Definitely enjoyed it way better than I imagined. I was skeptical when I saw Netflix going for it but I decided to give it a try. It follows the manga more closely than other live actions. I wasn't disappointed. The cast were good too... really loved Peng Yu Chang as Lu Xia! My other favorite characters were Qiao Chen, Jia Le, Zhuo Zhi, and the dad. The "female" lead's character is still annoying to me. I mean it's expected but I still got annoyed. The matches were fun to watch I was actually nervous with the team every time they were nervous. I wished they were longer though. They could have gotten rid of those flashbacks and 'inspirational' moments for more match scenes.

Hopefully Netflix has season 2 that would be dope.
Would definitely rewatch it! 10/10 for me considering I binge-watched 40 episodes in 2 days!!!

I am a fan of PoT and for me this is an okay drama to watch. If you like the humor and friendship side, this is a good one. But if you like to watch matches, not so great. The bad side of this drama is that most matches are cut shorter and some fillers are draged longer. Matches are based on the manga. Some fillers are created, may be based on the anime. It is quite frustrating if you watch this at the same time as it was aired( I’m Vietnamese so I got to watch it with Vietnamese sub a day later). But as a rewatch, I don’t think it’s that bad. If anyone like shipping, there are hints in this drama, all of them are cute. I’m glad that they kept all the techniques. The actors/ actresses are good, they portray their characters quite well. It’s nice to have a series that is related to PoT.

I am in love with this series that I just have to write a review. Prince of Tennis was the only Anime I have fangirled so much from when I was young out of the beautiful animes to the point that I had posters on my wall and was saving up to go to Japan and buy all POT-related merch. When I saw this from Netflix I was surprised as I have no idea they remade it into a live action version, at this year. As any fan I started on it with thoughts of comparison from the anime I have watch, unavoidable but with this series, it is unnecessary.
This series is praiseworthy and I really hope Prince Of Tennis fans like me could watch it too.
The relationship between each characters were very much appreciated and really closely followed from the anime I have watched but seeing it played live in action hooked me so bad I finished the whole 40 episodes in 3 days in between my duty. The acting was superb and the actors were very handsome and cute. The humor was so effective for me I had to tone down my laughter for my roommates. The OST was also beautiful. And the games with all those effects were well done, really. This whole series made me feel again, reminiscing my fangirl moments. This is the first time I am really grateful I have netflix.

please watch it, its really really really worth your time. the matches are really good and makes you feel nervous and proud at the same time. its literally the best cdrama of the year. the plot was good, just like the anime. i dont really like sports dramas but this made me woosh bc its so good. please support this drama and love it with all your heart. tyy!!!

I’ve just finished watching the full 40 episodes and I have to say this is such a good series and I am already pumped for season 2! I feel like this has a good chance of being renewed.

I’ve watched a few sports series in the past and this is definitely one of my tops! I won’t have any spoilers but this is a show that not only makes you fall in love with each character but also makes you care about their opponents as well. It keeps you on the edge of you’re seat at times as well.

This series was a rollercoaster of emotions! The story lines had me relating to character and understanding them better. The matches had me anxious and concerned at times as if I was in the crowd. The camaraderie and teamwork left me with a warm feeling in my stomach.

I definitely recommend this series!!!!

Very entertaining and enjoyable show

I loved the anime of The Prince of Tennis so when I saw this on my Netflix feed I was all in. This was so entertaining and I loved everything about the story, the characters and the tennis!! The casting choices were perfect. What I love most about the show is the male friendships and the camaraderie of it. I also loved that even though the teams were rivals there were really all respectful of each other.

What I dislike about the show is all the flashback scenes in almost every episode to the extent that t was just too much filler.

Episodes 33, and #37-40 were my favorites; 33 is Siyang's match with Ji Jingwu and I was here for it!!! so exciting. Also, Ji Jingwu being all concerned was so adorable. I was here for the bromance as well and would watch a show with just those two!! Loved Zhou Zhi's match and of course Lu Xia's final match.

Of all the episodes Episode 37 is one of the reasons I truly love this show. The scene when most of the tennis teams go to the all you can eat barbecue is spectacular and one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time. It was so funny and all the people who didn't want to sit next to each other had me in stitches!

This show was so good and repeat watches are in order!!

First of all I truly enjoyed this show a lot. Truly exceeded my expectations. The show is simply a really good slice of life drama. Its not just about tennis. Its a coming of age show filled with stories about friendship, family and self discovery.

I love the cast! Each character in the team had strengths and weaknesses and we see them overcome their hardships in their own way. I could not ask for a better cast. The actors portrayed their roles really well and I genuinely laughed so many times because the chemistry between the cast and the writing was so funny. They really took time to developed many players in the show and it truly made me feel like I was part of the family.

The production of the show was pretty good. The cinematography and how they portrayed tennis during the matches was really fun to watch. There were times( during the tennis match) were it was completely over the top but it just came off as a funny scene as to how bad it was. Outside the tennis scenes, the production was peaceful and it sort of made me miss the hot summer days at school.

