Five Stars

This show is still a 10/10 for me.Basic 'spoilery' summary of episode 3: Teh and Jai kiss while Oh-Aew witnesses it. If only it were that simple.1. TehIt shows how the same touch can happen to you from multiple people and how it can feel different for everybody and different everytime. The first scene where the actress (Dream), does the touch workshop exercise with Teh, he is completely stiff. His body is rigid and he looks like he's in a place he doesn't want to be. The second time Teh is touched intimately is when he has sex with Oh-Aew in what seems to be quite a long time. The third time he's touched intimately it's when he repeats the workshop exercise with Jai and they end up kissing. The same motions from different people, a stranger, a lover, a friend yet none of them feels as they should be. He shouldn't be so rigid with just a colleague, she's just a stranger after all; he shouldn't be so far from Oh-Aew and close just because he thinks it'll help him; he shouldn't want to be so close to Jai; but that's the beauty of it. This is reality. Things happen. While sitting in the audience, all of us look at the same thing in a different light and it is mainly a case of conditioned response. Having sex with Oh-Aew opens something inside Teh. The experiences we've been through make us interpret the same thing differently. Not having chemistry with Dream during the rehearsals doesn't make Teh a bad actor. He's just getting there, starting to discover what he can do, trying to be better at what he can't. Similarly, kissing Jai doesn't make him a bad person. He's discovering new feelings and trying to figure out what to do with them, because feelings unlike acting are much more complex and have indecipherable layers. It's what one does after figuring out those feelings that make a person who they are. Does he start cheating on Oh-Aew? Does he take a break and restart? The answer is that we don't know. We don't know what Teh will do. This isn't a predictable drama and Teh isn't a predictable people (most people aren't). I have to give it to this show. Most series are predictable: get together, break up, but the main leads will end up together anyway. This show is the first one where I don't know what the ending will be, it has presented is with such a vast range of possibilities.Even if Teh and Oh-Aew end up together, the path they take will be interesting to watch (to say the least). 2. Oh-AewEverybody seems to have connected the dots for Teh; that just like he left Tarn, he's about to leave Oh-Aew.But I personally thought that episode 3 was a parallel about how Teh broke down after seeing Oh-Aew dating Bas. We're going to see how Oh-Aew deals with what he saw. Will he be confrontational about it? Will he try to keep a watch on them and wait for something more to happen before he acts on it? Will he try to overlook it and try to glue together his relationship as long as he can?Again, as I said about Teh, we simply don't know how Oh-Aew will act.4. JaiHe is so much more than an intriguing side character. First of I want to say that even though Jai told Teh that he wasn't sleeping with Ms. May for grades, I don't really believe him. His manner was secretive, not confidential while he told about it to Teh, as in he's hiding something.Does that make him a bad person? I would say yes. If you've been to university, you may have encountered such individuals who to resort to such techniques. Does it make him a completely bad person? No, everyone is capable of growth. Does it make him a bad director? Definitely not. Judging from the way he interacts with the crew, it's evident that he's not a bad director. He pays attention to details, he reads through logbooks, he's considerate when he has to be. A clear example is how Teh interacts with him. At first Teh was enamoured by Top but Jai was the one who told him to work backstage. Who opened up options for him. I'd say it's really natural for Teh to feel those signals from him. What stood out to me most about Jai was his dedication and secondly his insecurity. He tells Teh that he broke up with James because he was afraid how long they were going to stay together. He's afraid his portfolio isn't good enough for the New York university, which is probably why he's sleeping with Ms. May.As to his relationship with May, I don't think i have enough info to classify it as a purely sex for benefits relationship, it might be romantic too. All my signals point otherwise but I've seen an actual student marry her professor so there's that ;)5. StorytellingI've dedicated entire paragraphs to each character showing how their characters have been developed and all that happens because of how masterfully the story has been told, accompanied by splendid soundtrack of course.(i) SOUND EFFECT: The sound effects of IPYTM don't sound like normal sound dumps in most dramas. Where the OST is just dumped during long agonising moments of 'romantic' eye contact, or during the kiss scenes–no, the tracks have been perfectly timed. There are three particular beats in the OST which have never stuck out to me before but at the moment when Jai tells Teh to recreate his first memory with Oh-Aew (read: sleep with Oh-Aew again), I could feel the weight of those three notes and it was all so tragic (I don't think I'm making sense anymore).(ii) TIME SKIP: If you've been keeping up with the news on ipytm since March, then you might know that Nadao had announced that each episode will be dealing with a year of their lives at the university. Needless to say, this worried me A LOT. Time slips/jumps always feel like meaningless plot devices but I'm just beginning to understand that it's more about how you use it. In IPYTM, each year hasn't been summed up in one episode, instead key incidents from each year have been woven together to tell the story.(iii) AESTHETICS: Aesthetics aren't about how much scenery you can clump into an episode–the colours matter. I never knew there were so many shades of blue (I sound like I'm talking about my lover's eyes XD) The drama club room where Teh and the other's practice have a light brown shade to them: Teh's shirt, the close-ups of Jai's face all meld together but Oh-Aew's bright pink and red don't. The floating in water redux scene is sea blue but this time it's artificial and lonely unlike the waves of Phuket. The Bangkok skyline is navy night, not black. I can't help noticing all this about IPYTM.(iv) PARALLELS (with itsay)~ a) In ipytm, Oh-Aew's friends who start dating each other, sit comfortably in each other's presence, touching knees. When Jai and Teh's knees touch, Teh becomes hyperaware of it, conveying a crush.e) DIALOGUE‘Ah. So you did it for work again.’Why do these simple sentences hurt so much. When Jai takes Teh to watch his favorite mime show and later reveals his story with James, he explains it saying that it's to increase Teh's acting ability. This hurts Teh a lot obviously. In the ending scene when they kiss, Teh feels that there's passion but Jai simply breaks away and starts packing to leave as if it's completely normal, leaving Teh to wonder whether he did it for work again. The conversation is so natural, especially with Oh-Aew and his friends.[I swear I thought of more while watching the drama :/ ](v) ACTINGI was not expecting to see that classic 'Teh puppy face' again. Teh does this thing where his mouth is halfway to a pout and his simple looks especially 'poke-able' and his eyes are incredibly soft–he looks vulnerable. Billion captured it perfectly. Red hair Oh-Aew still has the swag that Phuket Oh-Aew had except it seems that the Bangkok lifestyle has been more conducive to letting him explore himself. Thanks to P’Meen's direction, we can see all these actors at their best, bringing the characters to life. Even the actress (Dream), a side character, had great facial expressions.IPYTM (like itsay), is not a sci-fi or fantasy or historical production. Its a largely ‘feeling based’ romance, as in the emotions it conveys to the audience are very important. To convey sadness, an actor doesn't just have to be good at crying, the build up to that emotional precipice has to be guided well and the director, scriptwriters and everyone working backstage have done that.I hope I've managed to convey and justify why this is a 10/10 for me.Waiting for episode 4 now. In the episode 3 mv there's a line which bothers me a lot: “People in the mirror may be closer than you think”What does that mean? That Teh and Jai (testing their backs against the mirror together) are closer than they think? That Teh, even though he feels lost, is closer to himself than he think (he looks into the mirror for quite sometime). It's all very mysterious and I love it.

