MUST WATCH DRAMA

I have watched and i have loved so many cdramas, but this one particularly has a special place in my heart.Every single episode its so unique,and the drama portrays the meaning of the family and friendship in such a good way. There were many episodes that i couldn't hold my tears as I could identify with the characters feelings. This one is definitely on the good acting skills. The cast may be young in age but their acting skills were on point. FL and ML had such a good chemistry that you could feel from the very first moment the strong friendship between them, the same goes for the other characters too. Also, it was very intersting to watch the parents of each child and how they were managing their families differently.
I could keep writing about this drama forever, but i will stop and suggest you to watch it right away so you can understand how I feel haha .

The best slice of life youth drama i ever watched!

First of all i would like to apologize as my english is not that good, but i simply want to share how i love this so everyone won't miss this beautiful drama! This is first time i write a review.
Story:
Like other youth dramas, the story is about the friendship, school life, puppy love, problem with their parents. There are 5 main leads, they're childhood friends who grown up in the same neighborhood. The story is so simple, but the screenwriter combine with great acting of the actors make this drama is so beautifully done! The drama can make u laugh so hard and sad at the same episode with no evil characters, like "how can a highschool student plotting something so evil?" ( *cough At Eighteen). I love the relations between parents and childs even the relations between neighbors and build up romance of male lead and female lead. Even though romance is not the main plot, but romance in this drama is so satisfying especially in the last episode, make your heart melt with ML and FL sweet moment together. 16 episode is definitely not enough!
Acting/cast:
All the casts acting are so great, even the neighbors. But for me female lead is the star of this drama, she is so adorable and lovely. I love how Tian Xi Wei act as Cheng Zi who is cheerful, caring, positive and fragile at the same time, make me want to hug her everytime I see her cried. The way she act cute is so natural. I watched Marcus Li's other drama, go go squid and fairyland lovers, his character is not far from those two dramas so I guess he doesn't have problem acting as Tan Song. Finnaly he get a chance to be a male lead and I'm glad he did pretty good job. His chemistry with female lead is top notch, how they quarrel, get jealous and how they console each other when one of them have problem is so satisfying to watch.
Music:
Music in this drama are good, especially the ending song make u drown in emotion when it plays in romantic scenes. You can search it at youtube.

With great acting and no evil characters definitely worth to rewatch without skipping any episode
Overall:
If u like youth story, slice of life, satisfying romance and most importantly no evil characters this drama is yours, and I promise u won't regret it!!

Fluff and slice of life in one series

I watched this after I read the reviews. Quick watch for a chinese drama. 16 episodes and each episode was good the story was well put together. Besides, I was looking for something to watch while waiting for new episodes of the heiress and dance of the phoenix.

5 childhood friends live together in a compound share the joy and pain of growing up. I like how the story focused on family and friendship and how the show developed each character.

Tan Song & Cheng Zi
The typical frenemies, you could tell they would eventually end up together. I like how Cheng Zi is not a weak and simple minded girl. She's a typical teenage girl who fangirls, has a crush here and there but has never been in love.
Tan Song is the boy next door that annoys her yet protects her for his own good. Lol. He does not admit thaf he likes her but if still shows.

The gradual development of their relationship from friends to being in a relationship was realistically written.

Chen Zui & Jin Xiao
The overacheiving friends in their group. What I like about this two is how their personality is a contrast of one another. Chen Zui is a boy whose sensitive and mindful of the emotuons of people he care about and Jin Xiao is a clueless girl except in her academics. This is like the opposite of a typical drama

I like and hate how their relationship was left open ended but I understand why. He understood that the girl he likes has dreams she wants to pursue and love is not on the top of her priority list. She's insensitive but not mean. She cares for her friend but it looked like she was not gonna fall for him anytime soon.

There are snippets in the last two episodes which I am not sure if the girl was hinting at him about her feelings but she asks a question like in a situational sense but dropped the topic eventually. He confessed but was not taken seriously because they were role playing at that couple gameshow. I teared up a little when the voice over at the last episode made me realize he wouldn't say his feelings for her but have done much for her without her knowing.

It made me realize something at one point we may all have had the unrequited love. You give it your best shot not expecting anything in return. It's sad. Heartbreaking even but you will never show that pain to anyone else.

Jin Zhao & Ouyang
I like these two a lot. Although they don't know want in life they are happy to live the lifw they have.

Ouyang is that guy everyone has a crush on because he's a gentleman and a manly man. Girls can't help but fall for the guy who seemed to have it.

