While most Boy's Love series tend to ignore the sexual orientation of the characters, by using the "I am not gay, I am just in love with you". But in the Gameboys and Gaya Sa Pelikula (also known as Like in the Movie), one of the male lead is proudly gay and the other one is going through the journey of self-acceptance. The series doesn't shy away from sexual attraction towards person of same-sex. The coming out and discussion of the sexual orientation with family focuses on the individual's identity as a gay person, as opposed to most BLs, which focuses on my son or brother's lover is gay.

If you were drawn into the story by the love between an openly gay guy and a guy who is yet to accept himself, you might enjoy this other story. Its optimistic realism is refreshing, where the family member(s) who initially rejected lead character, grow more understanding and accepting, and seek forgiveness for their homophobia.

If you enjoyed the mutual attraction in this series, and if you are tired of the seme (pursuer) and uke (pursued) dynamics in Boy's Love (BL) genre, you would enjoy my recommendation. Unlike most of the BLs, these shows are respectful of consent.

They are both Pinoy BL series, and both deal with real problems people of the LGBTQ+ community face in a realistic way.

Even though "Like in the Movies" and "Theory of Love" were made in different countries, both series have a Lead character that is a Movie buff.

Another BL for those looking for a romance that includes gay characters not made for straight women. Shares similar comedy-aspects definitely a good watch if you like GSP :)

"Like in the Movies" and "Hello Stranger" are similar, not just because both BL series are from the Philippines but because it involves University Students and two strangers falling for each other despite their differences.

1. Both are high quality BL dramas with great storyline which is very close to real life and relatable to LBGTQ+.
2. Main actors in both series are super hot.
3. One of the two main leads in both dramas is open and the other one is struggling to know himself and be brave.
4. After you have watched it, you might find it difficult to move on.
5. You will never get bored of rewatch.

They are both amazing LGBTQ+ stories. Both are widely different in terms of story (except for two men falling in love), but they are both worth watching. They deal with LGBTQ+ struggle and acceptance in their own ways.

Slow burn romance focused mainly on the two leads sharing a room/house together with great chemistry between the actors. For a lockdown series they dont encorporate video-video calls since theyre physically in contact together. They also have similar vibes and atmosphere. Very cinematic.
