I started watching this series because my kids wanted to watch something sports related but then we couldn't stop watching at all. Every thing about it was perfect. My 9 year old son even started cheering for the teams as if it were real. It was fun to watch and quite inspiring for the kids. Personally I loved the drama and all the actors did a great job. Would want a season 2 as well.
Re-watch value...well have already watched it twice. This is the first time that I am actually writing a feedback for any drama. Don't miss it.

One of the best drama I’ve watched - no joke!

I really enjoyed watching this drama, i even watched with my family and they enjoyed it too. I usually skip many parts while watching a drama, but this drama is so good that i can actually stay throughout to watch every episode from beginning to the end, all actors did such a fantastic job in acting, they could play tennis so well and look so professional.

I really hope that Hunan TV will continue the season 2 and all casts will return. I even saw people who love this drama created a petition to request for 2nd season of the Prince of tennis, you can tell many really like this drama and anticipate for their return πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Worth Watching

I have always been a fan of PoT and finally took the chance to watch this. It is amazing! Even though the names are different, you can tell who is who just by their appearance.
The show is exactly the same as the original storyline!
One thing I didn't really like is the mini romance part of the show... I'm here to watch how these boys grow stronger each time but was stopped to see some in-direct romance. Though it wasn't too bad.
The best thing about this show is you see how these boys grow not only stronger in tennis but also their bond with each other. Their never giving up attitude is amazing and really makes you wanna move forward in life too!!
I also really love the acting of the cast and really hope to see a sequel from the same cast in near future;;;

It's an amazing series!

I'm not one to watch anything about sports since I suck at it but I decided to give this one a chance because of the trailer. From what I remember, I finished this in 5 days which is totally unlike me cause I would take 2-3 on a Kdrama.

This series was really funny and enjoyable, there wasn't a lot of romance which was actually fine for once. You can also learn a lot from the sport itself and that was why I enjoyed it a lot. I also loved how it didn't only focus on Lu Xia but also the whole team and their back stories and how they also have their own hardships outside of tennis. Their competitions were very exciting and worrying which made it better. I also like how it showed equal screentime to all of the team members.

To be honest, when they found the "secret to winning" thingy, I actually shedded tears because it shows how determined and hardworking each of them were and the chemistry between them were so beautiful and pure, especially Dayong and Jiale(ngl I kinda shipped them lmao).

Overall, this was perfect and even if there were flaws(which I don't even notice), all of the actors did amazing and the intro intself is so catchy lol

Anyhow, it isn't disappointing at all and it showed how even the weakest can become the strongest with just a little bit of hope ^^

Translations

I do agree other reviews about the female lead or how you don't see much of the matches as we would like. If we speak about the flash-back as like the recap of each episode; mind that I watch on Netflix so you have accessed to all the episodes. When it aired, I think, the first time, they choose to present a recap. But I'm not sure if other reviews were specifying these "flashbacks".
Props to the subtitles workers because translating mandarin language to English, Spanish or French is a big challenge especially if you want to prioritize a storyline that make sense. Which they did and I totally appreciated. Since there's words who comes back you can eventually figure out a bit more what it means.
It is definitely an adaptation/inspired of the Anime and the manga PoT. The TV show on the different characters and not solely on the MC. I feel they explore feelings and how much dedication the characters want to give to a club/your team with your family dynamic or the personal development.
I enjoy the background sound and the music too.
For the sequel no news from the production at the time of this review

Wow! This "Prince of Tennis" drama series is the "best drama which I've watched in terms of sports, friendship, youthful innocence, high school crushes, and other relationships in everyday's life. This drama can relate to each one of us, in another way.
= I played tennis and my love and interest in this drama series make me subscribe to Netflix so, I can watch its 40 episodes!
= Peng Yu Chang as Lu Xia and Ireine Song as Qi Ying brought justice to their roles, with deeper passions and emotions.
= Its storyline is about friendship + sport's teamwork and their journey in completing their dreams and aspirations in their lives.
= The main and secondary casts each face a variety of difficulties that they work together to overcome and triumph on it.
= This is a beautiful drama on the love and passion for tennis games and how the casts struggled to be trained and to focus on each sporting competition. That there is always a lesson to learn here: "Nothing is Impossible for those who Persists!"
= I highly recommend this "Prince of Tennis" to be watch and re-watch, especially for those with a deeper love for tennis games
= And hopefully - we look forward to its Season 2 and to continue watching the development of the same casts who were fitted to act for their roles with a perfect re-creation of correct emotions.
= We all truly enjoy this highly addictive drama series of "Prince of Tennis"

Fell in love with lu xia

From watching episode 1 for fun to being addicted to episode 40 within 3 days. I personally have never played and watched the game of tennis. But this drama made me fall in love when watching it.

Played by a group of young people who have beautiful faces and have their own character and charisma. In fact, not only the main players have beautiful faces, many supporting players also have beautiful faces. It's not only because of the beautiful players that make us have to watch this drama.

