Sweet, Touching, & Cute Youth Story

I saw the high ratings for this drama here and gave it a try a few months ago and finally finished it today. The drama did not have a high budget, which you can tell from the sets and outfits, but the acting and storyline were written very nicely! I loved the character development and the key points from each episode. Some moments were cute while others were heartwarming; it was a very nice combination of topics covered. Also, I loved the new actors/actresses in this youth drama since I never saw them before. I especially love the loveline of the main couple- Tan Song and Cheng Zi. They had AMAZING CHEMISTRY and I wish that I could see more of them together. Overall, a nice sweet short watch, and I enjoyed it.

Things I liked:
1. OST
2. Acting- discovered some young talent from these 5 new actors/actresses who I will be watching out for now
3. Storyline- every episode was interesting (although some more than others) and others were meaningful
4. Chemistry - Tan Song and Cheng Zi are adorable!! Would love to see them act together again in a mature romance in the workplace

Things I did not like:
1. The ending- It was concluded well but I wish we saw more of what happened to the five friends after graduation and maybe their future

One of the best youth drama/slice of life drama

This is a wonderful drama with great actors, real stories, and lots of laughs and tears.

Things I liked:

1) Each episode shows character growth. I learn something from them too.
2) The characters are realistic and relatable.
3) I didn't find anyone annoying. Sometimes, a drama is ruined by the annoying characters.
4) It's not an overly long drawn out drama. There's no "dead time" or parts I want to fast forward. There aren't too many flashbacks.
5) Each actor and actress played their role so well.
6) LOVE the music. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Lovely plot ; Lovely cast

Life has endless adventures for us and having people accompany you ups and downs of your life is a real blessing. Family and friends at the end of the day we are more comfortable with familiar faces around us. Not overdone and compactly described youth, this drama is exactly the one that gives you a relaxing vibe. Of course, makes you miss the school days and makes you realize how important the one you call family, the one you call friend is; sharing of smiles and tears. This drama is definitely a must watch, given the story and the compatibility and wonderful chemistry of the cast.

A really solid youth theme genre Chinese drama

May 8, 2021

It has come to end for bingeing this series and I must say I am not ready to say goodbye. I did not expect this drama to be that good! I really thought this was just some fluffy youth cdramas that I will breeze through. But all the five main characters really captured my heart. I relate so much to the family, friendship, and relationship dynamics that each character has.

Tan Song and Cheng Zi's relationship is so cute and pure! I really envied them so much. Obviously, since it is a cdrama, it is not very touchy or steamy per se, but I can feel the sweet innocent romance that they have. I must say in my 18 years of living life, I have never experienced such naive and fluffy romance. So seeing this drama really made me envious.

ALTHOUGH I AM SO MAD AT JINXIAO AND CHEN ZUI'S ENDING. WHY TF THEY DID NOT END UP TOGETHER. I NEED A SPIN-OFF STORY FOR THEM CAUSE HONEY THIS AIN'T IT. I AM ACTUALLY SO SAD HOLY. THAT'S WHY I TOOK HALF A STAR BECAUSE WHO ON EARTH DID THIS. I NEED TO SPEAK AND TALK TO THE DIRECTORS AND WRITERS CAUSE THEY DID THEM DIRTY AT THE END. YOU GAVE US ALL THESE TENSIONS JUST FOR THEM TO NOT HAVE A PROPER ENDING. Their ending was so confusing and unclear, I was literally like what on earth is happening??? Did the writer became lousy at the end or what?!!!!!

As for the other story, I won't get into too many details as it will ruin the fun and suspense. But I did not expect to laugh, then cry, grieve, and experience such a roller coaster of emotion in my life!!!

This drama really remind me of reply series, if you like reply series it worth to watch this drama, The story is made of small moments, some hilarious, some incredibly sweet, some profound, some all of those. The Cast and acting was perfect. Everyone was so natural, i love cheng zi and tan song so much, both of them was so cute, make me want to keep them on my pocket
I would highly recommend this drama to anyone who is a sucker for sweet love stories as well as people who are just looking for a drama that's not too heavy

Nice slice of life with some touching moments, but annoyingly jealous ML

TL;DR at the end with no spoilers.

I've been debating with myself for the last couple days over whether I liked this one or not. You know that feeling when you generally like what you're watching but there's something about it that really, really bothers you? Yeah, that's me with this show. But let me start with the good.

For the most part, the characters are likable and their interactions are entertaining enough, although it's kind of episodic in that not a lot of things carry over from previous episodes. It feels like it tells you bits of their lives while it's implied that significant time passes in the background. It's mostly events that seem to be contained in the episode where they take place, though; relationships between characters do evolve. Also, some episodes focus on particular (secondary) characters and, for me, those are the highlight of the show because of the way they portray relatable situations. I tend to value stories much more when they make me feel something, so this one gets points for that. The plot is secondary in character-driven stories like this, so I won't get into much detail. If you like the dynamics between the characters, you'll probably like the show.

