Son is for sure the star of this over all great series. Thank-you Viki.
Son's infectious smile is enough to make this a great series. However this is a a very good series and worth while story with very good messages. Filming and scripting is also top notch. Though it doesn't seem like a set up for season 2. I do hope to see Son and Kim in another series. A full series. For a short series this... Updated: there is a Season2. I hope it is as good as this one. I'm not sure reading the epilogues. I'm nervous.

Korean BL's....We Need To Talk. This Was A Joy

I continue to have a bone to pick with Korean BL's or LGBTQ content. IT'S NOT LONG ENOUGH!!! Why dude, why you gotta dangle this stuff in front of our faces for literally 15 minute episodes!? That's not okay and it needs to change. These series are worth it! However, a slight solution to this is that they also released it in film version. Which is 2 hours long all together, so it actually works better as the film! Totally recommend watching it that way instead of being broken up.

Moving on. This didn't feel cheaply done at all. Sometimes you can tell BL's or lgbtq stories aren't done with much of a budget. This was shot nicely and has a lot of scenic shots of Seoul. The couple we get is a case of opposites attract, which is funny to watch and interesting. I liked their back and forth a lot! We see them start to bond more, where Ji Woo even starts to get protective over Seo Joon. I find it funny too that both these actors were in "Tale of the Nine Tailed", one as a supporting role and the other occasional cameo.

I liked seeing Seo Joon's struggle with losing fame. You can tell he's kinda lost, but still trying to keep up the luxurious happy persona. I wish we would've gotten even more of that to be fleshed out, because you can go so far with that alone. We got some of the drawbacks on screen of fame, but not enough! I also appreciated his characters confidence in himself. There's no question whom he's attracted to and he's not afraid of showing it. Though he will protect Ji Woo's privacy if needed, which I also appreciated seeing. Ji Woo was an interesting character. He's actually quite cruel with his words at certain parts of this series/film. To where you really feel bad for Seo Joon! However, he does it because he's so walled up emotionally and used to being alone. Literally doesn't know how to communicate with people very well, its totally understandable and he grows so much! Seeing him at the end, I felt so proud of him and happy that he finally had things to smile about in his life.

The whole plot with the controversy (like I briefly mentioned) was so Korea. Meaning that Korea specifically tends to take controversies (big or small) and run with them, potentially ruining reputations. It was done really well and when you find out the cafe owner was also a betrayer, it hurts! The price of fame is very large. I liked watching it all play out. Finally, hello last episode/end scene chemistry! Like dang lol but I wish it wasn't held off until literally the last part of this and especially during the last like 5 minutes! That whole couple exchange was so good and I was holding my breath. I think that might be the most I've seen from a Korean drama series thus far, let alone a BL concerning real sexual intimacy ("You Make Me Dance" was another one that showed more). Even if it was just some rolling around and flirtatious discussion about things. I know this probably won't get another season...but please give it another season/film! XD

one of the best goddamn romances to exist.

to be honest, i still don't think i can quite put a finger on why exactly to my star hits so different, but it really does. there's something about how lovingly the show is shot, about how irreversibly in love jiwoo and seojoon are, and about how soft they are with every word and every touch.
there's something about the fact that when these characters are in pain, you really come to love them enough to cry right alongside with them, and when they're happy, you find yourself kicking your goddamn blankets in happiness and smiling till your cheeks hurt.
at the end of the day, i think the best way to put it is this: to my star is a show that will make you fall into it so effortlessly that you won't even realize how deeply you've fallen into love with these characters and their story until it's too late to back out.
(also, just as a sidenote: i fucking ADORE that film effect they've given this season so freaking much!!! it really brings out a sentimental sorta vibe that matches perfectly with the story and gives it a gorgeous timeless look. the visuals are just taken to the next level this time 'round <3)
tl;dr? GO WATCH THE SHOW OH MY GOD I SWEAR YOU WON'T REGRET IT