Jin Zhao knows himself well enough to stop hoping for a college life he knows he's not good academically and he bravely faced life head on starting at telling his mom to let him be. I like how he and his sister Jin Xiao showed a typical sibling relationship.

I like also how each househould is different from the others
Yet since they have been neighbors far too long they seem like one big happy family. I must say it was short, sweet, and makes me want for more but I kinda think they concluded it well. No messy third parties and no second lead syndrome. I definitely would watch this again.

Super solid slice-of-life family/friends drama

If you like realistic slice-of-life dramas, this is one for you. There are no major "typical" drama plots, but instead focuses on the life of 5 friends and their respective families. The story writing is great: each of the 5 main characters have their own flaws, but somehow their group dynamic just meshes really well. Within a single episode, it can make you laugh out loud, but also be in tears at the end. The casting is also perfect: even though the actors/actresses are quite young and inexperienced, they portray their roles perfectly. I'm especially impressed with Silvery Li. If I had to critize one thing, it would be that some relationships/scenes were repeated too often/ became too draggy/forced.

Overall, this is a great, solid drama to pick up. The quality of the drama stays pretty similar throughout the whole drama, so just watch the first 2 episodes to decide whether you will like it.

Cute story of friendship and love blossoms :)

Love this drama. such a cute , short and simple story of about five friends who grew up together. It talks about them going through life in high school, talks about family. Another plus for me is that it was set back in the 2007/2008 which was around my high school time. it made me reminisce / wish my high school times were like this/ had the friends to do stuff with :(

16 episodes was definitely the perfect amount. The whole was really cute and light hearted and did not drag at all. The female lead is super cute ! she looks like shen yue ( chinese actress) . Her personality is quirky, loud, and cute. She and the male lead are a bickering couple. They fall for each other towards the end. Its amazing to see such a close knit friendship between the five. It talks about them going through life in high school, going through exams, celebrating holidays, coping with a loved one, reunion of family member, and along the end with some romance.

The male lead and female lead chemistry is so good. they are such a cute bickering couple, always yelling at each other/ fighting with each other. lol that is how their relationship blossoms. Although the main part of this drama isnt the romance, there were still really cute romantic scenes at the last ep.

One regret of the story was how one of the other friend also likes their other friend but their story never got any further plot development. :(

I would totally recommend watching :)

One the best youth drama ever, don't miss it.

This drama is the best one I have even seen. I watch drama since over 10 years now, and I used to love Kdrama, but since Ever Night, I watch more and more Cdrama. And this one is really one of the best drama ever, so beautiful, so poetic, so magic! We laugh and right after we cry so much, not because we are sad but because this show is so magic and so beautiful that we can only cry because we are feel so happy and touched....And the romance is one of the best one. The romance is so freaking cute, we always wait for them to have interaction. They fight all the time but they care so much for each other, their feelings are so deep and every words they have for each other are truly sincere and so real.
I have never cry before so much for a drama, a movie or a book, but with this one, I cry pretty much at every episode...The OST is wonderful, I love all the songs and each time we hear on of the songs in the drama, it is really powerful...
Well, in one word : amazing. Don't hesitate to watch this drama, I can't find words enough strength to describe how we feel after watching this, but I can say one thing : watching this makes you happy.
I am not done with it, I am still watching it, But, I just cried so much that I just feel that I need to write it.


We finished this amazing drama just yesterday. I feel so happy and blesses while watching it. It felts like I was connected with the gang and now it is done, I feel like I am loosing friends. For some episodes, I cried so much and for another ones, I laugh and smiled all the time. It was the kind of drama to make you believe in friendship, love and relation between parents and kids.
The OST is really magic, I love it and keep listening all day long.
It is gonna be really hard to watch another one after this one. I will keep in my souvenir for a very long time Tang Son and "Orange" and their best buddies.

Probably one of the best slice-of-life C-drama

Now I have watched many cdramas centered around school life with all the usual topics like puppy love, family issues, growing up and all of that involved but this one holds a special place in my heart.

STORY:
This drama is as simple as it can be, but it never demotivated me from watching it (I completed the drama in a day!) There's almost no way you would wanna stop as you are just simple drawn into the story like its your own. The way this simple and sweet story is told is so smooth, almost calming. Although mostly based around friendship, this drama has shone light on 'family' just as much. As simple as this drama is, it leaves you thinking, wondering, and wanting to cherish the people around you.
ALSO THE VISUALS. They were so well chosen for every bit of the story.