Trouble heart.

I read most of the comments and there is to many angry words here. Is it because of the story and what the characters are doing? YES! This is how you know the actors are doing such a great job!A good story with good actors will move your emotions so easily that it will feel like a roller coaster. The 3rd episode did this to me as well to everyone. We need to remember that Teh is just a bitch…lol. Ok, I’m still mad because I just finished seeing the 3rd episode. But besides this, you really need to think about Teh personality and how he fights against new experiences. He wants to freeze time and not change in order to feel safe. If you recall, on the 2nd episode, he admitted that he feels that everyone is moving forward and on todays episode (3rd) he even said that Oh-aew doesn’t have time for him since he is busy. So, Teh went back to his old self and did what he knows what to do, be an ass. Same thing happened on the 1st season with his X. He didn’t want to admit his fillings for Oh-aew so he was just an ass. What I can predict is; Oh-aew is going to break it off on the 4th episode and on the 5th episode, they will get back together. Why? Because that was the 1st plot of the 1st season. And I’m not mad about this. The truth of it all is; The story with the acting is so relatable to many. Some or most of the people here are or have been in college, and if you were or are, hopefully you are experimenting and learning what makes you. To learn what we truly like and who we like is part of an agonizing journey that we all must and will take. Falling in love with the wrong person, falling in love more than once, falling in love with your X, and falling in love with two or more at the same time is part of life. I really liked the story because in a certain way, it may help others to navigate through these rough oceans.

