Before you watch this drama make sure to control your emotion.

The drama start with Chu Xhuan Ji FL ( a god) which was emotional less created by Hao Chen in a illegal way and send into the mortal world .later on she meet the ML Yu Si Feng which help her to regain the past memories and emotions . While he suffered many obstacle on the way .
I don’t know why people don’t judge by looking at their deep intension .The way all the sect people tourture Si Feng and wronged him every time makes me heartbreak .Sometimes I often thought of skipping the episode but at last i watch it all.Hopefully he didn’t hold the light of the devil.
I don’t think all the people become bad without a reason. The character Wu Tong wasn’t bad at all .At the beginning though he did some mistake he can be improved but all the sect people tried to kill him rather then giving him a chance or to improve.Later on he doesn’t have any option rather than to become evil. Somehow it shows our society how they pressure other people .
Although the ending is good but was it worth it for Yu Si Feng to endure all the pain for Chu ji? The pain was too excessive from the beginning till last .

The music are also good.

Acting - I love the way Cheng yi acted the most with all the scence very pertect while the supporting role also did thier best .

A beautiful story about two lovers overcoming hardships and staying true to each other.

If I had to sum up this show in one word, it would be: BREATHTAKING.
I loved everything about this drama. Starting from the world, the costumes, the scenery and the characters. I was in love the moment I started watching the first episode and was immediately captured by the story revolving around Xuanji and Sifeng. Starcrossed Lovers doesn't even come close to describing this tragic couple. I normally don't cry as much watching tv shows as I used to but these two rendered me speechless and turned me into a sobbing mess at times. Sifeng is one of those characters you can't even help but adore and love. Cheng Yi did an incredible job in portraying a tortured young man just trying his best. This self sacraficing cinnamon roll didn't deserve any of the shit he went through, giving up everything for Xuanji so many times. He went through torture, a world of ice, numerous lives being reborn in the human realm while getting killed by the one woman he loves more than himself, seemingly destined to die in each life when he gets even remotely close to said woman. I cried with him, for him, for their tragic love. Crystal Yuan as Xuanji was impeccable as well. Their chemistry on-screen was phenomenal and thus I melted a little every time Sifeng gave Xuanji one of his rare smiles or looked at her in adoration.
The side characters made this drama even more enjoyable, especially Linglong's side arc. I kind of saw myself in her a little and really felt for her. Sifeng's familar, the snake girl (I forgot her name) had me feeling frustrated at times but all she did was for the most selfless reasons and it made me sob.
The soundtrack was perfect and fit each scene incredibly well, especially the emotional ones.

Yeah well, to end this review: This show is a sobbing feast and everyone should suffer the way I had to suffer :)))

Six Senses, Endless Manipulation, and a Love That Refused to Die

📝 Review
(WARNING: Potential Spoilers — I’m Not Saving You from Any Emotional Damage)

Love and Redemption is, at its core, a story about learning how to feel.

Chu Xuan Ji begins as a girl born without her six senses—content to drift through life lazily, untouched by the emotional depth others take for granted. That changes when she meets Yu Si Feng at a tournament and unknowingly sets herself on a path tied to ancient secrets, origin shards, and the Demon Star’s soul.

From there, the cultivation world pulls her in. She becomes subordinate to Senior Hao Chen—who insists she remain heartless, under the pretense of protecting the realm. And let me say this clearly: I thought Hao Chen was a snake from start to finish. Not the amusing Little Silver Snake. Not the chaotic, entertaining Flying Snake spirit. A real snake. Calculating, manipulative, and always ten steps ahead in the worst way.

Si Feng, meanwhile, falls first—and falls hard. When they reunite four years later, he hides behind the Love Curse mask, trying to distance himself because loving her comes at a cost. She, still lacking her senses, is oblivious to the depth of his feelings but clings to their connection anyway. Tragically, she’s also been manipulated into believing that gaining her senses—and therefore her ability to love—would be dangerous.

What follows is a long, often painful unraveling. As Xuan Ji gradually regains her senses and learns what love truly is, her innocence and naivety make her vulnerable to manipulation from those who claim to protect her—her father, her sect, and especially Hao Chen.

The irony? She is the God of War. Powerful beyond measure. Yet emotionally unarmed.

And when the truth about her identity surfaces—when she discovers she is more than even that—the story shifts from simple romance to something larger: fate, reincarnation, and bonds that transcend lifetimes.

Yes, this drama can be frustrating. The misunderstandings stretch. The suffering piles up. Si Feng endures more than any male lead reasonably should. But the emotional payoff works because the growth is real. Xuan Ji doesn’t just fall in love—she learns what it means to feel, to choose, to defy manipulation, and to protect the one person who never stopped choosing her.

In the end, Love and Redemption isn’t just about romance. It’s about reclaiming emotion in a world that insists detachment equals righteousness.

💭 Final Mood
“Painful, dramatic, manipulative—and completely worth it.”