However, in my opinion that part is also the problematic one. To be exact, I'm talking about the dynamics between the ML and the FL. I don't have much issue with the rest of the cast, since they're pretty normal people with their own quirks, but the ML gets particularly bad. At first, the ML and FL have kind of a quarreling relationship, which is not ideal, but many people do this to some extent growing up and they stop when they mature. Okay, mildly annoying if you're not into that, but bearable. The issues I have with the ML start when he realizes he likes the FL. From that moment on he becomes an overbearing, jealous prick that defaults to sulking whenever anything to do with the FL doesn't go his way. Some things that come to mind:

- When any guy her age attempts to touch her or display any kind of physical affection, he immediately separates them. This includes their male childhood friends from their own group, who have no interest in her.
- There's an episode where students are told to pair up with other students that complement their weak subjects. He doesn't have the guts to put down her name, so she gets assigned to a random guy. Of course, he gets jealous and forces his presence on them in their study session and treats the other guy like shit.
- There's another episode where she gets chosen to participate in a writing contest in another city, and the guy from the previous point appears for only the second time in the show because he's going to the contest too. The ML takes it upon himself to convince her parents that it's dangerous for her to go alone and that he should escort her as her guardian. During the trip, he treats the other guy like shit again, interferes with their conversations, fakes illness to get her attention, and groans when she dares to do her own things.

Now, don't get me wrong. He does have his good side with his friends and also treats the FL well when things go his way. It's just that, with all the cold-shouldering, belittling of her and other guys, and overall obsessive impulses, the times when he behaves himself around her look more like a manchild atoning for his sins rather than a well-intentioned but insecure teenager being his ordinary self. There were some episodes where he was so damn insufferable I had to pause many times to take a break from his antics. That might be only me, though, but you get the point.

You could argue that it's legitimate to portray unlikable characters because the world isn't just made up of perfect people, and I'd totally agree. But the show doesn't even acknowledge that he might be wrong; in fact, all the characters are enablers who brush off his bullshit and ignore the contradictions in the excuses he makes up for his actions. You could argue that it's still legitimate to portray unlikable characters with enablers, and I'd agree again, but it irks me to see it onscreen anyway and I'm leaving this warning here just in case you're like me. The happy ending just doesn't feel satisfying when you don't believe in the process that was supposed to bring it about.

I'm also not sold on the strategic appearance of guys who like the FL and girls who like the ML at the exact moment the plot needs them to move forward, but that I can live with. It's just something I noticed and you'll notice too after reading this.

Finally, to play the devil's advocate for a brief moment: I don't have the absolute truth, and I'm sure I must've also breezed through shows in the past that other people found unwatchable. It's up to you, really.

TL;DR:

It's a show with entertaining characters, some touching arcs, and some romance (that doesn't fully take off until they turn 18 and graduate high school because apparently liking people before that is a bad look in China). It's no masterpiece, but if you like character-driven stories, you'll probably dig this; if you want plot, not so much. Also, the ML turns into a jealous, obnoxious mess whenever he feels threatened by the presence of other guys in the FL's life, so bear that in mind because that was my number one reason for writing this review.

cute fluffy coming of age youth drama

this is overall such a nice watch. no skips at all. i'm usually not too into slice of life dramas but this one caught my eyes since it was also youth and romance centered. there's so many cute moments and the plot doesn't drag at all. i was first kinda hesitant to pick this one up cause the genre is so overused but i was so wrong. the story itself reminds me of kdrama reply 2007. centered around 5 high schoolers friendship as they go thru their last school years. the leads acting is so good like wow i couldn't even guess they were newer people. FL and ML cracked me up so much. i think a large part of this drama is it's relatability since both leads r not the best in school. the drama also talks about the importance of family and just life lessons. i rlly liked the little dialogue parts the FL had too, it allowed for more connection w the audience. music was alright it was suiting for the moments. fyi this drama is doing pretty well in china so i'm hoping these actors get more castings in the future. i would totally rewatch this drama and hoping for a season 2 w same cast !!

An emotional rollercoaster with laughs, tears, and heartwarming moments!

This drama that stole my heart and had me hooked from start to finish!

So, picture this: you're diving headfirst into the world of five childhood buddies, right? These guys are tighter than a jar of peanut butter, and their antics? Well, they're downright hilarious. I mean, who wouldn't want a crew like this?

Now, let me introduce you to our main squeeze, Tan Song and Chengzi. Oh boy, these two are like fire and ice - always at each other's throats, but deep down, they're tighter than a pair of skinny jeans on a rainy day. Watching their relationship evolve from constant bickering to genuine love and support? It's like witnessing a rom-com unfold right before your eyes.

And don't even get me started on the bromance! These guys? They're like the epitome of squad goals. You can practically feel the love radiating off the screen as they navigate through the ups and downs of high school life together.

But wait, there's more! The family dynamics in this drama? Chef's kiss! It's like one big, chaotic, yet heartwarming family reunion every episode. From meddling parents to adorable sibling rivalries, it's a rollercoaster of emotions that'll have you laughing, crying, and everything in between.

Oh, and did I mention the music? Honey, it's like the cherry on top of an already delicious sundae. The soundtrack perfectly complements each scene, tugging at your heartstrings and making you feel all the feels.

In a nutshell, "Lovely Us" isn't just a drama - it's a whirlwind of emotions, laughter, and heartwarming moments that'll leave you wanting more. So grab your popcorn, cozy up on the couch, and get ready for a wild ride. Trust me, you won't regret it!

ce n’est que mon avis

bonjour,
