Both dramas have a time travel aspect and I feel like the reason as to why they time travel are very similar. *SPOILER ALERT* I wouldn't necessarily say this is a spoiler but, you know, just to be sure. I feel like the reason the characters in both dramas are experiencing time traveling is because it will help them realize what they value most in life and pursue it.
Both dramas are also focused on job occupations (though one is about doctors and the other is about police officers).

Similarities-
-The main leads must interact with the past in order to change the future.
-Both stories deal with a serial murder case that started in the 1980's and is still occurring in the present.
-unpredictable story line with several plot-twists.
-A love interest is murdered spiraling the main character into solving the unsolved case.
-The story starts with both characters getting a severe physical injury.
-Nostalgia atmosphere/aesthetic
Differences
-Life on Mars has one male lead experiencing a time traveling phenomenon, whereas, in Time Renegades there is two people.
-Life on Mars is much more of a buddy cop police drama whereas Time Renegades is a psychological fantasy based around the crimes surrounding the love interests.
-There is more of a focus of romance in Time Renegades than Life on Mars.
-Life on Mars is more comedic than Time Renegades.
Honestly, both stories are underrated and great picks for time-loop dramas. Definitely check it out!!

Both have a main character who is hallucinating/not really living the main story line throughout the drama. Both end in a way that is uncertain or not really clear cut endings. Both are almost sad in a way.

Similar in terms of the 'time travel' aspect and the two main leads trying to change the outcome of certain things. They both go back to the '80s.

A big difference between the two is that in 'Life On Mars' the main lead goes back with his entire body, that is to say, he's there while his younger self is there as well. There are thus certain things he can't fix, since there is a paradox in play here.

In 'Boku dake ga Inai Machi' the main lead goes back in time in a completely different way. He goes back to the time he was a child and is IN his own 11-year old body. He can create different timelines, so the before mentioned paradox does not come into play in this drama.

I'm recommending Life on Mars for Alice because both shows deal with police investigations, however Life on Mars deal with a detective who travels from the present to the past.

LoM has a bitter-sweet ending that you would not see coming where Alice had the beginning where you are like "Ok, what effect does this have on the future."
