I did not get hooked on it initially as the first episode drag on a bit with the introductions. But it slowly grew onto me and just love the landscape, the paintings, the calligraphy and the tai chi moves. It brought back my passion to buy some paint brushes to practice my calligraphy.

I actually like Piao Piao acting a lot more that others, her tai chi skills were brillant. She came across as a strong female lead and although she pairs nicely with Wei Chu, I do not see a lot of passion coming across. BTW it is very G rated drama. So do not expect many kiss scenes here.

I am move fascinated with the art works and tai chi moves, and the story behind these than the usual romance drama. This drama has some quality to it and the scenes and locations they build and used are all very nice.

The story tells about how an outcast girl of the tai chi community made a come back helped by her master/boyfriend. They faced many challenges from the tai chi community, school, friendship and battles.
Very basic story line but worth the watch.

So I randomly selected sweet tai chi to watch because it was tagged as an idol drama which are fun and not too heavy. The main problem was that until recently the eng subtitles were not available for it except the first episode. But I watched it anyway to like get a sense of it (coz I have dropped quite a few dramas after just watching the 1st episode) and I was immediately hooked. (resulting in me watching the whole drama without subs
This dramas has got some very strong points to make you like it.
First and foremost the places selected for the filming are amazing. The locations were very well selected including the campus resulting in beautiful shots.
Second major point is the female lead. I have never seen her before in any drama but she is effortlessly adorable. I have seen many actors try to portray a cute character and fail miserably while the FL's acting feels like she is just being herself. Her antics are fun to watch. She is badass in a good way and unlike other dramas the leads meet with the FL saving the ML from a gang.
Third is the Ost. The songs are beautiful and perfectly suited to the scenes and even though I don't know the language after watching a couple of episode I simply started humming along.
Lastly I agree that the story takes off slowly at first but the selling point atleast for me were the action scenes. All the scenes with Tai chi were perfectly shot and edited. Best scenes of this drama is just Piao Piao fighting all different kinds of people. The romance is also a big part of it but it's very PG-13 enough to give you closure but not to make you internally scream. I just wish that the ML's character was better developed. Like I understand that he was supposed to portray a very cool, calm, perfect at everything and emotionally detached from most things kinda person but after all his interactions with the FL I kinda wanted him to show some more emotions and be less stony and I mean that literally. Apart from the ocassional smile or his signature annoyed look it's like looking at a pretty stone wall.
All in all this drama is good enough for binge watching. (especially now since everyone's quarantined due to covid-19).

Amazing, Interesting drama!!!!???

I got to know about this drama through mv of this drama...what made interested to watch this drama or even check it out was the taiji aka tai chi or martial arts scenes in this that is very well depicted it here....Even though i dont know about taiji but i got to know more about not only taiji but chinese culture....they are some loopholes but its not harming the plot!! Its understandable....This will be probably my First drama where i havent seen intimate scene between the leads...its only holding hands and hugging but that also is sooo freaking cute.....
The female lead i have seen her meteor garden so i gave it a try...at first it was little bit confusing but after 2 eps you started to get addicted to watch the entire drama...even though i was hooked from the very first eps and i absolutely adore the male lead...damn he can sing, act and look so freaking handsome....
What makes it addicted also is that its 24 eps drama which makes you complete it asap !!
If you are not a fan of watching almost all eps of taiji or kungfu then i dont know what to say to that your choice
But if you interested to get know more it then do watch its worth of watching !!!
I loved it!!
Sorry for the long review!!!??

This drama is really really nice, some take aways from the drama. But I gave it an 8.5 rating because I felt that the ending was rushed. They could have added more details instead of just ending it with them winning. I mean it's ok but I want more. I thought there would be a scene where they get married.. I hope there'll be a season 2 because they just left us hanging. I also hoped that they would have more romance in the show. But overall it's a good show, I would really recommend watching this show. The number of episodes is just nice, could have extended the ending though.

I really liked the visuals that this idol drama brings. From the actors' faces to the set design to the color grade, the director has this drama's aesthetics down. When I was watching each episode, I screenshotted many times because the frames were simply too beautiful to pass by.

Story-wise, I was less impressed. The romance storyline was a little bit on the awkward side. I don't know if its because the leads are less experienced actors and therefore cannot deliver raw emotion well enough or if the writing for the love line was lacking. Nonetheless, I could not feel the chemistry between Wei Chu and Feng Piao Piao. Their "intimate" seems were stiff and low key uncomfortable to sit through. The tai chi/family feud storyline was fine. Classic predictable hero's journey archetype from Piao Piao. The episodes, though, were a little draggy and there were many, many, unnecessarily long montages of Piao Piao practicing tai chi. They were shot beautifully but did not really move the story along.

The acting was mediocre. It is obvious that the actors are rookies or idols but the acting wasn't glaringly bad. So although there weren't any shining moments, you wouldn't get distracted from the plot.

