When rumors of a secret armory that was left behind by Rong Xuan, who was killed by the Five Lakes Alliance and other heroes 20 years ago in Mount Qingya, start to resurface through a nursery rhyme, the balance of the martial world starts to shift as people begin their hunt for the treasure.
Prince Jin of the North secretly trains a group of assassins under the Window of Heaven to stage a revolt, killing off any official who knows its whereabouts.
Zhou Zi Shu, the leader of the Window of Heaven and the last remaining survivior of the Four Seasons Manor, driven by guilt and anger at having been indirectly responsible for the death of his loved ones, goes through self torture to insert the seven nails of torment into his body in order to leave the organisation. The nails of torment would eventually make him lose his senses and lead to death within three years. He disguises himself as a beggar to prevent Prince Jin's spies from tracing him as he suspects that Prince Jin would not let him off easily.
In Mount Qingya, the Hanging Ghost of the Ghost Valley commits treason, betraying his chief and stealing a piece of the Glazed Armor. Enraged, the Chief asks all the ghosts of the valley to kill the traitor , promising the position as the Head of the Ten Devils to whoever who brings back the armor.
Three months later, still disguised as a beggar, Zhou Zi Shu catches the eye of the Young Master of Mirror Lake Sect, Zhang Cheng Ling, who takes a pity on his plight and offers him a few coins.
Zi Shu's optimistic nature attracts the attention of Gu Xiang, a young girl, and her master Wen Ke Xing. Xiang offers Zi Shu some wine, however, his nonchalant attitude and disdain for money angers her and she feels that he tricked her into giving it to him. A fight breaks out between the two of them and she makes an attempt to whip him with her rope, but is stopped by Wen Ke Xing.

Word of Honor Episode 1 Reactions
Starting this show was a bit of a whim because I've heard so many stories about how good it is. I’m going in completely blind, with no idea what to expect, other than it being a story about a deep bond between two men in the martial arts world. 🙂
The concept of the "Seven Nails" seems like an interesting plot driver. So far, I have no real clue what’s happening—except that the main guy wants to die and has chosen a slow, painful way to do it. I don't quite understand his reasons for this particular choice yet, though I suspect it might be related to the death of his younger brother. 🤔😔
I also discovered that this was apparently Zhou Ye's first role! I’ve only seen her as Yanhui in Back From the Brink, and comparing the two, this character seems somewhat similar—lots of energy and personality. 😏
After just one episode I still know very little, but it is definitely interesting enough to keep me watching! 😏

Zhou Zi Shu is my favourite hero, love him forever. He catch my eyes once he attend on the screen. He is gentle, powerful and beautiful, with stars in his eyes when he smiles to his junior martial brother.

Haven't seen a real wuxia series for like a decade. This Zhou feels so right, his shine eyes and beautiful face is just what I expected for a Chinese jianghu story.

The immediate introduction of a countdown timer of "three years to live" is straightforward but effective. I'm definitely looking forward to exploring this fantasy world and finding out how Zhou Zishu is going to overcome his imminent death. But rarely have I been so distracted by a soundtrack of a show. From the inappropriate "battle music" in the first fight scene on the roof, to cheesy interposition of a lyric song into the scene where Zishu leaves the palace and begins life in a hut... I don't know why but it really bothers me.

I have to say that I am very impressed. The first episode hit all the right notes: good acting, good music, good story, good fights, etc. Also, that lingering look between Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing, perfect! I was hooked right away and I can already tell that I am going to really enjoy this series. I think I am even going to reread the novel as soon as I finish watching the series.
