Nice twists and turns

I loved it. A female lead who is strong and good at martial arts and a male lead who is not. :) I don't like it when the male lead always saves the female lead despite the fact that she's just as good at fighting, or even better, than him. In this show, she is the hero! Awesome! The show gets a bit boring around episodes 31-34, but keep watching, it's worth it. I almost stopped but I'm glad I continued. I did not expect that plot twist.
Also, I have to say, the actor (Yan Su) who played Feng Bu Fei did an epic job. He made me laugh so many times.

Complicated Middle Plot, Fresh SML+FL Romance, Didn't Like the ML

The story itself is quite interesting and the starting is really quite a hook... I enter the drama without expectations and ended up watching it! The initial direction that they are heading from the start is quite refreshing, but it went downhill as the story became too complicated. As the first part having the FL and SML romance was actually quite refreshing as it well establish and you can see why FL fell for SML, but everything went downhill from the wedding since the writers wanted drama. Meanwhile in the second part as the romance is suppose to be develop between ML and FL, it was not only too fast, but I see no spark, I felt like they fell in love for the story.

Honestly, I watched ML's acting in The Legend of the White Snake. I felt that his acting didn't improve, or that maybe he didn't suit the character and low key has a punchable face. His "in love but have to not show it face" isn't so convincing as well. Even though I pass that and continued to watch, the ML character itself is quite revenge oriented and doesn't evaluate well in my opinion. Like a normal person, I get it that you are blinded by revenge but he suppose to be the smart guy in this. His actions are quite questionable.

If you like poetic justice this drama is not for you

For me, this is one of the worst dramas I’ve seen so far. It triggered me in so many ways. The amount of unnecessary cruelty, stupidity and injustice in this drama is overwhelming.

FL’s whole family was killed for no reason but for dramatic effect. For the story itself it was enough to kill off parents. At least one brother should live. But, no, writers decided to kill them all.

ML is lying and manipulating FL, hiding things from her from start till the end, and she is OK with it, no problem. That is “love”. SML (with ML’s support) makes her cripple in the name of “saving her life”, and she is OK with it, too. Nodding and smiling like “yeah, he saved my life”. Would you be? What if she didn’t meet miraculous doctor? If she stayed that way, would she be ok with it then, too?

Princes is in huge amount of power over FL and SML, and she uses this power to break their engagement, to bully FL, to humiliate FL, but everyone is ok with it, no problem, keep going. She is toxic, yet, she was never questioned or self-reflected, or punished for her wronging. That suggests to the audience that people in power have right to do whatever they want without any sort of responsibility and punishment for wrongdoings. Nice message, authors. You should punish her for being ***, instead she got loving husband, happy life, child and nice people around her to treat her nicely. And she got death at the end, so she didn’t have to deal with loneliness and despise due to a fact that her, also disgusting grandfather, was a ruthless traitor.
And to add insult to the wound, FL now has to live with princess’ son, telling him stories how good person was his dear mommy, while she was one of 3 most disgusting characters in the whole drama. Nice going authors! Your sense for justice is … blah.

This is entertainment. Not real life. I expect to, at least here, have some sort of HE and poetic justice, since we can not have it in real life. We do get HE, but not poetic justice.

So. What I’ve learnt from this: 1) read spoilers so you don’t have to waste your time with stupid stuff like this; 2) check authors of the drama before watching so you don’t have to waste your time on their nonsense again; 3) drop it the moment it starts to annoy you with morals that don’t correspond to yours.

Thank you for reading. All the best to you.

The Moon Brightens For You is a decent series and I liked it.

The production of this series was ok to very good. There were at least one or two instances that the pacing wasn't good. One example is, i think, episode 24. In my opinion the music fit the tone of the series most of the time.

The acting ranged from good to excellent. However, I think either the director or female lead should have toned down Zhan Qinghong's smiling just a little. Xing Fei does have a beautiful smile and it was great to see it. The character was naive and happy which can be realistic but there were times i was asking why is she smiling right now? lol Do I feel like it was a negative? No. It was not really a negative thing but it seemed unusual to have the character smile in so many scenes.

I think the story was good for the most part. Somewhere in the mid teens and again around ep 29 I almost temporarily put this series on hold just to watch something different. I was concerned i wouldn't finish it if i did so i decided to continue on. I'm satisfied I stuck with it and found the story good enough through much of the series.

Overall this was an entertaining series. I would rate as good to very good and I think it's worth rewatching someday.

A disappointing Wuxia series, even whith good actors and lots of wired stunts.

PLOT: FL, a young leader of a small clan, joins a competition to become the leader of all martial arts clans. She is in a duo with the ML, handsome, cultured and intelligent, but too weak to be a pugilist. The ML becomes the leader, and together, they will try to restore order into the clans, and fight against the villains.

PROS:
+ Good actors (almost all)
+ Well-written story
+ a little touch of humor, thanks to the secondary characters ( Feng Yu is, in particular excellent)
+ good OST
+ A nice Happy ending (I like when it does'nt stop at the wedding :)

CONS:
- Yu Meng Long is an expressionless ML. OK, he can play "poker face", but there are minimal micro expressions required!
- FL's character is very naive, even idiotic (and her servant too).
- some narrative arcs are too long (love triangle, broken heart)
- The narration is too slow , the series could have been 24 episodes, it would have been enough.

