I wanted to like this drama so much! It had a lot going for it and yes it was a little weird but I was ok with that. It fell flat for me.

STORY: I get that the story was based off webtoon and I had never seen the webtoon. I loved the drama at the beginning of the drama. It was cute and quirky but something happened in the middle. It dragged A LOT! The drama had a couple of storylines that I grew to not care about so when the drama veered toward those storylines, I lost interest in the drama. I saw no point in some storylines and even some characters. It ended good, I was satisfied with the ending and the story had its cute moments and charm but it just got Messy in the middle (trying not to give anything away) I also don't think it needed to be 16 episodes...It would have done fine with 10 or 12 which is probably one of the reason why it dragged a little in the middle.

CAST: I didn't mind the acting at all. Overall I thought it was good. The 3 main leads were fantastic but again since I didn't think some of the support characters needed to be in the drama, that hurt my opinion of the acting of those characters. Some characters were just tooo over the top for my taste BUT I LOVED THE 3 MAIN LEADS! I also liked that the female professor was a strong character who knew what she wanted.

MUSIC: I don't remember much about the music at all

REWATCH VALUE: I will probably will not rewatch this entire thing ever again but maybe a couple of the sweet scenes though

OVERALL: It says it in the title: The drama was cute but Messy. The story dragged in the middle and I felt some of the characters didn't need to be in it but it made me feel warm and fuzzy and the 3 leads were great!

Not a masterpiece, but instead it was a beautiful drama that leaves your heart warm :> by the way I really really love the clip shown in the end where the beggar girl (geum's first life) get up and see that the little girl that was locked up (jung's first life) was finally free and smiling while sleeping so soundly--i really really love how they zoom the camera to that beggar girl being all happy and smiling knowing that she had saved the life of the little girl.

geumi sonsaeng is just too pure! T.T kim kimmmm

such a heartwarming drama that i would love to watch again . now i feel like it is better to watch every bromance of geum and jung knowing that kind of bond they shared from their very first life

although I am a bit disappointed that Yoon Hyun Min in reality is the second lead this drama is overall a 10

Actors & actresses perfect 10/10

Scenery Perfect 10/10

Plot Perfect 10/10

Ending perfect even though it's not above what I wanted it is better than a sad ending because for some reason lots of 2018 dramas had sad ending or maybe I just chose the wrong dramas to watch 10/10

I would even watch a second season of this maybe with a storyline of Jeom Dol falling for the child of professor Jung

If i could rate this more than a 10 I would

This drama is worth to watch

At first I start watching it with a little bit of hope that this drama going to be a good one, but after watching half of the first episode, I stop for a while because I'm getting bored with the story. But I continue again after a few days, and I just can stop watching it. It just so good. I don't really have much expectations at first but it turns out that this drama it worth to watch every episodes. Even though the animation graphic thingy is not like that Hollywood's kind of level but it just so cute! I love the spoon worm Jeom Dol the most! He is just soo freaking adorable even though he only shows up almost at the end of the drama but I just adore him.

The main storyline of this drama was very sweet and angsty and intriguing - but just the main storyline, the rest I skipped, I admit it freely. The story of Professor Jung & his TA Kim Geum was still worth watching, though.

I loved the re-incarnation storyline, that Professor Jung & Kim Geum actually switched between genders - and species, ha! And I loved their connection, that Professor Jung thought that nobody ever took his side, that nobody ever stood up for him when Kim Geum had always been there. It was really sweet.

Another thing I loved was that the actress playing Mrs. Fairy looked older than the actor playing Kim Geum. Usually, when an immortal being finds his or her lost love reincarnated, said love interest is of the “proper” - read cliché - age: when it’s a woman, she’s younger looking than the immortal man, when it’s a man, he’s older looking than the immortal woman. Like I said, cliché. But here, Kim Geum wasn’t just younger - 699+ years younger - he also looked younger. And not just because Mrs. Fairy took the appearance of a granny from time to time. There was a 10 year age gap between the actors!

Also, I loved the fact that their kids were… unusual. I mean, one was a shape changing tigress, the other was a huge dragon. And especially tiger girl loved Kim Geum even before she found out he was her long lost dad reincarnated. Funny thing when your daughter looks almost as old as you, ha!

So, yeah, the main storyline is great. The rest… eh.

I had a lot of dissonance while watching this because I kept trying to like the ML and couldn't. 2ML was the lead in my heart from the start. In this way I think the writers did a good job of helping me feel what the fairy was feeling (supposed to like one but drawn to another).

Was this a great drama? Not particularly. Like many others it had plot holes. But I liked the way my well-founded genre expectations were challenged. 2ML and Jeon Soon were both fun characters to watch. So despite

(1) my lack of appreciation for FL's portrayal (I really struggled to understand why every character fell in love with her--I'm wondering if this was an issue of casting)
(2) my loathing for the excessively flat characterization of the 2FL and
(3) the absurdity of the three other local immortals (Teacher Goo. Fairy Oh and Wizard Park) who were more like the three stooges than actual people (really--is that how ridiculous you are after living over 600 years?),

I was engaged enough to watch this entire love triangle drama.

