A nice Xin Xia Drama
The Drama "stars Yu Shu Xin as Xiao Lan Hua, the orchid fairy who is the reincarnation of one of the young women from the defeated army, Dylan Wang as Dong Fang Qing Cang, the Lord Devil, who wants to conquer the three realms, Zhang Ling He as Lord Cheng Heng, the God of War.The female Lead's personality was annoying. Usually I don't make a fuss about a character being annoying as long as it's consistent and logical. But she was too much. The high pitch voice irritated me. She was so bubbly it seemed like she had no dimension. But it wasn't so. She wasn't easy to be deterred from her path once she has decided. I like smart female leads who can keep their word. It would have been better for her to have retained some sort of resemblance to her previous incarnation personality. Her peculiar things irritated me. How she always interrupted in places she had no business in. Like Dong Fang QingCang's Court room/throne room (idk). She was always dressed in that white bright costume. I would have liked if she had blended in, not completely but a little.
The ML was coolest, strongest, unfathomable being with cold on the outside, mushy on the inside, cute for FL personality in the drama with the only weakness being FL. Your usual Chinese Novel Male Lead. FL and ML had their own dynamic. It went something like this: My weakness is you. Oh no I can heal you. You were hurt the whole time You were with me. Now I have to suffer to prove my competence. Am I betraying you? Maybe, will you trust me? It was a bit chaotic to be honest. But it was set when there was war brewing between two greatest factions. So emotions are bound to get out of control/
The second ML was your usual Chinese Drama second male Lead. But I did like that even though he had responsibilities, he wasn't like "I don't deserve your love", "I am letting you go" or "I have responsibilities so I need to fulfill them." He was like, "That's the woman I love and I am gonna protect her at all cost." He might not have gotten the FL but he got my respect as a (S)ML. FL made the choice on her own. On the Other hand, FL did that "I have responsibility and I need to fulfill them" thing. Except she's the character to do that and it's perfectly logical she'd do that.
The story did have content but it got boring as it moved further. So rather than anticipating the ending I got bored. I was OK with whatever is gonna happen to the characters. That's not what I expected. I want to feel emotions as the story is entering into the grand Finale. The Visual FX were really good. I mean Watch the drama for the VFX if nothing else. They must have spent a lot on it. I mean you really have to see them. I especially liked the scene where the two friend were having wine on a river except it is shown like a painting. They really decreased the depth and it seemed such a new thing to do. The FL's abode was very pretty. I didn't like the trope where reason behind the greatest war was obsessive love. I would have loved some creativity.
It is one of the better XinXias I have seen. You should give it a try.

EPISODE 11 AND 12 AREN'T SO GOOD
Episode 11 and 12 arent so good. Dylans acting is fine. But i am not satisfied with this episodes i hope they can give justice to the plot in the upcoming episodes. I was like starting to drop this entire series. haayyssMoon tribe palace is heavily guarded but Chenghang and the founder of Haishi City can easily surpass and enter without any difficulties. tssk. I really like the first 10 episode. I was wondering if they'll sustain the hype with upcoming but episode 11 an and 12 arent satisfying instead it was a dissapointment.

Le Sigh
I really, really wanted to like this but I just couldn't get into it. I tried 3 times but my brain just won't let me accept a romantic relationship with a lead who basically acts like a child. If it was meant to be friendship I'd be fine but I'm expecting romance from a character who is basically a 5 year old in an adult body and I just can't move past that. Also, the harem of fairies. Oh please. My first, 2 months now as of writing this, adventure into chinese dramas, I'm starting to see a pattern of shows that just aren't for me.Visually, this show is stunning. A lot of green screen LOL The sets are glorious. It even just looks like a chinese fantasy. Palaces floating in the sky. Ornate head pieces etc The opening credits were actually my favourite thing LOL the artwork had my mouth open and I think that's why I just really wanted to like this.
It's one of those shows, I think this is my 3rd one now, where everything looks so grand but I just don't like the characters. This time I at least liked the ML but that was it. You can't force yourself to watch a show that you're just bored to tears watching. It's like a christmas cookie. All visual, no flavour.

An entertaining xianxia
This drama is not perfect by any means, but it is an entertaining xianxia with some elements that make it stand out from some of the more bland offerings in the genre, so despite its flaws, for me it’s worthwhile. However, I’m speaking as someone who read the novel and has been looking forward to this drama, so that may make me somewhat biased in favor of the drama.Unfortunately the biggest flaw may be the writing of the female lead. In about 40% of her scenes, she’s either pathetic or annoying. The actress playing her doesn’t help by making some truly bad choices—lots of flouncing, pouting, etc.—but these things are in line with the way the character is written, so I’m not sure I can blame the actress.
The male lead is better but the actor playing him is rather limited in his abilities. He does well when the male lead is being fearsome and majestic. He becomes bland and boring in most scenes when the male lead is interacting with the female lead.
The costumes for the drama are puzzling. The male lead’s costumery is fantastic. The female lead’s gowns are frumpy, baggy, dumpy, and ill-fitting. Headpieces for many male characters are ornate and interesting, going far beyond the usual bun holder crown style. You get the sense that the costume designer cared a lot about what the male characters were wearing, and then maybe wanted to keep the female characters well covered up? I don’t know, I’m hoping the costumes improve.
Production values are VERY HIGH, to rival any other big budget xianxia you have seen when it comes to effects and sets. If you can watch this drama in 1080p on a very large screen, DO SO.
In terms of plot…I don’t want to say much b/c I want to avoid spoilers. So I’ll put it this way: it seems like the drama may have cut out some of the best parts of the novel, or maybe is saving them for later, it’s hard to tell. It has certainly diverged from the novel, and not, in my opinion, in great ways. BUT the writing is very cohesive and the storytelling is highly competent.

