Everything is a lie!

Imagine the pain of losing your child and an abusive husband, also going to jail for the crime you didn't commit. Lies of Lies is a drama that will take you on one hell of a ride. Such a great drama! The story is full of lies and plot twists. I really loved each and every episode. Great job Channel A.

Each episode is lies of lies, it keeps building up. Then in the end it breaks down. This drama is like a modern day makjang. There are times, my body is full of chills, there are scenes that will drive you super crazy. The evil mother-in-law tortures her daughter-in-law to death but again there are lies and lies...Oh god, I swear this drama is crazy. The last two episodes are so satisfying.

One of the best show I've watched.

I loved this production very much because I couldn't stop watching it. Lee YooRi always delivers us an amazing performance. It's all about her. He story, what she been through, how she tries to coup to everything, and mainly how her revenge is not her main goal, because she wants too much to have her kid back.
The relationship between her character and the male leading character is really well made.
I hope more people should watch it and enjoy this amazing tv show that has only positive stuff. It made me cry so many times and I just love k-dramas like these.

Warm sunlight on a cold winter day

It takes time for the warmth to reach the frozen hearts. Yet by the completion the frozen heart starts to melt.

Watched few episodes when it started airing and since I'm so impatient, gave up then and picked it up yesterday only to get my sleep robbed. It's been a while since I binge-watched a drama without skipping a scene. There's suspense, realism and mature romance.

Overall the story is good. The melodrama and the suspense parts are done well but the romance could have been better. All it missing was a little touch. Yes, two broken hearts are really trying to heal and their love language isn't touch but still a hug here and there would've been deep. Also Kang Ji Min and his family's love for Woo Joo moved me. All their scenes are so beautiful to watch. (Step aside silly sister! You made way too many poor choices for me to like you) Ending felt a bit lacking. Glad they included the BTS else I would've suffered much.

I chose this drama purely because of Lee Yoo Ri. Became a fan of her exceptional acting in Father is Strange and I must admit whenever she portrays a character she takes me all of myself into the character's world without me realizing it and the same happened here. I felt the pain, the happiness and all the various emotions of Ji Eun Soo to the bits. Yeon Jung Hoon as the soft-hearted Kang Ji Min comforted me. Can't believe he's the same Min Seok Hoon of Mask. He secured a place in my favorites list. As always Lee Il Hwa never disappoints. The child actress Go Na Hee is a scene stealer. She's gonna be a brightest star in the future. Rest of them are good too.

Music is really good.

Never gonna re-watch this though. Well, who knows it might be a lie. ;)

Deeply movie story with lots of plot twists

rating is 9/10. This is a 2020 suspense drama with 16, 70 minute episodes.

On the surface, Ji Eun-soo (Lee Yoo-ri) seemed to have a perfect life having married a handsome chaebol who is heir to a cosmetics conglomerate. What people do not know is her handsome husband is both physically and mentally abusive. Eun-zoo’s life takes a cruel twist when, after trying to escape her abuser, he finds her and begins beating her. Eun-soo fights back and is somehow rendered unconscious. She wakes to a living nightmare, she is covered in blood with a knife clutched in her hands and her husband’s bloodily, lifeless body is next to her. Seeing it as an open and shut case, Eun-soo is arrested and thrown in prison for the murder of her husband. Reviewing the case the details do not add up for one astute reporter, Kang Ji-min (Yeon Jung-hon) but before he can explore the details he is given a dream job outside of South Korea. Eun-soo gives birth in prison to a daughter in prison and believes her former mother-in-law when she claims, despite her hatred for Eun-soo, that the child is her last blood relative and she will raise her as a heiress. Ten years pass and Eun-soo is eager to see her daughter only to discover her mother-in-law played a cruel trick which ended in her infant daughter being adopted by a childless couple. Eun-soo finds out the details from a former employee of her mother-in-law and devises a plan to get close to her daughter. Her daughter’s adoptive father divorced his wife for infidelity and is now raising the little girl alone. Will Eun-soo’s plan to win his heart in order to be a mother to her daughter be successful? Can she unwind the twisted details of her husband’s murder to prove her innocence in order to be a mother her daughter is proud of?

Spoiler alert⏰ The first part of the series was very interesting because they left you uncertain what exactly happened that she was accused of killing her husband. The last scene they allowed you to see, before she was incarcerated, was of her holding a knife to keep him away from her. I was fairly sure that it was not her but was a little bit confused why she was not more outspoken about that. I wondered how her having her baby with her in prison was going to play out. It did keep you guessing a lot and I was surprised by a lot of the plot twist. I really liked the lead man because he seemEd like such a genuinely good person. I also liked her childhood friend in the fact that even when he realized he was not going to be able to be with her romantically he staged by her side as her friend and substitute family. I also liked the male lead’s family although the sister frustratEd me a bit because she would make decisions to do things with the little girl that I don’t think were in her best interest. I was also very uncomfortable in the beginning when the lead female was virtually stalking her own daughter. Without the family knowing anything about her she just seemed like a nefarious character. For the most part it was interesting and fast paced but there was a bit of a drag in the storyline about 3/4 of the way through the movie. It wasn’t significant enough of a slow down to make me dislike the story but I felt like it could’ve done without some of the details in that part and added some more happy to the ending. In fact I got really concerned about the ending because it seemed like it could’ve ended very sadly. It did not end sad but they let you think it might head that way until the last few scenes. But then the happy part only lasted just a few minutes and I would like to see less of the sad dramatic part that and more of the happy resolution but that’s just me. Overall it was a very good story and very believable in the way the entire plot played out. While the evil mother-in-law was very hard to understand in terms of why she had it out for the female lead that is the way it is sometimes with people who are sociopaths in that they do not see their own wrongdoing in anything. I recommend this series as a mo and deeply emotional drama but it certainly isn’t on the lighthearted side.