And the ending...I would have totally expected the sweet and substance-less disintegration from a Taiwanese drama. Here it was a bit of a surprise (and let down). Like the cotton candy (or cloud candy) so prominently shown in the finale, everything faded into rosy-tinted happily ever after. But really, can a ML truly have that dramatic of a change? The professor was so gentle and empathetic and almost glowing at the end.

Chaotic humour; silly fantasy; cute, laid-back, quirky plotline that delivers more than it lets on.

So, a professor and his young TA goes to a remote area (TA's home province) and stumbles upon a fairy cafe and meets, yeah, a fairy, very much in flesh and blood, who's waiting for her human husband's reincarnation for 699 years. The story is pretty playful and have a very quirky and sometimes childlike sense of humour. A triad of fairies in tacky clothes only exist for constant gag reels. At first, I was a bit annoyed, but Geon Han is really good, and they are kind of ridiculously funny sometimes. But as I said, Shin Seon is my fave and I won't lie - out of annoyance I did skip a few scenes of the other two. The heart of the story though initially comes off as a romance triangle, and believe me when I say, without any of the bitterness you'd associate with the genre. I was surprised that some viewers didn't like the pairing, because the show pretty much one sidedly kept hinting at who this mystery husband could be. Now, about the three central characters - it's surprisingly refreshing to see someone so young (and gawd so sweet!) put into this mix with such a firm footing. Moon Chae Won has to be at least 10 years older than Seo Ji Hoon (and he was probably 21 when he filmed this drama) and oddly it never felt particularly problematic considering how she first appeared as a granny. What I loved is how Kim Geum is so boyish and cute and doesn't act like a grown up to counter the maturity of the other characters. He looks young and acts young. It works because despite her 699 years of age, fairy Ok Nam is also a bit childish and liberatingly frank. I had to laugh at the absolute cuteness when she started crying 'kingkongi!?' at the movie theatre and Kim Geum just joined her in the sobbing?. He also looked mighty cute with that flower in his hair. It was fun to see something so different work so smoothly. His professor has the angst and also a sweet brotherly bond with him, but I was never convinced of something special between him and the fairy, the plot was adamant about that part. Then this romance triangle sneakily transformed into a much mysterious story of lost memories and past lives. This drama didn't skimp on the same-sex nods and one of these is crucial to the plot. The ending is surprisingly deeper than the rest of the story, the tension they built for the first half was efficiently used to reveal something deep about the human nature, the desire for revenge and redemption and salvation from resentment. Izy of Mizar was really elegant and captured the pain of a multifaceted and 'faced?' character with heart (I think MDL doesn't have her in the actors list. Odd?). The ending on a whole wasn't bad but Professor Jung received more of a rounded ending than say, Geom. All through the story, in all his forms he has been incredibly good and still suffered greatly. In the end he and the fairy needed to have their alone moment where they finally get to have each other forever.
PS: #Spoon worm Jeom Dol was so cute with those little beady eyes!?
#One of my best comedic moments is how the fairy receives Jeom Dol's egg with a sticky note like 100 years ago from now and I was like 'wth was that?' and then they actually tied this plot up! With a little time-loop! Which made me want to know. from where those towels landed out of nowhere for Kim Geom to take that bath in the fairy falls. But they never said?
#One plot hole: I still don't understand how Izy burned that village. Did she go into the past? Exactly what happened there?
#I'm not a fan of the final scene, but I guess I already said that.
So, all in all, I was surprised that I liked this drama, more so in case of the romance. The drama is too goofy, and the CGI is so bad I have to conclude that it was somehow intentional. Because of this playfulness I was annoyed at times but conversely also laughed quiet a lot (especially later). There is this scene where Ok Nam suddenly starts dancing with the Nigerian exchange coffee fairy (yeah he exists-_-) and that's the spirit of this drama. All the serious moments are often broken by silly comedic tones and despite the silliness the seriousness doesn't falter. I liked that about the drama. So, even though my average score should be 7, I awarded it an extra .5 for the unexpected pleasures.
(Also, I think I watched 2 end credit scenes; I wonder if all the episodes have one?).

PLOT : The storyline is based on a Korean folk tale about you guessed it  Fairy and the Woodcutter. But the kick is, you don't know until the last episode who really is the woodcutter and what happened in the Fairy realm.  It's such a cute story and the actors really portrayed it well. The Plot was very well built, I loved the other fairies(they gave us some of the best scenes in the whole drama). My favorite person in this Kdrama was Jeom Soon, the daughter of Fairy and the Woodcutter, who can change into a tiger and writes one of the most popular fanfics on the internet.
THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN OUR MAIN COUPLE(S)? : So from the first episode, we are told that the woodcutter is the rude and cold  Professor Jung Yi-Hyun, at least that's what our Fairy thinks. But the sweet and nice student Kim Geum starts to think he could be the woodcutter too. The chemistry was good between both of those couples, I seriously was guessing until the last episode who was the woodcutter and I can say that I was wrong in my guesses.
HOW IT ENDS: Unexpected! That's the only thing I can say without spoiling the ending! It's such a great KDrama and I definitely recommend you to check it out!