The OST was pretty good. I especially like Bi Wen Jun's voice in "Fisted Heart, Fisted Intention".

Overall, I couldn't give this drama a high rating because I have seen better idol dramas in terms of storyline and acting. But it is still a great watch if you have the time and patience. :)

This drama portrayed pure love at its finest. I especially love Wei chu’s character how he’s a ‘action is louder than words’. type of person. This is honestly the only drama which make me feel so satisfied with the ending. THEY LITERALLY GAVE US ALMOST AN EPISODE OF HAPPY ENDING HOW GENEROUS! <3 I also like how there’s no intimacy/kissing scenes because it kinda shows how much they respect each other and how love doesn’t have to be intimating to show that their bond is strong. The friendships and old generation reconciliation are just <3 I just love everything abt this drama and will definitely rewatch!!

Good Idea and General Plot but Poor Execution and Acting

Completed - 5/28/2022 - 7.75

I don't know anything about Tai Chi, so I can't really comment on the authenticity of the moves and fight choreography. I thought Tai Chi is basically healing and exercise for the mind and body. Little did I know that there's a whole martial arts side to it. Thanks to the crash course and the (too) fast introduction of the Tai Chi plot in the first few minutes, I realized Tai Chi is martial arts used in wars and battles before the use of weapons.

What I Like:

1. General Plot - This drama has elements of a wuxia drama set in the modern world. Instead of sects of the pugilistic world, we have different types and clans of martial arts. I enjoy the story of how the descendants of the four major Tai Chi clans try to attract new followers, break traditional and outdated customs and spread the art of Tai Chi to the younger generation. I also like the idea of a talented female lead who is so gifted that she gets to fight and protect others physically using her Tai Chi skills. It's always fun to see a group of youngsters band together to fight the bad guys and win in competitions. The academy that they are in, CMFU, is interesting and weird at the same thing. It's interesting because students can choose a major of their liking, wear fancy uniforms (if they want?) and compete/challenge against each other - reminds of Harry Potter and the Houses of Hogwarts. But it's also weird in a sense that I thought the different majors are only of traditional Chinese arts e.g. painting and Tai Chi. Then I realized it has all types of martial arts (Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, Wrestling). And then there's swimming as a major? What kind of weird Academy is this??

2. Costumes, Sets and Cinematography of CMFU - Even though the academy is weird, its setting is beautiful. The school is surrounded by beautiful sceneries - valleys, grass fields, rivers and mountains. Many training scenes take place out in nature or overlooking the water. The villas, houses and classrooms have a very traditional touch and design. The battle stage is set over the river and near a bridge where spectators are located. In the final competition, competitors all hang out in their respective boats with flags of their clans - very wuxia-style. Though the characters don't wear often, I really like the all-white, traditional fight uniform during the final competition. Every so often, the female lead would wear something traditional when practicing. I also enjoy the school uniform - black, long coat, and wish the characters wear them more often.

3. Fight scenes - I don't know if the fight choreography is real Tai Chi or not, but I enjoy all the scenes. I like the side-by-side Tai Chi practice between the characters. There is a decent number of Tai Chi practice and fight moves, though I would have liked to see longer scenes. I am satisfied and it's a pleasant surprise as I initially thought this drama is more romance-heavy, and really wasn't expecting a more serious plot.

What I Don't Like:

1. Acting - I know many of the actors are young and new, but the acting is really not good. This is male lead, Bi Wen Jun's first drama and it really shows. I actually saw him previously in "Sweet Teeth" and I can definitely say his acting has improved slightly 2 years later, though still has a lot of room for improvement. I have previously seen our female lead, Sun Qian, in "Remembrance of Things Past" and similar to Bi Wen Jun, she has also improved in that other drama. Her acting here in "Sweet Tai Chi" is just as bad (maybe a little better) than Bi Wen Jun. For some reason, I found their acting more tolerable in the first half than the second half. The romance scenes are awkward and lacking chemistry. Well, they do look good together visually. The rest of the supporting cast isn't that great either. I guess I am most surprised (in a bad way) at the acting of the two Hong Kong veteran actors who played grandma & grandma. Why do they also seem so uneasy in this drama?

2. Characters - Separating the acting from the characters, I actually still don't like any of them. If I have to choose, Chen Bing is my favorite character. He is funny and adorable, yet is mature when we need him to hold back his annoying, blabber mouth girlfriend. Our female lead, Feng Piao Piao, could be a very controversial character. I find her both funny/cute and annoying/childish at the same time. I think for the most part, she is more annoying/childish, especially when compared to the quiet, cold and mature male lead, Wei Chu. Wei Chu isn't that interesting of a male lead either. He's the typical cold genius who is smart and good at EVERYTHING. He never tells others his plans because he's the smartest of all and can fix everything.

