn't intense sobbing or anything (we'll leave that to DOTS) but it was a decent cry. (ESPECIALLY when Shi-Hyun cries/cried.

In conclusion I felt this drama to be quite good despite what most people have said and i honestly think Joy did amazing in her role despite what anyone thinks. I honestly have rewatched this drama a few times but i feel like after 1-2 rewatches it's kinda boring.

Unlike most of the opinions here I surprisingly enjoyed...I'd rather say LOVED this drama !! The whole drama was not perfect I have to admit but I found it lovely. The reasons are:

???? The Actors: The casting was well chosen (especially for the young actors).
I really loved Woo Do Hwan and Joy's chemistry. I was so emotional every time I saw them together in the drama (I screamed, laughed, giggled). Their relationship was so cute ! The other characters like Se Joo and Soo Ji were also touching, I could not hate them even when they did wrong. And Damn they are all good-looking folks!
(I did not really enjoyed the parents but they were ok. )

???? The Music: I really enjoyed the drama's OST ! It always made me in a good mood and DK's song...so touching <3 <3
The classical music used for the background was conceptual and contributed to the overall atmosphere of the drama.

???? The plot itself is not faithful to the original novel but they managed to create something quite interesting. I often got bored when I saw the parents/adults on the screen but the young adults' parts always captivated me. The drama was a bit long and the end was rushed. I am a bit disappointed that there is no real future for the team Soo Ji, Se Joo, Si Hyun. And even if there is a happy ending for the main couple, I wanted to see more (like a hug or how they would live together after 5 years) !!

Even with these critics I still plan to rewatch it in a few months or years because I really enjoyed the actors' chemistry and the overall mood of the drama! I really spent good times watching this drama, so I'll definitely watch it again !

I have read a lot of criticism against this drama, and I suppose that is because of the hype leading up to the release. And so I wanted to focus on the praise I have for this drama.

This was the drama that ultimately caused me to go back to watching k-dramas, I have to admit I’m a sucker for these Wattpad-story-like plots where there is a bad boy who ultimately falls in love with the good girl. Joy is one of my biggest girl crushes so I couldn’t be happier with the casting. I had read the synopsis and so I had some expectations since it was a storyline I was heavily invested in, yet I ended up feeling content with how they decided to pull it off - although throughout the drama I sometimes had to skip forward out of frustration. Despite all this I enjoyed watching it, however it’s not something I would consider rewatching again since the effect is only really there the first time.

I just binge watched this show in 2 days (yes I have no life). I have a lot to say so bear with me. Okay guys *cracks knuckles*
Note: The plot seems promising at first but it eventually turns into your average kdrama plot. My rating is not good because of the plot but because of the brilliantly well-written characters and the amazing acting by the main cast. It's a one time watch. Have fun watching it and don't take it that seriously. Before watching it throw out all your expectations and assumptions (especially if you've read the book or watched Dangerous Liasions (1988) or Cruel Intentions (1999).

First of all, the cast is amazingly good. The acting is phenomenal. Woo Do Hwan did a great job portraying Shi Hyun. He had the whole melancholic, guilty and conflicted vibe of the character down to a T. Also he oozed sexiness and cuteness as required by the scene. He was perfect to play this character. Now, Moon Ga Young was the one who stole the show. She portrayed Soo Ji's character so perfectly. Joy also did well. I didn't expect much from her but she exceeded my expectations. All the other actors too played their characters very well. The characters are so very well-written. They are complex characters with deep flaws and fears. They pull from you the reactions they desire. The characters are multifaceted and you can't just only hate or love them. You come to identify with them, sympathize with them despite their faults and feel what they are going through. Honestly though, it's hard to find such truly well-written, complex, flawed characters that truly seem human. The plot is loosely based on the French novel 'Les Liaisons dangereuses'. I've read the book and seen the American adaptation. So I was very apprehensive to be honest. 4 episodes in I got so attached with the characters that I mentally prepared myself to bawl my eyes out. Anyway, it's a very loose adaptation. The plot was very good in the beginning. The whole mystery factor coupled with suspected betrayals and twisted games was very interesting. It gave you high hopes. Though the plot seems obvious and the twists predictable but it was still enough to get you hooked. Though I was sorely disappointed when they didn't turn out as I expected. I expected it to be more dark, twisted and gritty. A true tragedy. It wasn't though. It started lagging in the middle. Most plot reveals were milder than we had been lead to believe. It picked back up in the ending. I was really surprised (in a good way) by the ending because I was expecting something very different. But the ending was good.Honestly, what made this show worth watching was the amazingly well-written and beautifully portrayed characters. The acting was the best thing about this show. The plot failed to meet the expectations it created in the starting. But at least it wasn't that disappointing. Many kdramas have worse endings and truly lacking plots. It was still a good watch. It gets you hooked and you just have to see it through to the end.

