so far, the second season has comprised of five episodes that pick up with the "Gambling Idol" and the "Kaede Showdown" story arcs, both of which were even more exciting and over-the-top than the arcs in Season 1. all i can say is....Netflix best pick the second season up so that the rest of the English-speaking world can enjoy it as much as i have.

Kakegurui season 2
First season is just amazing, second was still very good - but in my opinion not as good as first - or maybe it was not the right time to watch this. Still love Yumeko and Ryota (my fav characters). If there will ever be third season I am sure that I will watch it. There is no much to say, plot is fun, something different and characters are easy to like in their weird way.Was this review helpful to you?
I recommend if you liked the anime's first season and have seen live-action season 1. It is the last two arcs of animes first season retold in a different visual medium.
Story
Starting off with the fact that I have watched the anime but not read the manga. This live-action adaptation continues to be the most accurate storyline I have seen when comparing it to its anime counterpart. Very little minor details are changed but the rest is exactly the same. If you liked the anime storyline then you will like this storyline.
The biggest difference between this and the anime is that they decided to add a new storyline that only gets teased in this season and will probably get picked up later on.
Characters/Acting/Cast
The overrating continues to shine and be great. It is clear that the directed wanted the overacting that all the actors give out in this performance. They are very good at their job and overact most scenes in great ways.
Hamabe Minami as Jabami Yumiko was great as in the first season. She really knows how to play an innocent girl that goes crazy. She seems to be more comfortable with the characters around her and is now being more of the gambling addict she is. Matsuda Ruka as Sumeragi Itsuki does a good job in acting and she is more prominent in this season than in the last. Morikawa Aoi as Saotome Mary takes a backseat to give the character of Sumeragi more time to shine
Takasugi Mahiro as Suzui Ryota continues to be the biggest deviation from his anime counterpart. While the anime had his character more grounded and as a point of relatedness to see ourselves in the situation, this version of Suzuki was just as wacky as the rest of the characters. It serves some great comedic scenes at times but I would have like a more grounded version.
Music
The OP was better in the first season but the ending songs were still great.

As a fan of the anime, I can say this was a good representation. It wasn't the same, but it still had basically the same plot line. The acting was the best out of anything: I thought it would be very cringy, but Hamabe Minami does a good job as Yumeko. She really gave that sweet but psycho girl vibe. Overall, the whole cast did a really good job at representing the Kakegurui characters. The show never got boring because of how short the episodes are, it never felt like nothing was happening: the pacing was good.
Oh, the intro song also slaps by the way.

The main story was pretty much the same, however, this time, the drama focused more on the leading lady rather than the male lead. He actually was more of a side character than anything. Not that she is not entertaining. She is an interesting character, but there was not much of a character development there.
So, overall, the performances were nice, even though the drama was way too manga style, with the over the top reactions and so on. The drama also concluded with an open ending, so the story will conclude with a movie.

As most of the manga based drama, this serie rely on how much you can merge into the drama. If you allow it to take all your thinking, the feeling of constant tension, brought by the episode or two episodes long gamble, and by the hope that the main character can rise in the academy, could make it enjoyable from the beginning to the end.
But, the tension in this season is faked by non-gamble related resolutions of gambles. And the evolution of the main character is linear and too predictable.
Story:
This part of the Kakegurui story is pretty useless. The first season introduced the Kakegurui world and introduced the objective and the main character. But this season only prepares the movie. One season followed by a movie would have been more suitable.
Direction: The biggest flaw of this season is the soliloquy-like moments, in the middle of the gambles, that should help to understand the point of view of the character and increase the pressure, when release it. Because, we don't care of the gamble, we already know that the resolution won't be related to the precedent events.
Acting: Their is almost no acting related issues, because actors only have to travel from a hyper stereotyped face and voice to an other. And they do it pretty well.
Conclusion: This season is not worth your time. Skip it and directly go to the movie.
