Omg I love their clothing, it's so pretty, the sets were amazing and the CGI wasn't too horrible.
Tbh this is my first C-drama, I was drawn to watch it because many The Untamed crack vids came up on my YouTube feed. I don't like watching dramas longer than 20 episodes but this drama kept me hooked till the end. I have also never had a drama that would make want to read the novel, to do a rewatch marathon and also watch the breakdown on the scenes.

This drama doesnt deserve its high rating. If you dont like BL, dont even have the thoughts of trying to watch it.
If you like Wuxia, please no. You will just get dissappointed.
Good story? Nice plots? And Twist? Not on par of the ratings.
Even the actions or fight choreography. Man it was so bad, I thought this was a comedy. I am not even hoping for a IP Man like choreos but I am really so dissappointed on this.
Some will defends this drama becoz this one have familial love, friendship, character driven nonsense and shits. No, it was not on par of the ratings.
Many will get butthurt becoz of my review and I am willing to be the sacrifice so that you all will not be wasting your time on this.

ok it’s been years since i watched this but complaining knows not the constraints of passing time. for ME how good a mdzs adaptation is depends entirely on how they tackle the lotus pier massacre and here it just … Had no weight to it at all. no menacing atmosphere, barely stirred my heart besides an immense disappointment. it wasn’t even nighttime. sorry for being a donghua warrior. xiao zhan was perfectly cast but that’s about it. no one and nothing else rly stood out to me and i should have just dropped thisWas this review helpful to you?
Being honest
the story its good, the cast its ok too, but i am not into this type of drama. Good action wuxia drama. i rating the story 8, coz its a good drama story. But for cast n music 5, rewatch 1. That's why the score come up low 5. I am just being honest. The story its good, that's it . I don't understand if people don't like my score, if i don't like the music and rewatch again the drama, its my own opinion though. You can score what ever you want, so does mine. Some people like jazz some people don't, some like blues some don't some like rock some don't.. its different taste for everybody. I found out in the others drama, with a high drama rating overall, Still a lot in the reviews score is 4,5,5,5.5 etc, Its a freedom to express their opinion about the drama. Was this review helpful to you?

After a series of updates, I still feel that Chen Qingling deserves my current four-star evaluation. Originally for Wei Wuenvy of Xiao Zhan, the outside world has heard a lot of voices, but as a strong inclusive fans, it even feels that the current adaptation of many additional plays is logical and rich in the main thread. It's not easy to have the courage to shoot such a theme well. With this intention and perseverance——I want to say, "Chen Qingling" is really fragrant.
Thank you for letting me know Xiao Zhan this summer.

HONEST REVIEW
i saw many people's review some are 10 and some are 4in my opinion, its 10 like come on. When u first start to watch this drama plz be patient the acting in the first few episode are a bit off but it gets better. Xiao Zhan portrays wwx role very well and Yino portray's lwj's role well too. The eyes holds a lot of emotion in lwj's case so pay more attention to that.
The reason it got a 10 from mostly the novel reader is because they like the way the director put some clue's do that the readers could understand that they are together.
The headband tilt scene and that one scene where wwx is rlly tired and there is a incese burner before him. That scene really sparked joy among the novel readers.
Yes it has 50 ep but after it ends u will wish it had 100. Dont judge it so fast. I suggest reading the manhua after finishing the drama or reading it when u are in the middle. Thats what i did and i got excited even more.
WARNING: this contains heartbreak, incest , gore, manslaughter, cat killing(breifly mentioned), cut-sleeve and drinking vinegar. <33

