Unnecessary drama and disappointing.

I really wanted to watch this series as i am a big fan of the ML, but after 20 episodes, i just couldn't do it anymore.

the FL really annoyed me, I get the whole need to find her master killer and all, but the fact that she was so dense to the ML feelings, was just doing her own thing and never seeing the bigger picture was what really got me, there were times when the ML also just annoyed me, why the HELL couldn't he just admit his feeling for her, clearly he had them and went over backwards for her, this whole story was a just a backwards and forwards between trying to find out the truth not them fighting or misunderstanding of a case, and when they finally admitted to each other, she still went against him and insisted that the marriage was a fake, and yet not once did you hear that from the ML, she just kept insisting and pushing the man away.

What I did like was the bound between the brothers, they stood by each other and worked together, but never interfered, just helped and guided there way through a true brother hood, the other 2 FL that fell in love with the brothers, were by far better then the main FL, especially Xio Bao mother, she seemed to have a more put together self and everything she did was well thought out, even the older brother girl who knew she didn't want to be part of the palace help the older brother, and they were there for each other, again i felt her role was better played then the main FL.

I feel like the pacing is really weird with a lot of the important events happening in the background in favor of cheap plot twists. The mystery angle of this drama lacks buildup.

This whole series really lacked creativity and way to much unnecessary drama and dialogue.

Highly recommended but cannot be narrow minded

This drama finally aired and I was so happy! Although I know they could be better and I wish that it will follow the novel unfortunately he didn’t follow the novel. Even though it didn’t follow the novel, I still like the drama very much. The acting was good the soundtrack was catchy and I love the costumes. The story line was slow but did not drag. I am so glad that the Female lead is not annoying. I cried watching the part when her master was beheaded it is very touching although it’s silly, The emotion and sad scene still deliver perfectly. I highly recommend it but do not expect the drama to follow or to be like the novel. ❤️❤️❤️

I don't have the right to a review because I dropped the show early on.

I don't think I have the rights to write a review on this one because I decided to drop the show early on, maybe around episode 4. But I'm gonna write one anyway.

Not for me. Watching a ML who values money more than anything is not how I wanted spend my time. Honestly, I didn't find anything interesting with the first few episodes that I've watched. FL being blind and her being on an arranged marriage with the ML while still looking for justice is their selling point that fell short.

I don't have the patience to wait for his character to develop into someone admirable. I don't have the patience to wait for ML and the FL to fall in love.

My observation may be off because I've watched too little but this is how I feel about the show.

It's criminal how the producers of this drama butchered a delightful romantic comedy

I started reading ongoing English translations of the novel on which this drama is based on before the broadcast and was equally waiting for it to be broadcast, especially when I found out that Shane Xiao, whom I enjoyed watching in the Little Nonya will be the FL. But onto episode 4, I am banging my head on the wall - even a scriptwriter with mediocre talent could do a better job - he or she only need to lift the dialogue and plot from the book to write an engaging script. All the elements are there from Chapter 1 when we met the stingy Long Yue who does not like to loose money. Miffed when he was tricked by our blind FL, Ju Mu Er into building awnings over his shops to provide shelter from sun and rain for her flower seller friend, he started on a childish campaign to seek revenge. Follow the story when his harmless pranks (stealing her cane and scaring her in the woods) turned into unwilling attraction, from compassion when she was nearly killed when she walked into a midst of a murder to admiration. Book was written mainly from the point of his inner thoughts, and you can tell from their interactions, he was slowly and reluctantly falling in love so much so his initial rejection of her marriage proposal quickly turned into agreement when he realized that if she marry someone else, he can no longer bicker with her. Some of the scenes in the book are killer romantic, for instance when she was unconsciously moving her fingers over his hand while talking about teaching qin, he spread his hands to increase the surface area for her to touch and how quick he was to explain his presence in the brothel when she remarked she could tell which brothel he was in earlier from the scent of the ladies that lingered on his body. And the comedy....Ju Mu Er's father was so comically dense when Long Yue came to visit her, only to find FL's ex fiancée just left with gifts that demonstrated that he and Ju Mu Er were old friends and soulmate. Not only was he frustrated that FL was sleeping when he arrived, his future FIL was going on and on about the relationship of these two couples oblivious to the winking of Long Yue's bodyguard to stop, even remarking that the latter needs to see an eye specialist as he seems to have a tick in his eyes. Kudos to the translator for translating this scene from chinese to english so vividly I laughed out loud when I read that part.
But I digress. Back to the show which for some inexplicable reasons, the producer threw away all the delightful elements of the book to introduce a new character, Ju Mu Er's teacher and reduced the sexual tension between the couple to childish bickering . The intelligent Ju Mu Er who need to rely on her sense of touch and smell to compensate for her lack of sight became this wu xia maiden who fell again and again for ML's so obvious tricks. Chemistry between the OTP played by Shane Xiao and Xing Zhao Lin is almost non existent, the makeup garish transforming the delicate Shane Xiao into an over painted shrew and the lighting just flooding the whole set with bright light and colors. I can't bear to watch this drama - its too painful and have gone back to patiently waiting for the translated chapters to be slooowly uploaded.

This drama is a nice one to watch while waiting for a great one to come. Although it is a period romantic comedy, the leading actress did not exude the romance feel even as hard as the male lead tried. The writer(s) and editors kept her stubbornness for too long during the duration of this drama and it started to be annoying. The supporting cast romance stories were carried on better. The drama goes from melodramatic moments to a strange feel of comedy but it comes together at the end when the leading actress showed more support and trust on her husband. Xing Zhao Lin needs better actresses so he can shine again like in "The Eternal Love" series! It is not a great drama but it offers entertainment.