the story and acting seems forced
I’m on episode seven but I keep pausing it to play Toon Blast instead of watch the show. I keep reading reviews about the show saying it’s incredible but I have yet to see anything to draw my attention to it. I wanted to drop it on the first episode but I’m tired of adding to my drop list I’m trying to complete every time I start now but I couldn’t do it . I’m putting it on hold for now maybe I can pick it back up later but at this current moment it does not seem worthwhile and overrated.Was this review helpful to you?
The annoying fairy made me drop it.
I heard about this title through TikTok, and since the visuals looked great and I loved the premise of the series, I decided to give it a go. Well, I find myself incredibly annoyed with the fairy (FL), and since she is in a majority of the scenes, I dropped the series. Let me start with the positives first before I'll talk about the negatives: the visuals are stunning. The sets are breathtaking and a feast for the eyes. The art in the opening is stunning, fitting the show perfectly, and the song in the opening has made its way into my playlist. The costumes are nice as well and fit the characters. However, some elements look like they were made with a 3D printer, and unfortunately, that takes away some of the charms the costumes have. When the characters fly, it is incredibly clear the actors were in harnesses which doesn't help with the emersion. I've read Dylan is a great actor, and I understand why people say that, He did an amazing job. Pretty sure the actrice who plays the fairy is skilled too, but I can't look further than the character she portrays. I've always hated female characters that are too clumsy, childish (the childish voice doesn't help), whiny, unthankful, and incredibly naive that you can bluntly consider her stupid. In my eyes, the fairy has no appeal. She tested my patience constantly with her personality and shenanigans. I felt immensely sorry for the demon. I had hoped she would have gone through some character development at the end of episode 5. Sad to say it didn't happen, thus my patience ran out. I can understand why this series might appeal to some people, but if you're in it for a fun dynamic between the fairy and demon, you'll find yourself just as much disappointed as I am. I suppose the series could become better later on, and that would be great. Even so, I quit.Was this review helpful to you?
The cast is made up of visually pleasing artists. Initially the performances are not surprising, but not compromising. Throughout the drama, with the different phases of the characters, the actors surprise with very good performances. This is the third work I've seen from actor Dylan Wang and, for the first time, his performance convinced me.
The direction managed to produce excellent scenes, did not make mistakes in the editing and finished without the 'running' of many dramas. The special effects are visually good, very elaborate and beautiful costumes, beautiful backgrounds and a pleasant soundtrack.

Not For Me But...
I'm dropping the series mostly because even up through episode 8, the action aspect of the plot never picked up pace. And personally really dislike the typical romance stories with overly innocent and useless women. What's worse is the rest of the other women so far have been portrayed as either being just as useless, full of drama, evil, and/or manipulative. This is very typical of the old-school ideal of Asian romance and couple portrayal. Poor woman/rich man, innocent and sweet woman/powerful and misunderstood man, attached with unrealistically cute voices that belong to girls who haven't gone through puberty.But for those who love these types of sappy stories, I can see why this one is on the higher-rated end and would definitely recommend. Personally I was putting up with the heavy romance scenes for while hoping the action and backstories would pick up at some point but it's been a slow burn.

Can’t stand it
The female lead character is acting like she’s 12 years old and he looks like he’s 15. I prefer the series with more mature actors instead. I can’t even finish the first episode, she’s so annoying. I’m not sure why they like having so many immature characters in their stories. Series like Novoland Pearl Eclipse, Love and Destiny, Lost Love in Times, Eternal Love and Eternal Love of Dream, Miss S are so much more interesting.I really hope to see more series with mature actors. Chang Chen, William Chan, Vengo Gao, Ni Ni, Yang Mi, Liu Shi Shi, Ma Yi Li are amongst my favorite actors/actresses.

Yet another low mark for Dylan Wang
My last review of a Dylan Wang series upset DW fans but as someone else here pointed out, they generally have a low bar so he gets high marks.This time I managed more than 8 episodes before giving up, I managed 9. The man simply cannot act. His fan club love his Girly Boy looks but seem blind to his lack of acting ability. It is obvious very early on that this will be a dragged out CGI series. The plot is thin and there are side plots that have no reference to the main story line.
This is just a series for the sake of giving Dylan Wang something to do. Yu Shu Xin was excellent in her role as Orchid and she managed to act the part despite the problem of a male lead who could not. Xu Hai Qiao would have made a much better Dongfang but still gave an excellent performance as Rong Hao.
Yet another Dylan Wang series to be avoided as you will never get back the time you wasted watching it.

Disgusting Shit.
What I liked:- Nothing. At. All.
What I didn’t like:
- The female lead is insufferable. Her voice is squeaky and she sounds awful. I don’t know if it’s her dubbed voice or her real voice but it’s awful on the ears. I wanted to watch ‘Moonlight’ drama starring Ding Yu Xi as I like this dude but gosh, she was a dealbreaker in ‘Moonlight’ too. Same reason. High-pitched voice and poor, stiff acting.
- I understand that this drama is a fantasy kind and such but the costumes were hideous and ridiculous-looking. There was a man (who looked trans) wearing some horn or coral thing on his head. It was an eyesore! The rest of the costumes didn’t look that pleasing either.
- The male lead came later on in the first episode and so, I can’t say much about him. I haven’t watched anything with him in it yet though I know that he’s famous.
All in all, I tried my best to sit through one episode to be fair to it and give it a chance but it is a NO. NO WAY. Not wasting precious drama time on rubbish.
Perhaps other viewers may like this drama but it’s not for me and To Each His or Her Own.
I guess this drama did not work out for me.