Honestly speaking I did enjoy this show but it could have done better. No hate to Joy, I love Red Velvet, but the role didn’t really suit her. For me, Joy suits the sexy, mature role rather than the role she had in the drama (I don’t know how to describe it). On the other hand, the supporting female actress was so good. She felt more like a leading actress than Joy. I think her name was Moon Ga Young but either way she was amazing and i mainly watched the show for her. Kudos to the other male actors (leading and supporting) they were both really good and knew how to portray their roles in an entertaining enticing way. As a side note: for this plot I feel that they should have made Joy’s role a stronger character. Her role was too much of a weak character for my taste. Like I didn’t really feel any strong emotions when it came to scenes where the character would get really mad or upset.

A dare which changes the life

•A bet, a challenge, a dare which ultimately changes your life.

•Story- so its based on dangerous liaisons where a dumped girl wants revenge and uses her best friends. And ending wasn’t even appealing. Jumps to a timeshift with leads meeting again. Nobody gets the punishment for their wrongdoings is not satisfactory. It went draggy somewhere

•Acting-Choi soo ji was very bully, manipulative and mean. She was like playing with everyone life around her. Tae hee was our usual hard working, confident female lead falling for a bad guy. Her performance was good but not impressive that I would remember. Woo Do Hwan as Kwon si hyun is the only character which makes you finish the show. Otherwise I would have dropped it. His dilemmas with family, friend and love was beautifully presented. The only part I hated was why he didn’t make a decision and just go and forth between his friends and love. His ways of wooing tae hee was also nice.

•Music- OMG by joy had some great music and this ost was my fav.
•Rewatch- no, as this drama was hard to finish the first time only. If I had to rewatch only the romance scenes would be worth it
•conc-Dark and painful story but fails to impress inspite of the good cast. And as high schoolers can they really do that going around clubs seducing teacher and talking shit. This was the very worst kind of student discipline. Appreciation would be for how they all try to keep their friendship but they already had created wedge from the start of the story.

So Sad

The reason I watch this is because I saw a video of Kwon Shi Hyun and Choi Soo Ji, I love how they are goods friends and have a little bit of love? But while watching this I don't really like the main couple Kwon Shi Hyun and Eun Tae Hee(maybe because I like the character Soo Ji so much), but I just focus on Choi Soo Ji and Lee Se Joo. Ahh, I really hope they will be together though, at the end it kinda an open ending, but for my fave, I will see it as Choi Soo Ji now opened her heart for Lee Se Joo ☺

was a highly anticipated drama starring joy as FL

imo did not live up to its expectations, too many cliches and you could tell what was going to happen.
the character who carried this drama was sejoo (played by kim minjae)
the rest of the characters were boring and cliche, didn’t have the oomf factor like my baby sejoo did >:c
fl&ml were super awkward and had no chemistry imo
second fl played her character well but i just dont like her in general so the cast wasn’t that great for me, esp joy
i dont think her acting is on par w the rest?? she did ok but thats bc her character isn’t that hard to play w idol actors. sejoo was the only character who was refreshing to watch in the drama. i felt so bad that he liked 2nd fl but she liked the ml lead instead and to make it worst they’re all friends but they always seem to leave him out? anyway he outsold ml :/

The Great Seducer will take you on a turbulent journey of mischief, turmoil, and high-spirited action. A modern tale of Romeo and Juliet where the main characters fall into a deeply passionate romance, destined to end in tragedy. The way in which the story unfolds will take you by surprise, with a series of shocking twists that nobody could have foreseen. Immerse yourself in the beautiful Kwon Si Hyun (Woo Do Hwan), as he chases after Eun Tae Hee (Red Velvet Joy). What an absolute masterpiece!!!

