Special effects, fantasy and fairytale

This is a fantasy story set in a place called Douluo Continent. Here each martial art expert has a personal ability called martial spirit which enables them to display special powers. The story is more in the genre of Harry Porter although the story and setting are entirely different. I think this drama would appeal to the young adults and children as it has a fairytale setting and is filled with special effects and actions.

The backdrop is that of an academy struggling to survive financially while it takes in some of the most outstanding martial students and trains them to become masters. They are invited to a competition hosted by the continent's most powerful martial spirit academy. Conspiracies loom and hidden secrets are brought to light.

Like a lot of dramas, there is a mystery leading you on. It is quite clear from early in the drama that there are hidden secrets that the lead characters set out to investigate, so there is not much twists in the story.

Xiao Zhan is the main lead and his fans are likely thrilled. His acting is superb but I think it is still short of his performance in the Untamed which is a tough record to beat.

If you are into action oriented fantasy and fairytale, this is an excellent drama to spend your spare time on.

Excellent CGI

It's a really intriguing story, it draws you in as you keep watching. It's fast paced also(or normal, no unnecessary fillers, so it makes you want to watch each episode to discover what happens).
I watched without subs(didn't understand anything btw, but wanted to keep going), because I wanted to follow the story. Will watch with subs later when they're all available ?.
oh my God and also each cast is perfect for his/her role.
The chemistry between the 7 students and masters is ?.
...and the CGI, no comparisons. ...so good.
cinematography excellent.

Brilliant, fantastic and family-friendly drama

I watched this drama first time as I’ve always admired the leading role Sean Xiao’s acting ability in other dramas. To be honest, my expectations were not very high as I know it is not easy to bring the fantasy world in the novel to this drama, which will definitely be restricted by a lot of limitations.

However after watching the drama it did make me a Douluo continent fan. Many kudos to Sean Xiao, he gave a vivid account of Tang San’s grow, change and progress of becoming a great soul master. Also thanks the rest of the roles and crew in this drama for their great work. The cast is outstanding, the special effects are amazing, I enjoyed each episode immensely and seems exploring a wonderful and fantastic Douluo world with Tang San and his friends.

It is good for children of all ages. It tells not only about diligence, determination, bravery and good versus evil, but also family, friendship and sincerity. Really love it.

Must Watch Series

First of all, kudos for Xiao Zhan and the DC team. XZ nailed the role Tang San perfectly. I really love the way he protects his loved ones . I admire his integrity in principle although sometimes it's way too much, still the reason why i like his character the most . The other casts shined on their own way. I love Xiao Wu's innocence and her impulsiveness is way too cute. I felt the strong chemistry and tension between Dai My Bai and Zhu Zhu Qing. I love how their relationship mature throughout the series and how their little actions affect one other ?, same as the cute tandem of Ning Rong Rong and Ou Si Ke. I like how Liu Runnan portrayed his character that it makes me laugh about his craziness and funny jokes at the same time feeling a bit blue on his childhood experience. Oww, I pity Ma Hong Jun being the third wheel just like his master ? sorry Hong Jun.. but the thing I liked the most on his character is the way he treats Tang San, like seeing him as his older brother sometimes father. He is so innocent and cute when talking about money and business with Lander, they are indeed the same! Lastly the character that also got my attention is Tang San's master, whohooo! At first, I thought he have a serious character but as the story grows, I find him so funny specially those awkward moments with-??? Hoping for season 2 (but please with the same casts) because there are many questions left unanswered. Even though I don't watch the anime version, I still enjoyed the story very much ?. Recommend this one!

Not what I was expecting,

When I first heard that Douluo Continent is releasing, I was extremely excited since its a drama with Betty Wu, and Sean Xiao. But after the first 5 episodes or so, I slowly started watching it in 1.75x speed, and then I just loss interest. But eventually I did go back to this drama and finished the 40 episodes. To be honest, the best episode was probably episode 1, or 40. Yes. 1 . or 40. The main thing that kept me going was the acting. Practically the acting / casts carried this drama. This is not the best work of Xiao Zhan, but neither is it his worst. The music was on the lines of "ok - decent". But sadly this will be a one time drama for me, .

The Casts

I love the way Tang Sang and Wu relationship because the way Tang Sang and Wu love each and the seven devil school, sorry I forgot what the team name again, They work together as a team and they never give up and they always help each other and the master and the headmaster are so cool too. They are so funny and I like the way they help their student too. All the cast in this drama are all amazing the sad part it's Tang Sang mother I was so tears that time, Tang Sang don't want anything the only thing that he wants is his mother...He want his mother and father be with him.

Thank you

This are only thing that I know

enjoy

I'm trying to rate the series for the people who dont know the series so as to not be rude.

First I will state that the reason some of my ratings are lower then 10 comes from 1 core factor a large amount of rewrites from the original content it is based off of which served no purpose in the original content the main character can be largely viewed as extremely wise and over powerful his teacher despite being unable to get more then 2 rings for most of his life until the main character helps him was still highly honored by everyone for his wisdom and the main character's father known far and wide as the youngest and strongest Titled Douluo feared by all other Titled Douluo even MANY years after he went after hiding to raise his son but in the this series they make the main character weak ignorant constantly losing and needing help on the simplest of things and doubts his own father of being a good person and no one puts there foot down and says that he is for the longest time even treating him as if hes just a simple nobody the main characters teacher got it bad also when first shown i was like ok not bad then instantly he was just a janitor and the main character never showed him his hammer funny enough it comes up without anyone reacting to it as if the writers cut something it bugs me. As for the cast being lower never could get used to Ma Hongjun in the original series ma hongiun is fat fat to the point he is called fatty 99.99% of the time and they cast a skinny guy and he isn't timid due to not being able to control his ability's he's a horndog basically he's trying to get a girlfriend he has a time when he loses weight but is isn't for along while.

