This Drama started off as frothy, silly fun, and I loved the wacky elements, including frequent scenes that reminded me of Herman's Head. Then, along with "ex-mania", came a whole lot of really thoughtful conversations, ESPECIALLY between the women. The Drama ended up saying a lot of very intelligent and well-thought out things about the nature and role of love in life, and about pros and cons of defining one's own happiness by the state of one's "love" life. Another solid win for J romance Dramas.

" Motokare Mania " had pontential, but it felt like it was wasting it.

First of all, the leading lady was really good. She was charming, adorable, and she had chemistry with her love interest. The latter was pretty cute, as well, and he added some comedy to the drama. The side characters were really entertaining as well, and their stories were interesting, probably more interesting than the main one after a while.

So, the first part of the drama was good, with some cute moments of the couple and the anticipation of their either reunion or final break up. However, it got tiring after the first half. And it got a bit boring as well.

So, overall, six out of ten.

I picked this drama up because I had nothing to do and I just... I guess, I wanted to support Araki Yuko. What kept me going are the multiple personalities that were personified, really. It was so much fun. Plus the theme song was sung really enthusiastically by Rei Yasuda. I had expectations when I started it.

The first conflict about Marunouchi Sakura was nothing more than a misunderstanding and then led to the underlying root of them being nothing more than MotoKare Manias themselves and at which they became friends, including Mugi. I liked the friendship they shared and the backstories that brought them together. I liked how honest they were at each other and it showed real emotions people go through as they want to move forward from exes.

However, there were downfalls from this focus, honestly. The story did not reveal an inch as to why Makoto and Yurika broke up in the first place. I kept looking for the reason throughout the story and I just assumed it was out of... a dry season?? ((Kkwontaeggi in Korean; IDK if I spelled it right)) Like, that's it??? There was nothing to it. And because there was nothing to it, they were bound to get back together again anyway, like it was fate for them to go back with each other. Nothing. Special. I didn't like that part... But maybe that's the real thing about the story. Stating the fact that couples could pass through their dry season into a more beautiful and lively season. And with that, if they break through that dry season, they last forever.

Anyway, I guess Yurika and Makoto's story didn't shake me up like Yamashita and Mugi's story. Theirs were, at least, more fun than Yurika and Makoto's, but I long got tired to it because of the reality of it all. Ugh. Careers over love is too real.

Now, skipping over to Sakura's love story, we get to see something refreshing. I didn't expect Shirai to be liking Sakura. That was, maybe, the twist I didn't know I needed throughout the story as the progression became boring and too real and I just inched my way on finishing the series. Well, I guess Sakura and Shirai's story probably saved the series for me.

Well, in the end, I guess, that this story was a fun series to watch like listening to a friend telling a story so animatedly with all the gestures and you go home just feeling that you ate a good meal with that friend. It's not just what I could watch in the long run (Thank goodness it just has 9 eps). I could not rewatch the whole thing, honestly :( I'm sorry to the likers of this series. Maybe slice of life romance with real conflicts are not just for me!

Anyway, thank you for reading my very first review! This has been a pleasure of mine. If there are grammatical errors (lol) then please say so. I appreciate corrections as english is not my native language.

Dont expect much about this show, it's just pleasant to watch but nothing else.

The story works just fine and there's no big holes on it, the acting is good, but I think that with the supporting characters they could have done more, its well produced, and the song "Revival love" makes a good match with the entire show.

I think モトカレマニア (motokare mania) lacks of innovation and they used the old well worked ideas that many many shows of this genre follow, becoming a cliche itself, and that makes the show unremarkable and not difficult to forget.

You could watch it and you wont feel dissapointed unless you have watched many other 'look a like' shows like this, at the end it represents the typical japanese comedy which is simply easy to watch and easy to like.

quirky and fun romcom

The best thing about this drama are the unusual romantic supporting male characters. I love that we had Yamashita, a guy actually compared a bit to a bulldog, and then we had Shirai, the muscle-bound romantic. It was just refreshing to have guys who look a little outside the norm finding true love with the women of their choice. It was just overall lovely.

The message I liked the most in the drama is that so long as we're not harming anyone, loving something passionately and to obsession isn't such a bad thing. I mean, we're pretty much all on MDL for that reason, right? Our loves and hobbies and interests give us joy and that's what they should do. So that was a really nice message.

Makochi learned a valuable lesson, I think, about how you're not always going to be happy. That he and Yurika should be allowed to be sad and angry and happy and express those feelings to each other. They have to create a safe space where they don't have to fake what they're feeling.

Love Hiromi and her husband Katsuya in the last episode. I mean, they really were the healthiest relationship in the entire show (even though we only met him at the end), simply because they showed each other their bad sides, but were confident in their love for each other. They were pretty spectacular. I also have a thing for guys with bleached hair, so yeah, Katsuya was adorable. And the bartender, whoever the heck plays him since I'm not sure we were ever given a name, but he's the cutest and again, bleached hair!

I will say that the drama does drag a little bit and I nearly dropped it after the first 2 episodes. But I'm glad I persevered because it got progressively better. It's not rewatchable for me but I don't regret watching it.