Watch for the Male lead's acting, chemistry btw main couple & some charismatic side characters

Love and Redemption is easy to get into as there is a nice pacing throughout the beginning of the story, accompanied by nolstagic bgm and a strong male lead who is able to convey emotions very well with his microexpressions, leaving no one doubting his pain and suffering in any form- emotional or physical, nor his affection for the FL.

Enter the FL. In my opinion, FL (Crystal Yuan) qualifies to be in the running for the worst actor award in a cdrama with her inability to emote and her excessive use of eyedrops that ironically highlight how poor her acting is than aid with any emotional scene itself . I will say she does have strong chemistry with the ML which is probably one of the reasons why it was easy to get hooked onto this drama if one is able to switch off when she had a crying scene or a scene where she is meant to act betrayed but just looks constipated.

I need to mention the actress who played SFL Ling long did not fare that much better than Crystal and Mingyan had a pretty useless existence in this drama despite being on the posters and all.

Side characters Brother Liu and Tengshe were a much needed presence and comic relief to this drama and helped pushed the story forward with renewed energy and charisma.

As for the narrative itself, there were lots of plot developments that make love and redemption quite an interesting journey, however it's a shame that this drama couldn't be the masterpiece it could have been because logic and character development were thrown out the window, with the story relying instead on misunderstandings to drive it forward.

You can watch this if you enjoy fluff knowing its just fluff and if you want to know what propelled actor Cheng Yi to his current fame. Just know that you WILL need to practice restraint when FL appears (post beginning stage) because you will wonder how she was ever able to become an actress and why nobody in her inner circle had the integrity to stop her from choosing this profession.

Flying under a radar!

I didn't know this will turn out to be something i can't put down and will be glued to it. I was sad that it got over. Initially i was annoyed with FL as she took everything for granted or acted naïve. But later on she gets better slowly. Also our FL i found it plain looking and not so beautiful whichever angle i see it from. This is a slow burn romance, it takes it's time to get there. I thing i remember clearly is chemistry is off the charts for the leads. Story plot is complex and if you don't pay attention you can easily miss it. I don't write long reviews and dissect each part but that is becoz i don't have the skill :)
I only like to write about what struck me the most and stayed with me after watching this few months ago. Definitely go for it if you are like me who enjoys Chinese wuxia dramas.

nice drama

This drama started off really nice and got me hooked from the beginning episodes... the middle was okay and the ending part was awesome, the episodes of misunderstandings felt too long and the male lead sacrificing himself every time was somewhat exhausting but i really liked the drama... although i did skip a lot (i always do with very long dramas), i didn't skip as much as i usually do. many of the characters here are likable. female lead is one of the most bearable chinese dramas have given us in a while (she had only a few episodes of stupidity ONLY). Although the villans were annoying, have to admit they were good looking lol..... the ending was satisfying imo everybody got what they deserved.
overall drama quality is up to par with Ten miles of peach blossoms and ashes of love which are my favorites in this genre. the music was lovely as well.

Oh...

Ooh ooh ooh. This one hurt. Many years later, I could still feel the lingering pain. Too much pain. Do not recommend TBH haha. Here's what I wrote at the time:
it was good. First half was GREAT. This show was the definition of an emotional rollercoaster...literally. This show would make you feel happy, sad, mad, excited ALL in the same minute! You would definitely cry abt 58 times while watching this. I gotta warn you tho... when it was 3/4 of the way i became so emotionally exhausted that i felt heartless... that is the reason i didn't give it 10 stars. It hurt so bad that i didn't care anymore... i hated everyone (except sifeng ofc) and hoped they suffered as much as our ML did. overall it was a great ending, our main characters definitely deserved it after everything they've been through...
However, I give 100/10 stars for the ONE kiss scene tho! iykyk😉😋

One of the BEST XIANXIA ever

I watched this series during pandemic as i had nothing to do BUT i didnt expect this to be this good. It is my first xianxia and until now, it remains as my best as i have watched others. You just got to watch beyond episode 3 and then u will get hooked. I never knew about Cheng Yi nor Yuan Bing Yan but their acting and CP was one of the best i have seen in ages. The story is almost flawless and made me re-watch too many times. I must admit the main male lead Cheng Yi did so well that whenever he cried, i cried too. This is what viewers want and enjoy the most. And with a happy ending, who wouldnt liked?

The story is well written. It was will organized and has quality without the drama garbage. There are bits of humor, romance, and tragedy all mixed with cultivation involving the three realms adding some magical/spiritual/divine beasts. I am glad there was some efforts made to create a happy ending and all bits and pieces of the story eventually merged together in a most satisfying ending. The actors did a great job in bring the story to life. The music scores blended well with the story in creating the right emotion and atmosphere without drowning the dialog which I find disappointing in some dramas. I binged through the whole drama but it would be quite awhile before I would watch it again but it was definitely worthy of watching at least once.