All this being said as a normal drama and even as doulou continent it isn't exactly bad I couldn't stop saying the main character was a poo tang san but even with that it is still better then not having the series I hope they do better on the second season as the season got closer and closer to the end it got closer to being similar to the original content in many ways

Love it ❤️

This is the best male fantasy TV series I have ever watched. It has the most passionate youth story, the most touching friendship and love, and great animation production. Suitable for people of all ages. And there are a lot of funny plots and dialogues. The whole story revolves around how Tang San traced his family history and how to become a soul master. As he was growing up, he met his best friends and his lover, than they formed a fighting team. In the process of constant challenge and being challenged, they finally won the final victory. At the same time, each of them found their own way in their life.

Cringe. I’m embarrassed for Xiao Zhan

Whoever wrote the script is an amateur and should forever be banned from writing another one. Watching this was like watching paint dry. The characters were so corny, yes, even the main hero seemed like every other “blessed child” who suddenly acquire powers with which only them can fight the evil of the land. ??

Plot aside, the wardrobe, props, and cinematography were equally amateurish. I mean everything was just so poorly done. The women wore one outfit for most of the episodes. The camera angles were limited to one or at most two cameras. The situational props were abysmal. Mostly, the drama felt and looked like a low budget production that spent most of their money on a big name actor and then scrimped on everything else.

Love it!!!

This has a unique way of presenting the little things. The sceneries are so perfect! I love the CGI throughout the drama. All cast members put their best and it helps to flow the storyline throughout the series.

The two main lead's acting is undoubtfully superb. Though I haven't seen the Anime version I love the way they have adapted into the teledrama. Especially emotions and facial expressions are too sharp and done well. And this is a family teledrama where we use to watch together. My kids are eagerly waiting for the next episode.

They really like the flight scenes and CGI. Once you started to follow this it's hard to get out of it. You will stick it forever!!

My favorite scene throughout this drama is XZ crying scene in Infront of his Mom. His acting skills are versatile. I used to rewatch it many times. Overall music is good and the opening song is encouraging and charm.

It's really good

Overall I really loved this show. However, the ending felt so incomplete. There were so many secrets involving Tang San's mother but in the end it was just that she was a soul beast that turned into a human over time. The show should have been longer and prolonged how he became the strongest and the story of him and Xiao Wu. It needs more. The story is amazing. It has a lot of things that a lot of shows don't. The story is great and the actors did an amazing job. It's can get pretty comedic at times.

lovely stand alone story-- a good introduction to the Douluo Universe

I came into this drama without any understanding of the source material or its other adaptations. In many ways, I think the drama is designed for this specific audience. It really takes its time with worldbuilding, and allows the viewer to learn the different aspects of this universe along with Tang San.

Things I really loved:

The pacing was lovely. I felt like I had enough time to understand everything clearly before moving forward with the story, and the screenwriter really takes his time introducing everything to the viewers. It's one of the only dramas I've watched all the way through (without skipping scenes); the plot points were introduced at the right time and the story kept me engaged.

The cinematography is gorgeous, especially in the first few episodes.

I heard the CGI budget was raised for this drama, and it really made a difference. It's so smooth and pleasing to watch; overall, the CGI is quite impressive compared to similar Chinese dramas.

I thought the cast all fit their roles really well. The dynamic between the 7 Devils and the Golden Triangle were especially amazing; I found myself laughing along with them a lot! I was really impressed by Calvin Chen especially; Xiao Gang is my favorite character. :) His relationship with Tang San and the headmaster were my favorites throughout the drama.

Things I didn't like as much:

I thought the fights weren't choreographed all that well for a martial arts drama. A lot of fights were segmented into solo shots, whereas I would have liked more interaction with the other team members. There are also a lot of "glamour shots" of them heading out to battle, which I feel could have been shorter.

Objectively, I think Tang San is less compelling than other main characters. I definitely like him as a protagonist-- I like his moral values, and the questions about his past keep me interested in the story. However, sometimes I feel as if he's a victim of circumstance; he doesn't seem to have a powerful drive in him. And as Xiao Zhan himself has said, I feel like Tang San is almost too perfect. I feel that a flaw could make him a more compelling character to root for.

Personally, I also think Tang San and Xiao Wu's relationship is overshadowed by some other characters in the novel. For example, sometimes I felt a little disconnect when Tang San wanted to protect Xiao Wu at all costs, especially shortly after they've just met--I think it may be due to the fact that I feel like their relationship developed too fast (due to limited screen time), but also the disparity between Xiao Zhan and Xuanyi's acting experience. However, this point didn't detract from my enjoyment of the drama.

I found the music choice to be strange sometimes. I think an electric guitar sound popped up at one point and I was confused (because do electric guitars even exist in that world?). But it's an artistic and innovative choice by the sound director, and I respect the decision.

Overall, I felt that Douluo Continent is a drama aimed at a younger audience (teens and young adults). It's a light-hearted and easily palatable coming-of-age show. Even if it's not heavily emotional, it does not, by any means, lack emotional depth or touching moments. I'd definitely recommend that you check it out. :)