A Beautiful Melo

I really liked this drama. I was debating between an 8.5 or a 9. My overall suggested the site calculates for you is an 8.5 but I gave it a 9 because I basically binged this. This drama was really engaging. Of course, it was not perfect. It definitely had it's plot holes, required some suspension of disbelief from a medical and legal perspective and despite being a suspense, was predictable to some extent. But these flaws could be overlooked because the drama was so enjoyable and had that addictive factor.

The characters were well-written and cast did a really good job. I think Lee Yoo Ri is a great actress; even though she is given a fair amount of tragic-melo-revenge roles, she makes each role fresh. I'm glad they gave the female lead character good depth and showed the effects of her traumatic past. Granted, humans deal with trauma in different ways but too often I see dramas where the female lead has this tragic backstory but she never seems to have any mental consequences and always cheerful. I felt her emotions and motivations. There were a few times I teared up with her and I was always rooting for her happiness.

Lee Il Hwa did a really good job too; she got my blood boiling but she was horribly captivating the way only a charismatic actress can be. And I was dumbfounded when I realized I didn't even recognize her from a drama I had watched recently. I liked Yeon Jung Hoon well enough, he played his character very well. Go Na Hee was adorable and full of life; I loved her squeals of excitement. The only problem I had was Im Ju Eun. It's not even her fault but she has these (gorgeous) huge eyes that were emphasized even more with bold eye makeup. I kept noticing how she would widen her eyes all the time which made it look like she was constantly giving the death glare. Plus, I felt like her character was not the best written and somewhat inconsistent when it came to her goals and motivation. But I digress.

The music had this haunting quality that fit the mood of the drama very well. I don't usually rewatch dramas but I could see myself watching it again. If this dramas was dragged out to a 50-episdoe weekend drama (which for some reason I though it was initially), I would definably watch every episode. All-in-all, 100% recommend.

Enjoy the drama & prepare some tissue

I usually try to watch drama for 14 to 20 minutes to rate which is this one value to watch or not. If interesting , I would start to watch immediately or wait until I got the mood to watch.
The first episode got me hooked and I really enjoy to watch the drama. Some reviewers said it will makes you cry. I would say yes.
So, if you want to watch this , prepare some tissue, you don't know when you'll need it.
But even you have to cry, you'll find this one as a happy ending story.

This one is best family drama ever. Story is good.
The plot twist is good, but at the end the writer didn't explain where the son is came from. I just guessing that he is her biological son.
The acting of all main lead and supporting lead is totally good. Especially the daughter, she's so adorable and makes a good chemistry between main lead.

At the end, if you like a drama with family matters and murder crime, you will like this drama.

You have no choice but to invest your feelings!!!!

What. A. Rollercoaster. Ride!!!!

That was amazing.
First of all, i was randomly browsing through my VIU options when i came across this. Ofcourse, i checked the reviews and the plot first (as i always do) before i dived into it. And oh boy i am so glad i did.

I felt all sorts of emotions watching this show...
Anger, Pity, Love, Concern, Hurt, Depressed, Happy, Excited, Giddy, Nervous.... I was constantly holding on for dear life every episode because the villain in this series is crazy. I hated her guts and couldn't for the life of me understand her reason to the point where i hated her up until the series ended. I wanted her killed off but i guess the writer was thinking differently. There wasn't any reedeeming points about her character as a villain guys so don't expect any.

I loved the "family" factor in this. Yes, there was a bit of romance but her love for her daughter is what made me stick around. I am also in awe of the adoptive father here cause he was a damn good man.

All i can say is that, if you want something that will make you feel all sorts of emotion and don't mind a villain that you will truly hate, go ahead and give this a try!!!! So soooo goood!!!

Amazingly balanced

The storyline was exceptionally well laid out and was very believable. I went thought many different emotions through the series but I would say the most common was sadness. I have watched a fair number of dramas but this was the only one that made me cry. From the start to the end all episodes were focused on the main story line. There was very minimal side stories that did not directly contribute to the progression of the lead story. The ending was also very satisfying. The acting was phenomenal. Combining all this really led to a very enjoyable experience.

Had some potentials...

The amount of inconsistencies and plot holes was unbelievably grand. Rendering it exceedingly challenging and distracting to keep watching. Any semblance of suspense that the drama attempted to create was overshadowed by how easily predictable it was. However, Lee Yoo Ri pulling through as usual. Overall, it still passes for a sleepy watch.

this drama was solely being carried by Lee Yoo Ri and it had nothing else. I hoped for a makjang like secret or mask, but beside the initial melo it just became a family drama, 80% of it was light romcom between the mains and bonding between Eun Soo and Woo Joo with 10% filler scene with the ml's sister -which I won't lie I didn't watch any of it- then 5% is the super convenient "connections", 2nd ml is 1st fl's childhood friend, 2nd fl is 1st ml's ex, 2nd fl and 2nd ml work together, and both are jealous of the mains ;/ and the last 5% is the actual murder mystery and makjang, and that was it.

they should've just made this into a romcom, Kang Ji Min is a really sweet ml who never snooped or judged which is refreshing but it takes away the spice of makjangs, and woojoo was an adorable baby girl. Lee Il Hwa is also great in here but tbh as an evil mother in law she only needed 1 DNA test to prove the relationship between the fl and her daughter, so like it didn't need 7eps for her to find out but atleast it's better than alice and the detective not having a DNA test on his mom's look alike ;/
