On a day before the new year’s long-distance relay race, the final roster of the members who have made Hiyori Foods’ track and field team are announced. Awashima Yuichi has been dropped, and his track and field coach Katase also delivers the notice that his exclusion from the team means he is fired. He cannot bring himself to tell his wife Nami, who is pregnant, as well as his son Hayato, who is taking the junior high school entrance exams. Meanwhile, Awashima receives an offer from a runner who needs an escort. This runner is Uchida Kenji. Uchida used to be a soccer star but lost his sight in a freak accident four years ago. He aspires to make a comeback as a blind runner with the goal of participating in the Tokyo Paralympics. If Awashima agrees to run alongside Uchida, he can remain at Hiyori Foods. Awashima accepts. However, Awashima and Uchida get off to the worst start. They constantly clash over the training, and the pace at which they run does not match even when Uchida is tethered to Awashima. However, a relationship of trust gradually grows between the two of them before they even realise it. With the support of Uchida’s staff, Takakura Maki, the two men keep on training. Then they participate in the qualifying trials for the Paralympics. Otaki Junya, Awashima’s rival in marathon relays since university days, stands in their way as an escort. There is just one ticket to the Paralympics. What lies in wait for Awashima and Uchida as they push themselves in the race of their lives? (Source: Jdrama Weblog) Edit Translation