why the hype?
I honestly don't understand the hype. Though the story is good, you find yourself following neverending dialogues that just feel drag the action. some of the acting is very poor (ie the brother and the bad guy - totally over acted) also, awhile there were some good visual effects, other felt very poor, like if I was watching a movie from the 80s. I think it would've had more impact with only 30 episodes, not 50! some characters really annoyed me like the sister. I think the best part was when Lan Zhan gets drunk. Was this review helpful to you?
A Soul-Stirring Masterpiece: A Love So Silent It Screams, So Deep It Defies Death.
If storytelling was a symphony, The Untamed would be a hauntingly beautiful crescendo—mesmerizing, emotional, and unforgettable. This Chinese fantasy drama, adapted from Mo Xiang Tong Xiu’s novel Mo Dao Zu Shi, is not just a piece of television—it’s an experience. Why it deserves 10/10:
Storytelling: Nonlinear, poetic, and gripping. The narrative shifts between past and present in a way that builds both suspense and emotional investment. Every arc is meaningful, and the payoffs are tremendous.
Characters: Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are two of the most compelling protagonists in recent drama history. Their relationship is subtle yet soul-stirring. Supporting characters like Jiang Cheng, Wen Ning, and Nie Huaisang are complex and well-developed, each with their own arcs that echo the central themes of loyalty, loss, and power. Their relationship defies every trope. It’s not loud or flashy — it’s deeply spiritual, profoundly emotional. A slow burn that simmers beneath every shared glance and unspoken word.
When Lan Wangji plays the guqin to calm Wei Ying’s rage. When Wei Ying teases him, trying to draw a smile. When they stand side by side, facing the world — even when the world turns its back.
Their bond is not just romantic, it’s soul-deep. It’s the kind of connection where one glance says everything. Where love means understanding, acceptance, and standing by each other no matter the cost.
Performance: Xiao Zhan (Wei Wuxian) and Wang Yibo (Lan Wangji) bring unbelievable depth and restraint to their roles. Their chemistry, often communicated in the smallest of gestures, makes the bond between their characters deeply moving—even within the restrictions of censorship.
Visuals and Music: From sweeping landscapes to intimate close-ups, the cinematography is stunning. The soundtrack, especially the flute motifs and theme songs like “Wu Ji,” enhances the atmosphere and the emotional weight of each scene.
Themes: Found family, the price of idealism, the weight of societal judgment, the healing power of love—The Untamed tackles these with nuance and grace. It's not just a fantasy—it’s a story about humanity in all its flawed beauty.
In the end, The Untamed is a masterclass in restraint, in subtle storytelling, and in how a deep emotional core can transcend language, culture, and even censorship. Whether you’re watching for the drama, the romance, or the heartbreak, you’ll find something that lingers long after the final episode.
Lan Zhan and Wei Ying are not just characters. They are a lesson in how love can exist in silence, endure in absence, and flourish against all odds. Their story is not about labels or convention — it’s about truth, loyalty, and belonging. They are, simply put, two halves of the same soul.
A solid 10/10. The Untamed doesn’t just tell a story. It leaves a mark on your soul.

WOW JUST WOW
LITERALLY THE BEST BL CENCORED DRAMA YOU COULD WATCH, I HOPE CHINA REMOVES IT BUT THIS IS MORE THAN ENOUGH. I DEFENITLY RECCOMEND YOU THIS, THEN YOU COULD WATCH WORD OF HONOR TOO. I mean like c'mon china doesn't have much bl related dramas and this one is the best you could find. if you have some good dramas like this plz recommend me some. currently waiting for immortality, eternal faith and winner's king, which are also adaptions from a bl novel. i feel like this is something with alot of interesting plots and all. you would go on a emotional roller coaster while watching this. if you want to you could also read the manga version which has some kiss scenes and also read the novel which has very mature scenes, and i mean like 18+ scenes. especially towards the end. but if you are like me and likes to read like those parts, then its the perfect book for you.Was this review helpful to you?
Watched this because of Lanwangji
This drama is bare able only because of Lan Wangji. The effect was so awful. Totally low budget drama. Skipped all scenes without Lan Zhan, to be honest. The first scene when he walked down the mountain was so memorable, angelic and ethereal. The soundtracks were good. Prefer the story of Heaven Official Blessings.