ACTING/CAST:
The cast was immaculate. The characters felt so real because the actors all embodied their so well. The FLs (there are 2 of them) were probably my faves. None of what they did came out awkward, the cutesy actions, the over exaggerated smiles, all of it. This was one of the rare times I fell for a female lead(that too 2 of them omg). The boys are also so well casted. In short, the actors make you forget that they are even acting and just feel like they are your own next door friends.

OSTs:
Just like the drama, sweet and simple sounds, that remind you of your youth (if you are out of high school that is) there are osts with all English lyrics and they never felt awkward playing behind the characters that were speaking Chinese. (which I find weird most of the times)

REWATCH VALUE:
The only reason I gave it a 9 is because watching a drama for the 2nd time no matter how good is always less fun than the 1st; but in my heart I'd give it a 10 in this category too. I'll probably watch it 3 times more before it gets any less fun for me.

IN CONCLUSION: Please watch this drama you'll not regret a second of it!

Reply 1988 meets A River Runs Though It light...

This was sweet and kind of innocent showing a beautiful friendship, lovable characters and parants that are not as awful as many other C-drama parants... Actually the fathers in this are even really nice most of the time. Giving me a bunch of beloved cliches and a lot of things I like but also a bit too many monologs and things I have seen done better to get up the score to a full 9 or 10.

What bothered me the most was one of the moms who was just annoying and the way 5th wheel/ fat brother was portrayed making me want to skip-watch whenever those two appeared.

What I enjoyed the most was the friendship, the duality and the chemistry between the other 4 leads. the playfulleness.. even If I am compelled to say, that jealousy teasing and hitting each other is not a good basis for a relationship but indeed a lot of fun to watch. That said the male lead does not force himself on the female lead even once... The other male lead is so sweet, he does need to learn to use words and speak up for himself but he is just such a cutie, smart, fun, the type to read the room... while both are lovely, supportive and a lot of fun to watch that guy is just a little bit better then the main lead in the main couple.

There is one scene, that can be interpreted as either an attempt to add trans representation that can pass though Chinese censorship or an act of yet again making trans people invisible. So to those watching you I would like to say people who are assigned one gender at birth can very much change both geniteailia or discover that they indeed are do not belong to the gender assigned to them at birth.

The is definitely one of the smoother, less angsty youth dramas out there, easy to binge, easy to laugh, easy to fall in love with the characters. just remember that fat people are humans too and all will be well...

Highly recommend - Must watch drama

"Lovely Us" definitely made my 3 top favourite dramas of all time. It didn't slow down or tell somewhat useless stories, and personally I think that it is just right.

Story: Really good story, I loved it. It's not every drama that can make me laugh a lot and cry a lot at the same time. The plot really made me think more about my life, family, and friends in general. This drama also made me feel extremely jealous of those who have good friends who are there for them and friendships that go forever. I hope one day I can meet wonderful people too. I had too many favourite parts in the drama, but two that stood out to me was:
1. When Tan Song and Huang Chengzi dressed up for Halloween, that was very funny.
2. When Grandpa Lin died, because it was a significant part of story, showing us that we gotta move on. I also cried when they rushed to the hospital.

Acting cast: I don't think any other cast could replace the chemistry and between these 5 actors. I loved them and it really allowed me to get to know some new amazing actors.

Music: The theme song used to be my favourite song. I also really liked the other songs that was in the drama.

Rewatch value: Not too long/time consuming, definitely high rewatch value.

Likes and Dislikes

Complaints:
I watched Ms. Cupid In Love before this drama so my opinion on Tian Xi Wei is rather negative. Her voice is so high and sometimes the emotions are exaggerated. Voice is really sharp and the story is less of a plot and more about cultivating relationships with people. (I enjoy plot>character's love life).
The story revolves around the 5 friends and not much of the world. (School, work, classmates, teachers, etc.)
The timeline of the story is only their senior 3 time and no other time. We don't see them grow and work hard towards their dreams.


Things I enjoyed:
The sweet subtle moments of care between the main couple is really worth going back to rewatch.
There are enough incidents that logically bring the two together.
The most enjoyable part is that there are no love triangle, negative thoughts and schemes.

Overall thoughts of the drama:
Its a good modern drama to pass time with and its a really cute drama however due to the fact that it revolves more around the 5 friends' relationships, it barely has any plot or exterior story to it.
