There is no plot summary, so i will sum what i can.
The story line is very similar to those out there.
Our main girl character is called into the palace along with two others to be companions to the princess in the palace.
She has no interest in staying in the palace because she has a childhood sweetheart.
Out of the two others, one of them has their eyes set on the crown prince, but of course the crown prince has his eyes set on our main girl.
There lies the jest of the story.  Who does she end up with, the prince or her childhood sweetheart.

Throw into the story a couple of sidelines, and of course someone is out to kick the crown prince out of his throne, you get the jest of it all.

Overall, its nothing new, but a very modern-ish portrayal of palace life.

Plot: The show is all about love triangle, Shuyuan used to love someone else before coming to palace but catches the eye of both crown prince and 4th prince. Crown prince is a impulsive, childish and arrogant but he truly loves Shuyuan, whereas the 4th prince is reserved, decisive and smart.
Since the duration of this show is quite less compared to normal shows instead of just focusing on the development of story between Yinreng (crown prince), Shuyuan and Yinzheng(4th prince) they allotted so much time in the love story of other character, for example since its about love triangle the character of crown prince is quite clear but the character of 4th prince is very complex and it would have been a lot more better if he takes off his layers in front of Shuyuan thus making him fall for her but he falls for her without any proper basis of connection between them. Also the editing and execution is bad, otherwise the story is not bad.
1st season is all about the crown prince trying to woo the girl and the girl saving him from his foolishness.
Acting/ Cast: The cast is good considering they r not much experienced.

This review is for Season 1 and 2. This drama is about palace politics and betrayals. The main characters are trapped by the delusions of the emperor and the princes all fall under the schemes of the bad guys. This is not a love story, although there is a main romantic plot and some other side stories, the plot is more about the fight for the throne. The story is poorly written and the characters went from almost comedic to dark and depressing on the second season. The best acting comes from the antagonist; the rest of the cast did not perform so well and the end, and the good guys end tragically. The leading lady went from very smart on the first season to someone lacking good judgment. Overall, the drama is not that good!

Seeing the murderous Yongzheng brought to life will leave you traumatized

The writers and actors did the best they could with this macabre, true-life story about Emperor Yongzheng who ascended the Qing dynasty throne after plotting against and murdering many of his brothers (and possibly his father-Emperor Kangxi).

I cannot state enough how this story will break your heart. So many deaths, so many betrayals...and for what? Yongzheng barely made it through 15yrs on the throne before he himself was eventually poisoned. The biggest irony is that he killed hundreds of thousands because of his paranoia yet ended up being killed by the one person who slept next to him. Props to whoever that woman was cos she did the whole world a great service.

The only good thing Yongzheng ever did was to sire Hongli, the Qianlong Emperor, who reigned for 60 years and is considered one of China's most successful monarchs.
That said, I did wonder whether Hongli's success was inadvertently made possible because his father had killed off his potential detractors. I mean, there was literally no one left except for some obscure uncles...even Hongli's half-brothers were put to death at a young age. I would recommend watching Story of Yanxi Palace if you don't mind a romanticized retelling of the Qianlong Emperor's harem.