3. Romance - The main romance is awkward and I think this is due to both the acting and the writing. There should be many shy, cute, fluffy moments, but I can't feel the chemistry at all. Even when they are officially a couple, they still act like shy teenagers uttering their lines without any display of affection. On the other hand, the secondary romance started out really clingy, stalker-ish and annoying. But at least once they are a couple, they act like normal couple. However, I don't understand why the 2ML all of a sudden is so in love with 2FL when for the most part he never shows interest in her.

Other Random Observations:
1. For someone who practices Tai Chi for years, our FL loses her balance often and keeps on falling on the ML.
2. Not sure if I would trust someone inexperienced and has no medical knowledge to be in charge of making medicine and treating a seriously hurt patient by learning from a book (even if she's getting advice over the phone from a doctor).
3. It's quite easy to guess who the masked lady in black is.
4. Men in this drama like to declare their love by announcing to the world that she is his girlfriend/fiancee without first informing the girl of his feelings.
5. I want to beat FL before her competition when she's acting childish and clingy.
6. Why are the mean girls being chased by the bad guys? What's the point of that scene?
7. Why are the mean girls on stage after the competition? When did they all of a sudden become great friends? Because they're saved by the main cast?
8. They just got engaged, why are they worrying about losing each other and being apart?

Short, sweet and exciting. The series is one that focuses tai chi and those who are descendants of the clans along with their rivals.
The series starts out somewhat upbeat and seems to maintain its consistency throughout. It revolves around the martial arts community. Are two main leads are a female who has been taught a martial arts outside of a particular client in the male lead who appears to be a descendent of the clan. Without revealing too much about series The series starts out somewhat upbeat and seems to maintain its consistency throughout. It revolves around the martial arts community. Our two main leads are a female who has been taught a martial arts outside of a particular clan in the male lead who appears to be a descendent of the clan. Without revealing too much about the series I wouldI will say that a form of a relationship develops and they both begin to grow.
The fights in this series are amazing. One scene I watched at least 4 times. The community dynamic is so so. There are some bonds, betrayal, secrets and twist. Overall it was worth it to watch. Although the series has been categorized as youth/school, the martial arts piece is superb. If you’re looking for a martial art series to watch I would recommend this. It doesn’t go in-depth in terms of showing teaching concepts but you get to see some cool things.
What I didn’t like about this it was that the male lead seem to only have one facial expression and he just appeared really rigid, almost like a computer. He was skilled but he just didn’t appear relaxed in any scene.

SLIGHTLY ROMANCE AND STUNNING SCENERY

I came here after watch IN A CLASS OF HER OWN and DR CUTIE,I never thought that these two leads in SWEET TAI CHI would be work together

I just impressive with wenjun on this was his first drama and also fisrt main role for sun qian

First,I really stunning on this story landscape, its really unreal plus how the production cleaverly shoot the scene, its really make all the tai chi scene perfectly profesional

I could say, this level of shoot is really naturable and detail on their purpose to keep the history element trough modern life

I just hope for season 2 or other drama that gathering them two badly, they just a cute couple

I love the way they confess a love without a word 'i love you' its made this drama is no lame

Here,I love the character feng piao piao that have a strong side, never give up but a little soft hearted and wei chu that very cold but has it charming side and it make sense that this two have a patient romance

The director really put the purpose on its place, tai chi and historical element is the goal for this drama,so I really impress of this production

Again, really hope for season 2 or a reunion drama for them

If it possible for season 2,they can make a story about their marriage and a conflict between others martial art from worldwide, how they could gather a power from other martial arts to be one actually.since they had competition in abroad in the last episode, they could make a story in overseas and start the conflict there.

Put more hatred and more conflict,it will be more sweet and memoriable story

Just a suggestion,I hope

Could have been better!

So, the story was kind of cute, i expected way moore from this drama, i only managed to finish it, because i fast-forwarded, and it's actually the first time i do so, ..
I don't recommend, there are so many beautiful drama out there, don't waste your time on this one.
The acting was so so, so many plot-holes,...
I mainly finished it because i was interested in the romance, but even that was poorly executed.
The female lead always had the same expressions like smirking or whatever (some crying scenes were soo cringe..), and the male lead was acting like a wooden piece lol, zero emotions. What a waste of time, geez!
i hope the rating will go down, it really doesn't deserve.

Started watching for Bi Wenjun, stayed for everything else

Honestly, I was super excited when I saw that Bi Wenjun was getting into acting and I wanted to watch this, his first drama as the ML.
So, yes, silly as it sounds, I started watching this for the visuals.
BUT. There’s a lot more depth to this drama and there’s a lot more to enjoy than just Bi Wenjun.
The set and the characters are on par with each other as far as beauty goes and the blend of traditional Chinese culture and modern culture was something super fascinating to watch.
Tai Chi is also something beautiful to watch and the match scenes were fun
Nothing too serious, but something enjoyable and aesthetically pleasing, so honestly, what else can I ask for?
