Want something to cheer you up after a long day? Need a bit of a giggle? Some sing-songs and dancing? Look no further this movie is so fun from start to finish, following Suzuki who has a strong hatred towards musicals finds herself being in one every time she hears music after being hypnotized, the story is strangely unique! I couldn't help myself but smile every time she heard music and starts to dance, it contains different styles of dance which is interesting and fun to watch and it really switches up the mood which was really enjoyable to watch!
It also shows unlikely friendships that form, from singing and dancing, which is a really big part of the movie and shows Suzuki really finding herself.
I would definitely recommend this to someone who wants to something short and light-hearted this really ticks the box when you need something to cheer you up!

Entertaining road trip musical with somewhat peculiar humor

This was nowhere near as fun as it could have been. Sadly, the humor was my biggest issue with this movie. I just don't get why it's supposed to be funny when a chubby character's only personality traits are being obsessed with food, on top of always acting selfish. How am I supposed to feel for them when they behave like this for the sake of humor? And why are chubby characters often written like that? It's something we've seen in a lot of Hollywood movies as well, and I think this kind of humor is incredibly uninventive.

While I enjoyed the overall themes of accepting yourself for who you are, chasing your dreams and overcoming your fears, the characters were pretty flat. The friendships just didn't have that much of an impact on me, since some characters were not interesting enough and lacked depth.

What I did love about this were the musical parts. Well choreographed and combined with catchy music, they were a joy to watch. Ayaka Miyoshi as Shizuka Suzuki was absolutely delightful. Her performance was excellent and carried the movie for me. You could see her passion and energy. I really enjoyed the humor of the musical parts as well, and I wish they would have focused on that a bit more.

Although nothing special, the story was still entertaining. The strongest points being the wonderful musical performances and Ayaka Miyoshi as a fantastic lead.

It's incredible that no one has ever made this movie before!
A young woman, Suzuki Shizuka, is hypnotized and suddenly thinks and acts like she's the lead in a musical whenever she hears music. Miyoshi Ayaka is perfect, in the lead role. She has a serious presence on screen, but as soon as the music starts, she has a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face. The girl can hold a tune and dance with the best of 'em, too. As the tag-along sidekick, Saito Chie, Yuu Yashiro added the extra funny kick that was needed. What a perfect premise for some crazy action, fun situations, touching moments and a bit of Girl Power. Shinobu Yaguchi never disappoints. If you liked his other movies, like Waterboys, Swing Girls, and Wood Job!, you will love Dance With Me.

One of those feel-good movies

How shock I was that an Japanese musical actually exist and wasn’t disappointed at all. It was funny (with some dark humor in as well),exciting and made me wanted to dance. It’s a feel good movie. When it got to the last 17mins, I was like ‘How can they possibly pull this of with a good ending’, and we all know that a ending is what mostly makes or breaks a story of any kind. BUT the ending was perfectly suited with nothing short. My low rating on the rewatch isn’t because of the movie itself, I personally don’t rewatch ANY drama nor movies.

This drama like the summary told us, tell story about Suzuki Shizuka who work as office woman one day hypnotized & start to imagine herself in drama musical, so she dance & sing along. Even the slight music as ring tones or someone singing will make her sing & dance. The day after she's realize no cure for her 'sickness' she go find the man to make it stop, just to realize he disappeared already. So together with Saito Chie they begin their journey to find Ueda Martin.

Saito Chie herself is the employee of Martin that help him fools people. But with Martin, Saito find 'purpose' & pleasure. Saito at first looked like is one very cheerful, friendly & outgoing girl, she's easy to get along & make friends. But with the journey we find the hidden layer. She's insecure & vulnerable girl that try to hide it with her cheerfulness. But she's also in the end proof herself as a good friend for Shizuka.

This movie tell us how sometimes we must let our inner child out & just remembering our childhood dreams & bring the best of ourselves. Really funny to see the diff between the scene in Shizuka head when she dance with the actual scene after her dance. Haha...

One thing that's really confuse me is... What the true purpose of Murakami Ryosuke toward Suzuki Shizuka. He has hidden motive for approaching Shizuka, but unfortunately they never explored it more, so yeah we just never know...

Overall this really one good movie. Really happy to be able to watch this...

Funny and Meaningful

I've been stressing with work lately, so I decided to light up my mood by watching Dance with me. And it definitely doesn't disappoint :)

This movie was chosen to feature during the Japanese Film Festival in Vietnam and I can totally see why, it is light-hearted, funny and meaningful (plus great music and dancing). The ending especially made me want to quit my job and just have the freedom to do something I enjoy haha. That's why I relate so much to the main character, who was portrayed really well by Ayaka Miyoshi, who is also good at dancing and singing, whenever she performs, I just wanna get up and join her.

Overall it is a great movie that you should watch when you're feeling blue and want to release the tension!
