The stories were super similar, but the show business aspect of Bei Bei and Jiawei careers reminded me of The Brightest Star in the Sky and it honestly made me want to rewatch it. It made think how I wish they showed more scenes of Bei Bei being a career driven actress because all I got from this drama was that we were told that Bei Bei was this amazing actress, and we just had to believe it.

Somewhat minor spoilers ahead (Nothing that shouldn’t be expected if you watch the intros and outros or read tags on this site)
I know that the basic plots of these two stories are pretty different, but please hear me out. Maybe it’s because they were both by MGTV, but I found loads of similarities to share.
Intense Love and Love the Way You Are were both dramas that I enjoyed watching when I had loads of extra time on my hands. While the former was about two people navigating through an arranged marriage and slowly starting to fall in love, Love the Way You Are dealt with misunderstandings from the past and new beginnings, as well as a mysterious “balloon disease”. However, while watching Intense Love, I constantly found myself thinking of Love the Way You Are. The relationship dynamics between the leads in both dramas were very similar. They initially were wary of each other, both male leads were like ice cubes that gradually started to thaw out, while the female leads were more outgoing and persistent. Both dramas are hate to love and involve some degree of cohabitation between the leads. In both dramas, the female lead had a career in the spotlight that often caused her a lot of trouble and tested her ability to keep the relationship going. They also both had psychopath female antagonists that caused a lot of trouble and made viewers want to rip their hair out :P The secondary leads were also similar in both dramas. LTWYA’s Luo Yiren and Intense Love’s Wu Di were both very strong, preferring to do things themselves. They were very loyal to the people they served and hated when others got in their way. The secondary male leads were both extremely persistent, even after facing loads of rejection. In both dramas, I was a lot more interested in the secondary couples than the mains but I get that that is just a personal opinion. Both dramas are very light and fluffy, and while there is some betrayal and annoying misunderstandings, they are both very suitable to watch when wanting to kill time.
Anyways, this was a basic summary of what I found to be similar among the two dramas and is obviously over-generalized. They are two very light, fluffy dramas that give off similar vibes.

- relationship with ordinary person and celebrity (along with 2 other couples)
- female lead is charismatic and a bit niave and straigh-forward towards love but stands up to herself against people bullying her. they're both cheerful and open-minded and know they're charming
- contract relationships

+ Both ML are cardio-doctor with stoic face and less expressions, they both tsundere but caring about the FL. I found the character pretty similiar in a good way, they can be cold and warm at same time, they have their own charisma so you'd fall in love with each of them.
+ FL fall in love with ML at first sight. they both also pursuing him non-stop and showing growth in her character. Even tho the FL a bit clumsy, but I love how unbothered ML when he was with her.
+ No unecessary drama, third party, or whatever used in dramas. They are pretty quick solved their own problems.
+ So manyyy fluffy-stuff, cringe yet not much, so it was enjoyable to watch their lovey dovey scenes.

Anw, BOTH are good and recommended dramas ^^

Both have heart-pounding romantic moments and a sizzling chemistry between the leads. Both avoid straying too far into dumb plot devices to drive the couple apart. Both offer a pleasant ride without too much angst. If you like the feel of one, you'll definitely like the other.

In both dramas the female lead fall in love first
But in intense live things are faster while in a little thing called first love, the romance is a bit dragged but it’s still cute with the tension they have.
They both will make you feel at ease, as theyr easy going and beautiful.

Both stories revolve with a famous female lead and a male lead that is a doctor.

In both shows the main leads have somehow met;
Intense Love: Su Jinbei (SJB) is supposed to be at a dinner with Zhuo Shiyun (ZSY) to discuss about marriage arranged by their parents however neither of them show up, yet fall in love in the end.

Dear Little Mermaid: Bai Qijia (BQJ) and Qin Ge (QG) were high school classmates and later met.

In Intense Love, ZSY also has a close friend that also a doctor who chases SJB's close friend/assistant, the same goes for Dear Little Mermaid. BQJ has a close fiend who is also a doctor and chases QG's best friend also her assistant.

Intense Love is also a drama where FL is a celebrity chases a non-celebrity male lead, but it's much more fun. It's a funny cute drama where things really happen and the story progresses. It's also a better job done by the same director of AROTLF. Highly recommended!
