The Kings are so back!

This is not your usual BL series. I love the element of suspense, mystery and romance in this drama.

The subtleties of the romantic connection between Max and Tul is enough to make your heart giddy. As always, Max and Tul give justice to their characters with their great acting. Their eyes and facial expressions convey the emotions even without any dialogues.

The suspense is so nail biting, we are already at episode 5 yet the killer still remains a mystery. I like the use of medical language because it tells that they did their research to make it well-written.

Difficult to categorize this drama - just watch it !

This drams is just well scripted as a crime drama, and if it is added BL essence... it becomes ' WOW ! ' All characters/actors are superb. Some act very suspicious – some surprising facts are spread over every episode and you want to re-watch from the 1st episode. You are on roller coaster – up and down!
While calming down your emotion, you can enjoy the scenery set at very beautiful Thai nature. Thai tourist board should promote this drama for their campaign.

As for BL part,
I didn't know Max and Tul until this drama, how had I missed their existence! They are King of BL -once you witness their bond and passion, other BL couples will fade away. They did great job to put their soul into tutor Tan and Dr.Bunn. No need to talk - their eyes and faces speak how much they are caring each other. Once they get overwhelmed, nobody can stop them.
*** warning ***
Do not forget to breathe- their love scene is easily taking your breath!

Manner of Death

In simple Language - I LOVE IT (so far)
I usually don't tend to give reviews, even if I enjoy a drama, partially because of laziness and partially because I have never had the impulse, where a drama gave me such a stimulation to actually give a review.
Manner of Death - Starts off (for my taste) a bit dry - there wasn't much going on, but from ep 2 it starts building up and generally your expectation towards the drama gets even higher. It makes you guess what may happen next.
Personally, this drama (so far) has everything which may arouse a watchers interest - Romance, Mystery, Crime and etc.
I won't give any spoilers - but do go check it out (if you're anything like me, who tends to lose interest/get distracted really easily).

Yawn

I am so sorry to sum this series up this way, but it just did not capture my imagination as much as I thought it would. It seemed so enticing in the beginning but then it got twisted in its own story plot and for me, predicable. Let us establish up front that the leading men are some of the handsomest men on the planet and have such good chemistry together, but it is not an overly romantic tale. In fact, the romance is rather anecdotal (until the end). The storyline is rather complicated, and it is so belabored in detail that you have to see it to believe it. It felt too much like a cop ‘soap opera’ which I know of course it is. I would, however, still recommend this as it has some delicious plot twists and some evil people and some very handsome men.

I expected more, but it wasn't bad.

Honestly, I feel like the production value could have been way better, I could literally hear the poor sound editing in many episodes. But the technical stuff aside, in terms of the story, maybe more episodes would have been a good idea to flesh out the plot properly because it fell short, and it seemed a bit rushed. The acting was awkward and stiff in several places, MaxTul have a lot of natural chemistry for sure, every fan of theirs knows that, but in this show it felt like they were trying too hard to have chemistry instead of just doing what they do. Could have been all the pressure or just iffy directing. Many scenes also felt out of place (or, due to the low number of episodes, underdeveloped in the over all plot) But still, MaxTul carried this one home anyway, even with the super cheesy ending, I enjoyed it, it wasn't amazing, but it's not bad.

Totally sold on detective developments, not sure relationships wise

Thrilled by the detective story unfolding with each episode, but past the middle of the story the quality of the script significantly deteriorated, both in terms of the crime story (improved a bit closer to the ending) and relationships wise it turned into a loose collection of hackneyed BL cliches.

Love for:
1) The detective and forensic multilayered part of the story. Focus on relatable and recognizable real-life problems of developing world: corruption of the people in power. These aspects outweighed for me any minor and major issues I have found with this production.

2) Acting of the supporting cast. Two leads being grown-up characters. I liked the Doctor's character in the first half of the show then unfortunately he lost any depth of the personality, it felt like the actor had no substance to deliver.

What was not my cup of tea:

I failed to feel any sympathy towards the leading tutor-mobster character from the beginning. He developed more dimensions closer to the ending. I haven't watched any dramas with these two leads before. But given what I perceived as a lack of any tension and the spark between them it was clear they are an established onscreen partnership, who are quite ok with the usual fan service and closer to the end both the script and their acting looked like that. Their first time love scene was acted very sensual and genuine though.