Reasons for watching this drama:

Tells about a group of young people who are fighting to win a national championship competition. Exciting and tense competition in every match. The struggle to the death, those who keep fighting even though they are injured. Friends who become teammates who fight and run together to fight every rivals they meet on the field. The relationship between father and son looks not close but loves each other. The process of growing a child looking for identity.

best adaptation for Japanese Manga Prince of Tennis

I have watched the Japanese Manga Prince of Tennis before way back 2007.
I love the story and characters then. I love Tezuka Kunimitsu and Fuji Syusuke.

And here it is! The Chinese adaptation of Prince of Tennis.
It's the best! Just like in the Japanese Manga, I love the characters of the captain Mu Si Yang, Zhou Zhi (my favorite), Qiao Chen and Tang Jia Le.
I always waiting for Si Yang to smile but seen it only on the last episode. And I love it seeing him smile for his team.
I adore their (Mu Si Yang and Zhou Zhi's friendship),
For me, Si Yang and Zhou Zhi are the best tennis player. I'm waiting for their match, for them to play together. Love seeing them together.

Right now, I'm watching it again!

Hoping that there will be a season 2 and 3 for this drama.
I love seeing these actors again playing tennis.

As a long time fan of this series (I watched them back in 2001 when it first aired), I'm actually not looking forward to this drama. Lu Xia (Echizen Ryoma) is my prince since I was 12. In my imagination, he's my perfect prince. So watching this drama make me feel a mix of emotions actually since I don't want to see a "failure" version of him (which China did once already)

But I'm pleasantly surprised by how well written the drama actually is. It follows closely to the manga version more, so it gives me more reason to love it. And I also love the actors. They look just like the characters in the original series I could even recognize their rivals easily. That's quite amazing. And the Yu Qing (Seigaku) boys exactly look like their original counterparts. Except for Qiao Chen, who plays Momo, since I think that he is too handsome to be Momo lol

1. Story (8.5 points)
While I like the story, since it follows anime more than the manga, I saw some fillers in the drama as well. It's not unwatchable, but for those who don't like PoT would think that it's totally silly and unnecessary. I'm actually worried about how the tennis would look like, as PoT is not what you call "normal" tennis, it's more like "fantasy" tennis with all those super weird techniques. But it looks fine enough to me. The CGI is smooth and it's integrated well in the drama, making the techniques believable (somehow). I also love that they include Yan-juice (Inui-juice/Penal-tea) in this drama, which is also a pleasant surprise

2. Acting (9.0 points)
Very on-point. I love that Lu Xia is just... Lu Xia. The actor got the character on point and he plays the calm and arrogant character card very well. The other characters also seem to know the original characters very well, because they act just like the original characters. What surprised me is the one who plays Zhou Zi (Fuji), because that character is very hard to portray, but the actor actually played it very well. I'm impressed

3. Music (10 points)
I love the music. The opening and ending are suitable for the drama

4. Rewatch value (7.5 points)
Because you know who's going to win, so I don't think rewatch is necessary. For people like me who is a die hard fan of this story, I would definitely rewatch them. For casual drama watchers, rewatch would be hard with 40 episodes. I'm someone who watch 178 episodes (and more) of the anime like thousand times, so 40 episodes is nothing to me

Overall, my score is 8.0 points for this drama. The production value is surprisingly also quite good. It's not high budget, but I could see the care the production team put into the drama. If they ever release second season, then I would definitely watch them as well

Where to watch: Netflix

As an avid fan of both the anime and the manga, when this drama first came out I was highly skeptical because of the past adaptations, which weren't up to par in my opinion. But this drama completely surprised me with how closely it followed the manga. Plus all of the elements that make Prince of Tennis, Prince of Tennis were there. Thank you CGI effects. Though for this particular drama they focus more on the individual members, the team in general, and romance than they do with the matches.

CAST: The director did so well with the casting, props to them for finding actors/actresses that have similar features to the original characters. Whenever they would introduce a character I would get excited! I would also get excited when the characters did their move! They made some changes to some of the characters but then that just made it unique, in my opinion.

Overall, it was a very satisfying drama and adaptation of Prince of Tennis. One of the better ones in my opinion! Even if you haven't read the manga or seen the anime version of Prince of Tennis, this is still a feel good and inspirational drama to watch. It talks about teamwork, friendship, and passion for what they love.

I am a fan of Prince of Tennis ever since. I love how the characters (particularly the players, coaches and extras) deliver their role well. This series add something new compare to the past PoT series and movies. Tough I like how the characters was chosen (except for the Qing Yi? I don't know if I am right). This series should not cut the playing scene because it is where the main cast (the main roles actually should be the players not the flirty girl) showcases their talents and skills in playing tennis. I do hope the second season they will focus on how each individual players improved and hone their skills to be better and less focus on the girl because all she have to do is to pout whenever she didn't get the attention (of Lu Xia) and flirt with Lu Xia. I almost stop watching the series because she's too annoying. Lol.