I love the story this Kdrama tells. This is the first that I've come across that tells this type of story regarding close friendships and a close-knit storyline. The writers capture what growing up together in the same city and in the same neighborhood. These friendships can tear each other apart by jealousy and deceit for sure. All the secrets and games one pulls off in friendship. Woo Do-Hwan and Joy did awesomely and the chemistry was there. In matter of fact, all the cast did well. The emotions were driving me crazy! I'm glad that it ended well so thank you screen writers.

Firstly I had zero expectations and bias going into it. From the promotions it was portrayed as very dark and sexy but it soon became much brighter and romantic which is what made some viewers disappointed and led to their bad reviews. I'm not sure why else anyone would rated it lower than 5/10 even if it's not their style. There's nothing particularly bad about it. I recommend watching it if you love romance since if you are in it for the intrigue then you will get bored quickly. To me this drama's like those old romance chaebol ones but the female lead isn't annoying and people are more realistic. I think Lovely's review was really accurate and she already put my thoughts into words.

In essence it's about crazy rich people playing crazy rich people games. However it's a lot more romance focused than I expected. I feel like they could've done more crazy games since that's what it was advertised as and was what made it unique. But keep in mind this is a Korean drama adaption. So it's more innocent than how the book probably is. Although it's lacking in crazy future mother-in-laws, it's got all the crazy twists, turns and links of rich people in old Korean dramas. While it does have a strong focus on family and friend relationships it's done in a different feel to most Korean dramas. Most importantly it's got what I love about Korean dramas and that's character development. More than any real plot or story it's a slow unfolding of the characters and how they change and grow.

The acting was pretty good, especially considering the main cast are all young, rookie actors. I already knew Kim Min-jae is good. Joy's improved since her last drama, she had no faults in this one so I'm not sure what the complaints are about. I'd never heard or seen Woo Do-hyun before but he was a really good surprise. He outshined Kim Min-jae and I'm looking forward to his future works. Moon Ga-young was the weakest out of the four main leads for me. Her stare was too blank sometimes but it's hard to play a 2D angsty tantrum thrower for long periods of time. I won't go into the supporting cast but they were mostly fine. Rather than the acting the characters and script were a bit weak, especially outside the main leads, but not so much that it deserves such low ratings.

I'm not sure why people didn't like Eun Tae-hee, Joy's acting or Woo Do-hyun's acting. Eun Tae-hee was less annoying than 95% of Korean drama female leads in my opinion. She was independent, believed in herself, those around her, and in her decisions. If we are going to talk about annoying characters I would name tantrum-throwing, self-centred Choi Soo-ji who lives in a woe-is-me world. Also it's been a while since I squealed at the cuteness of a couple, they were utterly adorable, romantic, and probably in the top 5 couples I've shipped in recent years. I've found my couple squealing to be stale of late so it's quite impressive.

Overall it was very angsty, somewhat sweet, and I love the main couple. They were really cute and mature in the handling of their relationship. I was strongly rooting for them the whole time. The script and direction could've been developed more to make it a better drama. It wasn't plot driven either so I understand some people find that boring and the angst frustrating. Another thing to note is I skip parts of dramas all the time, usually the old crazy people parts, and this drama wasn't an exception to that. It wasn't perfect but what was good was great and I don't believe it deserves the negative criticism it seems to be receiving. Especially the amount of criticism on the main cast which was the best aspect.

Quote: What's so great about men? It's not like you die if you don't date. - Eun Tae-hee

The male lead is hot, but...

I did not like this drama because of the storyline. I felt it was a bit too cruel, so I dropped it after watching about 6 or 7 episodes. However, the acting was on point, the production was great, and even the script was pretty good. I just don't enjoy watching rich traumatized teens/young adults intentionally try to destroy someone else's life that did nothing to them.

Not my cup of tea...

Woo Do Hwan is FINE!!!!!