I guess this is how this industry works and I only have to respect that established screen couples are cast, but... couldn't help but dreamt the doctor was romantically involved with someone more ethically suitable like a journalist or a policeman (then it could be followed with a new forensic investigative series!) I love happy ends, happy ends are everything, but... it didn't feel a good ending for me. I prefer the doctor to stay single than saying "yes" to the person who stages an armed kidnapping as his proposal. Sick. The doctor has no self-respect for accepting such a treatment.

The most unimpressive part was when the tutor-mobster chains his beloved man in a place in the middle of nowhere because... he cares for him? Ok, in real life, returning in 24 hours he would find him dehydrated, in a pool of his own urea and feces, and it's in the best case scenario. The worst case, the first guy never returns from his meeting with adversaries, the second guy most likely dies. That's love and care for you. Dear Scriptwriters, you have done a lot of amazing, incredible job with this series, please make next time a more coherent story for the characters we are looking forward to value/understand/fall in love with.

A MUST TRY SERIES!!!!

I was a decade fan of Crime and Suspense Series specially in Korean Drama, and this is the first time I have watched a Thai Series with this genre. I was surprise that it has also a BL part. Just finished the whole series and I enjoyed it. The Writer and the Director did great job on this, the story twist and pacing of every episode was really great. The Identity of the Killer was remain a mystery and only revealed on the last episode which makes MOD more interesting. The BL part did not over power the Crime and suspense part. Actually, even without the BL part, it was already a masterpiece but without the BL part this will not turn into one of the most viewed and highest rating Thai drama of 2020. Since Manner of Death is the anticipating comeback series of my favorite BL couple Max & Tul, I must admit they never failed there fans. There Stunning Visuals, super hot love scenes, and acting were level up in this series. The Unexpected and unique but turned out to be a Romantic Marriage Proposal of Teacher Tan to Dr. Bun, will that's really how the Writer and Director ended MOD. I already expected a Happy Ending but I never expected to be this beautiful ending...

Things that I really want to see in a movies or series are: looks, chemistry, acting, and storyline.

LOOKS: Tan (Max Nattapol Diloknawarit) is really gorgeous and hot while Bun (Tul Pakorn Thanasrivanitchai) is sexy when he smiles.

CHEMISTRY: Still their chemistry is not fading. All of their movies together they really looks good.

ACTING: They are really good in their respective roles.

STORYLINE: This is an extraordinary BL series that I watched so far. It did not focus on love story but it has action, crime and it show's how some person with ranks take advantage on their powers. I really like the plotting of the story and its twist. To summarize the story its one of a kind that you will be hooked to watched the next episode. I really like also how did Tan proposed to Bun. It's so cute and very romantic.

A Rare Gem in the Ocean of Thai Drama

CONTAIN SPOILERS
"Why have I not watched this before?" I kept asking myself as I keep biting my nails and play episodes after episodes, binge watching the series in 2 days.

The plot, the premise, the storytelling, the characters, the acting, the dialogues - I am so happy to see that this drama , especially a BL which often flaunt soft and lovey-dovey themes, is tackling so mature a theme so articulately. Sex crimes, human trafficking and drug violence? A plot and character driven theme with on point storytelling? I'm in!

First thing. The plot. From the first forensic test they performed is clear that the production team did their research. The author of the novel is a doctor so I was content that we will get to see some proper real life (almost) dealing of forensic job here. I was not disappointed.

I will give this drama the title of a true crime investigative drama, keeping it real. They notion that 'after a crime happens, everyone is the suspect' was kept throughout the series. Even the main characters are not above the suspicion. Every episode ends with a perfect cliffhanger.
I loved the style of the storytelling as well. Instead of a linear flow of one incident after another, the plot takes liberties to going back and forth in flashbacks and days before of one incident. To some, it may be repetitive, but for me who is too invested in the flow of the story, loved watching it to search for the answers.

The actors, all of them, have done an amazing job. However, I will give kudos to Inspector M and Captain Gun for their respective acting, which was complete opposite of what I thought at first.

The chemistry between the two main characters, the main couple, is undeniably gorgeous; each glance, smirk, tease, heated looks, stares, touches, squints :muah: chef's kiss.

Their emotion for each other is unbridled yet also untrusted, which is very logical and true to the theme of 'everyone is a suspect', and perfectly portrayed with the relation to their respective characters. Dr Bun does not know much about Tan. Tan lies to Dr Bun. They are attracted to each other but also don't fully trust each other (at first). They kiss each other, share sweet moments and then point guns at each other. I was like yes, both of you go for it, kiss each other and then kill each other. Do it.