I started watching this because I was bored

I wanted to watch this when it was airing but didn't have time (at that point in time). I have some free time now, so I'm looking through the dramas I have backlogged...

*About the cast*
The main cast in this drama (and honestly even the side cast) are actors and actresses I've seen in other dramas so I know the acting will not be a problem.

*About the plot*
The biggest problem is the writing of this drama. It's pretty predictable so don't expect insane plot twists or anything. Nothing wrong with that, just take note. It's a pretty light-hearted drama with really not much plot so if you're expecting one, this is not the drama for you. It's the typical quirky exaggerated drama so you can expect exaggerated acting and ridiculous situations. I would not go as far as to say as this drama is freaking hilarious, but it might just be the drama you need when you don't want to use your brain.

*About the music*
Appropriate and cute.

*Rewatch value*
Pretty boring even on the first watch so definitely not worth rewatching in my honest opinion.

Show is quite enjoyable but there are too many imperfections.

I decided to watch this drama because of Moon Chae Won. I had liked her for so long as an actress and my love for her regained after watching Flower of Evil. But I realized except for Princess's Man, Painter of the Wind, Innocent Man, Flower of Evil, Brilliant Legacy, and some clips of her It's Okay Daddy's Girl and My Fair Lady; I haven't seen her other filmograohy. I decided to give Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter a go since Moon Chae Won wears hanbok in this drama, and I love seeing her in hanbok.
I rate the story only a 6.5. The positives of this show is that there is a plot twist that makes this drama interesting, and from the title of the show, the plot twist is not obvious. Seeing the title and short summary of the drama, people would think it's just about a fairy and the show's goal is only for the fairy to find out which of the two guys is her husband from years ago. However, as the story goes on, we discover that the dramas is also about friendship, acceptance, loyalty, and valuing yourself as much as about romance. The character of the professor, I didn't expect at first how his background gave so much twists to the story. An additional plus in the show is that the cute and lighthearted moments between the fairy and either of her two love interests, or the love interests with each other is good and enjoyable to watch. For the negatives however, there are some plotholes. I didn't understand why the fairy has to appear as an old woman to most people. Nor do I understand what kind of relationship should you have with the fairy for someone to see her young. The female professor for example, saw her as old at first then saw her young later (was it because she was getting to know the fairy more since the fairy is becoming more involved with her male professor friend?). I'm also confused as to why the villages in Gyeryong (Kim Geum's mom for example) didn't know the fairy and her fairy friends since it is such a small town and the fairy friends live in that town most of the time. And the most annoying thing is the lack of explanation for fairy's kids. How and why are they reborn as cat and worm/dragon (plus for the dragon/worm I didn't understand how the barista fairy said that all the powers of the world is in the egg of that dragon)? Do they die and live again for the hundreds of years their fairy mom waits for her husband? And last thing I'm wondering is what will happen to the fairy and the husband she chose after they got married? Is he coming back with her to the fairy world or is the fairy and her kids transforming into real humans to stay with him there (how weird is it that the young husband has a 20 year old looking daughter)? There's no rating for visual effects here, but I'm just gonna include it for the story's rating and gosh, the visual effects and CGI are just below average. I could have rated this show lower but since the plot twist of the drama as well as the morals plus lighthearted moments are really good (plus Moon Chae Won in hanbok is just so wonderful to see), so a 6.5 should be the fairest rating I can give to the story.
Actingwise, I give this drama an 8.5. Moon Chae Won as the fairy acted just good enough for her role. Her crying scenes are my most favorite of hers actingwise since she's really good in it. Her character of the fairy does not demand much of her acting skills though, thus despite being her usual good acting self, she doesn't come off as particularly impressive. But she's good enough and she embodied the character of the good hearted beautiful fairy well. Yoon Hyun Min is really impressive. For me at least, his character is the one that requires the most acting skills. His role of professor has such a complicated background and past, it's difficult to express the emotions of a character that had to overcome such difficult past. Fans of Yoon Hyun Min could really enjoy this drama if they want to focus on his acting instead of what happens to his character. Seo Ji Hoon is Kim Geum is also good, he was charming and was able to portray the character well. Rest of the cast is great. Surprised to see Ahn Kil Kang from Queen Seon Deok in here as a funny fairy. Due to his serious character in Queen Seon Deok which has remained in me for so long, it was really hard for me to imagine him in a comic role. But after watching him here and in Iljimae (which I just saw recently), I'm starting to think comedy might be one specialty of his.
The music is good but not particularly memorable, It doesn't affect much my enjoyability of the drama so an 8 should be a good rating.
5 for rewatch value. I don't think I'm gonna rewatch the drama again, but I might watch in the future some of my favorite scenes.
Overall a 6.5 rating for this drama.