A beautiful love story

Just finished ep3 and again another perfect 10 for Korean b/L. They don't overdue it and have great storyline and what a amazing cast they had A+. It was about an actor seo Joon that was accused of fighting someone and this bought negative attention to him. So he goes to the ceo rental and meets ji woo who is a chef, and accidentally met him earlier. So as they get to know each other feeling start to bloom for them. Seo Joon finds who really was part of the fight and clears his name, but at the same time Hyung ki owner of restaurant gets ahold of a picture of them kissing he show ji woo who then moves out. Seo Joon learns that Hyung family is in need of money and so blackmail him for 100million won($90,000 US) and so seo Joon pays him in front of ji woo. They sort of fight over that, there feeling and relationship, so seo Joon leaves and Ji woo gets upset and then he comes back and agree to be together. A beautiful story

Simply Beautiful and Captivating!

Extremely beautiful and compelling!! Simple plotline yet portrayed so well! The chemistry between the leads felt so connected and real! Everything was produced extremely well. The cinematography and visuals were top notch, the locations were enthralling! The pacing of the show was perfect, never felt it was stretched or rushed, considering the tight time frame it was packed in.
The OST are gonna be on my loop for a long time in my playlist, especially the opening track. The show indeed raised bars! The show is a must watch not just for a BL but as a regular show well! ❤️❤️

i genuinely think this was on of the best kdrama bl’s i’ve ever watched. especially compared to the ones that have been coming out recently. the story didn’t feel rushed and felt natural. the dynamic of their made so much sense. this is one of those dramas where YOU will have to put two and two together and the show won’t do it for you. i’m not all that surprised that the characters backstories weren’t really talked about in depth but there’s not much you can expect from 9 15 minute long episodes. if the show had longer episodes of we would’ve known more about the characters backstories but it’s not so i feel like what was handed to us helped us understand what was happening. i hope they start making more korean bls like this with a good and interesting story that isn’t forced!!!

No complains, I loved it

Korea, you're amazing. Genuinely the best BL I've ever watched. I don't know if that says I've been watching crap BLs recently, or that this was just an amazing show. While the plot could be seen as expected and done before, I still loved to see the character development. I loved it so much that I've already rewatched it lol. The main actors chemistry was through the roof and they portrayed their characters well. Lots of fluff

It can be watched with espanol, english, chinese, japanese, indonesian, malay, and vietnamese subtitles on Dailymotion

Sweet, beautiful, yet a bit confusing (at least for me)

This would be a dual language review - Inglish (Indonesian & English) lol

You should definitely watch this!!

Pantesan gue merasa nggak asing sama mood dan vibes-nya To My Star ini. Ternyata director-nya sama dong kayak Where Your Eyes Linger -- my favorite Korean BL web series. Well, I guess this adds to the list.

-- STORY --
Typical Korean enemies to lovers plot. One is cheerful, playful and spontaneous while the other one is strict and more tsundere (haha). Ceritanya simpel banget, refreshing, fun and sweet (in a good way). Walaupun durasinya pendek, tapi asli deh nggak kerasa kecepetan atau diburu-buruin. Gue nggak merasa terlalu lambat juga. Pokoknya, pas banget. The pace is just well-thought and well-written.

Progress hubungan main couple terlihat sekali. Their relationship was gradually progressing. From strangers, friends, then finally lovers. Plus, chemistry Kang-min (Ji-woo) & Woo-hyun (Seo-jun) natural banget. Sebagian besar clue kecil di awal episode yang bikin gue bertanya-tanya, dijelasin di akhir.

Pengambilan gambarnya juga MMH cakep bener.

-- ACTING/CHARACTERS --
Hm, nggak main-main deh. How they portrayed their own characters is just amazing. And how they displayed their characters' emotions is quite impressive. I mean, I can really saw when Hyung-ki (played by Jae-hyun) looked pissed, nervous, and frustrated.

Tapi, yang paling membekas bagi gue adalah acting koplaknya Jae-yeong (Pil-hyun), micro-expressions-nya Kang-min, & how convincing and beautiful Woo-hyun's acting is. For real tho, every little expressions was well-executed--the shyness, the sadness, the angst, the annoyance, everything. OH! Except one thing, sorry. I was a bit turned off when Ji-woo's crying (ep. 8 i think). Hm, menurut gue kurang meyakinkan aja ekspresinya. Kecuali itu, acting Kang-min oke.