I should mention, yet again, the natural fluency of the way the main casts tackle intimate scenes. It never looks forced, like they are acting for acting's sake. It's simply like the two people are in love and making love to each other. Kudos to the actors who are also strong and vocal allies of LGBTQIAPN+ community.

There are discussions of abortion but again, kudos that they spoke about it as a choice of an individual rather than an offense and exercised with a look of contempt.

The ending was super sweet. I did not expect them to not kiss but the hugs and soft touches made the scene comfortable to say that the two characters were in perfect marital bliss. And no overt intimate gestures were needed to showcase their love for each other.

And now.

YES. There are plotholes. A hell lot of that.

1. Why Tan's home has the main entrance opened as they they sit down for dinner? Do they not know that there is danger?

2. I don't think that illegal abortion centres perform the abortions while the operation theatre door is partially opened and police, even though may have warrant, can barge into one surgery room where a patient is under the process.

3. As much as I loved the intimate scenes, once again brilliant, some of them felt a bit ill-timed. Dr Bun and Tan broke into Inspector's car, stole a laptop, brought it to their home and then have sex on the sofa? I was like wait what? Now? Idk men, I would probably want to see what was in the laptop, especially as danger is looming over.

4. The journalist is snooping around dangerous areas alone and without any precautions for self-defense?

Some tropes are very familiar and I knew what is in the store for some characters, like the journalist and Pued from like episode number 2.
There are a few more things but those are just me nitpicking over smaller details.

Also, the guy who hacked the SD card and phone and helped share the videos stored on Jane's cloud drive deserves a special applause. If not for him, both the doctor and his beau would be dead.

The ending although unprecedented was not completely unexpected. But still, watching it play before my eyes broke my heart for Jane.

The show is also a testament that you need to be vigilant against people and how they treat you, even if they are someone you love because people change, yes, even the ones you love can change in future. Caution can be your best friend. It also shows how pressure from corrupted authority can make one bow down before the crime even when they know what is wrong and what is right (Inspector M, you were awesome as you decide to not bow down and break that chain of injustice).

All in all, this is a fabulous drama of Thai entertainment and drama industry and not just BL. Please watch and give it more love. I hope to see more plot and characters driven stories in future.

I got to know from social media that Dr Bun's actor Tul has left acting to pursue his other passion and Tan's actor Max has had health issues. Even though it makes me sad that we may not see them together in any series again, I wish them prosperity in their respective lives and thank them for this series. Be happy both of you.

This was so good.

I honestly wasn't expecting to like this series as much as I did, just because of the nature of the plot. But I ended up loving it and it will likely stay in my top 5 for a long time.

The story was well written and had my interest from start to finish. It was a long road to find out who could be trusted in the end but it was worth it. There was intrigue and just enough BL within every episode to feel like it was all moving along. I can't recall a moment where I thought "this scene was unnecessary" or "I guess this was filmed as filler to make the time quota." Everything had purpose and left the audience questioning things which is the sign of fantastic writing.

I want a series with Inspector M... just putting it out there, Universe.

I love how the BL world is including mature storylines that don't focus on high school or University age relationships. I don't know if ML (Man-love) instead of BL is a thing, but I'm here for it.

everyone should watch this , short review

i loved this show so much ive watched it months ago but i wanted to review it. i had this in my list for months it had become one my favourite dramas in my top 3. personally i loved it i see the top reviews im like ok? but the plot was smthing else there were a lot of twists i dont wanna go into depth and spoil it for you but i did like how even i didnt guess who was it was normally my problems with good plots is tht sometimes the villains can be predicted at the beginning and for this i had zero clue. the story-line is really thought out to the point when i was watching the series i forgot it was bl and was reminded when they started kissing. the bl aspect too is well thought out and it was never awkwardly put in. as for the acting its maxtul u cannot go wrong with them , they are outstanding when acting and their chemistry is just smthing else. as for the other actors i loved them too they did great. the music was good too no complaint from me. i cant think of anything that made me dislike this tbh.
rewatch value: yup 10/10 i already rewatched this about a week ago and still had the same feelings from watching it the first time i find it really hard to rewatch shows that ive already seen but this made it into the list.
overall its a good drama tht keeps u hooked in every episode and i recommend it to everyone