=> I went to the end out of pure curiosity, but the journey was long... I will definitely not watch this drama again
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CONS:

Evil are chasing a technique of kunfu

Story started with a girl whose dream to be a leader of his clan ,the best and famous leader ,her nature is happy go lucky type, upright and pure. She Loves her apprentice and family . She met a boy who was looking for his father's murderer
That's why he hardly trust anyone and he had fallen in love with a girl whose father was suspicious of his father's murder . Evil people behind him because he had a special technique of martial art . In this way this story was started .Love triangle is there in the story . The story over with the destroying of the evils .
I didn't get it one thing that why story introduced her apprentice (who had learnt martial arts with her since childhood to adulthood ) who didn't have much role .I mean they would be part of fighting to kill the bad people . But soon their role was over .
Rest is good .
One time watch

The Moon Brightens For You is a great drama that offers a nice blending of wuxia, romance, and humor. Both leading and supporting cast did an excellent job bringing their characters to life. The leading couple, Zhan Qing Hong (played by Xing Fei) and Lin Fang (played by Yu Meng Long), delivered their characters very well. Their romance, although it was slow burned, once it developed, was full of chemistry, playfulness, endurance, and steadfast mutual support. The drama is artfully choreograph and the action scenes are very well done; one to mention, which is beautiful and heartwarming, is on episode 24 when Zhan Qing Hong delivers Lin Fang’s father Seven Star Swordsmanship fighting sequence, it was breathtaking! The plot is straightforward and uncomplicated; there are some very nice and tender moments as well as really heartbreaking ones that gave the characters an opportunity to show their acting talent and potential. This drama is filled with many antagonists from different martial artists groups and some very colorful characters; with one that truly excelled in his portrayal of the infamous thief with his signature back-scratcher, Feng Bu Fei masterfully played by Yan Su. This drama is really entertaining, enjoy it!

Nice costume drama

The story line was really interesting and I got really into it once I started watching it. At first I found the fl to be super annoying and her smile made me cringe a bit. I found her to be a bit too innocent and a bit dumb, but as I kept watching I started to enjoy her character development a bit more. However, there were many scenes that just didn't feel right. I couldn't feel the chemistry between either the female lead and the two male leads. It just happened too fast and a bit forced in my opinion. At first with Wen You it looked like a really good friendship rather than love. And later with Lin Fang I couldn't feel her change of heart that well. It always felt like it was the male characters who were truly in love with her. The lack of communication also pissed me off and the relationship between Wen You and the Princess was also not satisfying. I wished they showed their relationship development a bit more. Many of the characters pissed me off in so many ways and it got a bit annoying at some point. The fl is supposed to be simple and pure-hearted with a great sense of justice, but they just portrayed her as a bit too dumb sometimes. I got super annoyed when towards the end they were forced into a corner, she was hurt and in pain (which I personally liked because it seemed like a change of character), but when she woke up she was happy as a clam and it just didn't feel right. There were many things that felt rushed and not well explained. However, despite all of that, I really enjoyed the show. It was really entertaining and I would recommend if there's nothing better to watch and you jus't want a nice costume drama. I enjoyed the middle part of the story the most, and I also really enjoyed the character of Huo Yang.

Wulin Insights has all the information

The pleasing opening song that brought the lightness to the drama since day one. Loyalty and friendship come in life like little rewards between games. This drama portrayed woman warrior concept; the one where the FL isn't a damsel in distress kind. Even though the ML didn't have fighting skills but he did have good wits. Sometimes good wits and strength being divided makes things interesting, reasons to why I liked this drama. Each character suffered in their own way though I feel SML had it the most. Though the scene of ML and FL with her uncle master looked stretched but his "Simple" Simple" was really fun to hear. Fung Bufei was a character I couldn't hate. Qiu An, the times he came on-screen… He is so cute. The two other couples had influential chemistry in the show. The SFL was full of herself but her death and the first phase of her marriage was the fate she received. The eight-years leap was a cheerful one, kind of a glimpse of FL and SML's parallel love story. All in all the drama was predictable most of the times but who doesn't like it for a change when life has enough unpredictable things for you.

What kind of Male Lead was that???!!!

I was really excited about watching this drama, I love all dramas with a strong FL.
The first eps were fine, introducing the characters and giving some clues about the main plot but then everything went down really fast. OMG, the ML, what kind of male lead was that!? I mean, the second lead had more time in the screen than the ML, I know that he is smart but when the FL was in danger the second lead was the one who saved her. I think that creating the ML with a illeness that didn't let him practice art marcial IN A DRAMA FULL OF ART MARCIALS was a mistake, they made him useless.
I wanted to see a strong FL with a strong ML fighting together, this drama didn't give it to me.
I dropped it on ep 5, I don't know if the ML character developed as the drama went on, but I couldn't handle it.

2nd ML with FL in the beginning

ML characters are very different from his previous dramas. Good acting development for Alan Yu. More lively and expressive.

2nd ML syndrome may happen. While 2nd ML save FL many time, the ML only watch. ML is smart, but ML focus on get revenge & use people around him.

2nd ML role make me remember his previous role in Legend of Yun Xi. When Yalkun Merxat will stop being poor 2nd ML? He deserve main lead role with happy ending.

I like 2nd ML to end with FL more, but in the half of the story it start to destroy. How could they write the script like that, at first the 2nd ML & FL so close like a lover in the beginning then they destroy it so the FL will end with ML.

I already see FL in some modern drama. For FL nice acting improvement, try more Historical genre in the future.

Drama historique fort sympathique.