Heartfelt and emotional, definitely a binge-worthy drama.

Pros:
[+] A strong theme of friendship and overcoming challenges. This created some of the most emotional and hilarious scenes throughout the whole drama.
[+] In terms of tennis matches, what made them especially fun to watch was the anticipation of waiting for each player's special move to be revealed.
[+] The character development was spread equally, which doesn't happen often when there's such a huge supporting cast. Each team member, and even players from other teams had their own chance to grow and develop.

Cons:
[-] Some minor loose ends could have been tied up better, specifically relating to how Xinglong and Dayong dealt with their main challenge in the series.

Memorable characters: all of the main players in Yu Qing, Huang Jing, Zhuo Yu, Ji Jingwu, Yuan Chi, Bai Shiting

It is quite fun to watch this drama, but I still feel that mydramalist’s rating 8.7 is too overrated. I haven’t read the manga nor watched the anime, so I am gonna judge this one only as a drama.Here are my opinions;

1.Solid acting from the casts
Though the casts seem rather new faces to me, their actings are quite solid. The male lead looks quite young in the drama( but actually not very young), his acting is impressive.
Iriene Song(though I don’t like her in Ever Night) looks more cute in a modern drama, she has a baby face and her acting has much more improved.

2.Friendship
This drama doesn’t have much romance, I don’t think it needs romance as well. But their teamwork, solid friendship, affections, unity all made up for that lack of romance.

3.Watchable but Draggy plot
The plot needs to be a little shortened. Though we can all predict who will win and who will lose, I still enjoy the matches. But the plot is too draggy while showing the preparation period (I understand that animes are like that). I don’t also like the unnecessary conversations between Da Chi and Jiale (bromance but looks like they are flirting )
There are unnecessary fillers as well, so I skipped some of those scenes.

4. Overall
As I mentioned above, it is fun to watch though. It doesn’t have a dramatic plot but I still enjoyed watching it.
If you don’t have any other interesting drama or tired from those breakup, dramatic plots, it is quite an option to choose.

7.5 is the best rating I can give, 8.7 is too overrated for this one.

I saw this on Netflix and I was not so sure to watch this drama as I'm not a fan of sports fiction. But as I watched first few episodes, I got hooked into this series. The cast is excellent in this drama. The reason I was hooked was because of the cast.
I had a crush on Siyang in this series ?. He was the best captain and a motivational figure for his team. I found Zhou Zhi like a mysterious person but I loved his acting and of course his looks. I loved how Qioa Chen and Baiyang bickered over small things and entertained us. The golden partners (Jiale and Dayong) teared me up. Their fall and rise as golden partners was worth to watch. Xinglong also justified his role. Lu Xia is literally the cutest in this drama. But at times, Yan was adorable when he bought the Yan juice for team members. I almost teared up when Siyang was about to leave. Not only them, but the captains and players of other team also left a good impression.
This drama is motivating, funny and entertaining. I really loved this series
and I hope that there will be a part 2. I wanna see them winning the National Champion but I would love to see the same cast.

The first time I watch this series makes me believe that Lu Xia is a true talent which his character opposite to his true colour. he doesn’t smile a lot makes you believe how serious and determined with tennis. i’m very impressed with every characters that makes these series alive like a true athlete. convincing in every way and looking forward for season 2.i am very satisfied with the overall series and very recommended for people who knows tennis or other sports that contain true friendships and hardships believe. btw he really look like 10 grade student ? such a baby face

I didn't expect to like it quite so much!

I dived into this drama with a healthy dose of scepticism. I have to say, Netflix has done a good job with the trailer.
I started watching it with no expectations. However, I loved the story, the message and the overall production.

I know nothing about tennis. Despite the fact and despite the matches and shots being overly exaggerated, I couldn't help but be drawn in by the tension and fervour. For those like me who are not fans of silly VFX, comedy cues and (slightly) bad acting (by some), just remember that it's based on a manga. You'll forgive the exagerations and the shortcomings.

The die-hard fans of the original manga know the plot and characters well. While I haven't read the manga, I've watched a few episodes of the anime and the Japanese live-action film. I have to admit, I'm kind of in love with Mu Siyang (don't judge). This drama has stayed loyal to the source-material.

I loved the casting! I think I'm in love with Xie Binbin too! Peng Yu Chang has done a good job as Lu Xia. All the actors are really good.

My one complaint: I HATE the female classmates of Lu Xia. They're absolutely useless to the story, their characters are cringy and underwritten, and very degenerative. I absolutely hate Song Yiren's character. Her entire existence is to pick up balls, fetch Lu Xia drinks and just stare dreamily at him. Frankly, I'm insulted on her (Yiren's) behalf -- what an absolute waste of her talents as an actor.

I wish they would make a sequel and continue the story. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but do give it a try!