Talk about Kang-min and Woo-hyun's chemistry. They really comfortable with each other. No awkwardness at all. No cringey act also. Even their little interactions made me smile like an idiot. It's just *chef's kiss*.

-- WHAT MADE ME CONFUSED --

Apart from every great things that i love about this web series, are some things that don't sit right with me. Here are a few things I'm wondering:

1. What's with Ji-woo's expression when the customer lady mentioned study-in-Italy thing? Uncomfortable? Jealous? Why, tho?
2. The same thing happened when the customer lady, Seo-jun, and Hyung-ki were talking about Seo-jun's parents and Italy (again). Both Seo-jun and Hyung-ki glanced at Ji-woo. And Ji-woo looked away. What's up with that? Sad? Why?
3. How did the USA reporter figure out what was Hyung-ki about to do with the photo? Are they close? Old friends? What? Maybe he told her when he took her camera? I don't know.
4. What place did Ji-woo visit after he left the house after threatened by Hyung-ki? A restaurant? A house? Whose house?

Yeah, I don't know. Maybe I am the one who didn't pay attention while watching this.

Overall, I really really enjoyed To My Star. I'm glad they showed how brave Seo-jun with his feelings. And how the couple looks confident about their feelings as if nobody's opinion matters. Also, the kissing scene at the end was beautiful and sweet. It was not just a peck, but it's rather a deep one.

I am meeting the director Hwang Da-Seul for the second time in a short time (the first time was the series Where Your Eyes Linger) and she did not disappoint me again. A beautiful, magical appetizer among BL series will captivate the viewer right from the first episode. It's just that everything is "done" completely differently than the usual scheme. The characters are perfectly written and even better acted, especially the excellent acting performance of the two main representatives in civilian age of 31 and 22 years stands out.

Actor Kang Seo Joon is in trouble because he beat up his best friend, also an actor, in one of the bars. But in reality it was different and Kang doesn't remember much because he was drunk, only his friend got into a fight with a bar guest and blamed it on Kang to hurt him in public opinion and climb the popularity ladder ahead of him. The owner of the agency Kim Pil Hyun, who represents Kang, has to quickly "clean up" him from his luxury apartment to one of his rental houses in the suburbs of Seoul due to intrusive journalists for a while, and pushes him to the young tenant, an introverted, modest and order-loving chef from a bistro Han Ji Woo, who is waiting for a roommate so he doesn't have to pay such a high rent himself.

It's rare for me to look at how much is left until the end, because I wish there were many more episodes ahead of me (I have the opposite tendency with most other BL series). No unnecessary detours and running the story into curls that only delay and lead nowhere, an excellent contrast of the silent and wall-building Han and the chatty Kang with an often magical smile, who always says what he thinks and most importantly - these two beings are hit by the arrow of the most beautiful feeling in the world, what anyone and anywhere could wish for. How will they deal with it when the circumstances of each of them are completely different and public opinion in South Korea is not in favor of such relationships, especially when one of them is a famous actor?

When Two Worlds Collide

This is one of those shows that have a very feel-good atmosphere - from the chemistry, to the character interactions, to the music and overall story.
My only issue lies with several stems of previous shows in that the length is just too short. Some of the conflicts are either rushed or completely forgotten about. Again, as I and many others have stated, there needs to be a change in the length of these series. Eight/nine episode dramas, ten-to-twelve minute long episodes are just never enough.
With that out of the way, the acting and chemistry are some of the strongest I've seen in a show, and that's saying a lot. If you enjoy really soft intimate scenes, To My Star has it all and you will be surprised how they lead it all up to the end.
The romance, again, is one of the strongest. Really feel-good interactions that, despite the short length, are well worth watching. Regardless of their opposite professions, there are wonderful surprises.
The dialogue, again, is a nice touch. There may or may not be scenes that are cheesy, corny, cringy, etc. but that's up for you to decide. I for one enjoyed them.
Cinematography is another great plus. There's a lot of warmth put into the scenes. And hard work. So really well done!
The music compliments every scene, whether serious or soft.
All in all, really enjoyable to watch.