Im mad!

This episode pissed me off. I am still a little confused though, i couldn't tell whether or not the kiss was because Teh wanted to, or it was for the play. I was fairly aggravated with this episode, but I still thought it was good. The kiss scene between Teh and Oh-Aew was passionate and sweet. I can't wait for the next episode!

Jai knows what's up

I think Jai knows that Teh is catching feelings for him/attracted to him. He knows because he caught Teh staring at him when they were hiding from the security guard in the park. He knew and he brought the plum wine to test the waters. He knew Teh doesn't drink but he brought the plum wine anyway? He knew Teh would get "liquid courage" and let his guard down. I also think he might have heard or seen Oh Aew at the door, that's why he played it off as a "rehearsal". I don't think he is doing it maliciously. He seems to consider Teh a friend and is giving him advice etc. but he might be attracted to Teh as well... (It's a repeat of Jai and James: Student-fan of director falling for him)

I'M MAAAADDDD BIIITCH

EP2: *Teh deciding to be more open about his feelings. EP3: *Teh doing the complete opposite of EP2. Junior Year - 3 years together Let me start with Oh-aew ruveal of his hairdoo and fashion, yasssss queeen... I'm here for it. do your thang ms thang. Now, Teh, aaaahhhh Teeeh, sooo relatable, feeling the distance between them growing and growing. Oh-aew trying to keep the relationship together. Teh's emotional "I don't remember the first time we had sex", I was in tears y'all ?. Oh-aew's "I have a boyfriend" moment when he was asked for his IG. But Oh-aew working on the ad, that's a good ass boyfriend.- Oh-aew's friends- to be honest, I don't feel the whole connection between the audience and them BECAUSE we're jumping so fast and we don't get to see them get closer to each other ( but we can imagine it ) . NOT TEH ON THE FLOOR TRYING TO DUCKWALK HIS WAY OUT OF THAT AWKWARD JAI-MAY SCENE. I was LMAO ?But biiiishhhh, TF was Teh doing at the play though, and outside that building staring at Jai???? I would have smacked him in the head ?- BY THE WAY I loved Jai's emotional and raw moment 10/10 - and the sex advice ahhh I diiied gorl. But the eeeennnddd,, ooouuu that ending. SOOOO Jai was kinda cool I guess, but Teh... Oh-aew cut his balls and dick while listening to Olivia Rodrigo's 'happier' and make a TikTok out of it. Oh-aew opening the door and maybe, HOPEFULLY listening in- I feel for them both... I truly do, and this episode was sooo good.PS: Is it just me or most of the scenes are focused on Teh, and his side? I need more of Oh-aew too, hopefully in the next episodes? 9.5/10

Acting? yes, Acting

b1usdl03's review is the only reasonable one. People, this is only episode 3, there are two more episodes to come. This is a story. Jumping to conclusions at this point (as we are pretty sure Oh-aow will do) is inappropriate. "Cheating"? give me a break! This episode is excellent, as are all the previous ones.

Dissapointed with the plot

The team literally make Teh into tha villain character. They way he wants it, he is not confused. He knows he wants it. And this supposed to be a story of Teh and Oh aew, not Teh amd seniors. It is just feels not the same anymore. The meaning behind the scenes, coconut scene, Chinese language, back itch, all of it is not there. IPYTM is like another series, and not continuation of ITSAY. I don't know what went wrong, but I just feel IPYTM is not coming-of-age theme anymore, it becomes typical bl series, where they dont have enough idea on how to make it interesting. Since watching Ep 1, kinda disappointed, but I cant take it after Ep 3. Maybe I will not rent for another 2 episodes.

This is painful

We get to see Oh aew change even more while Teh stays relatively the same. This is the episode that shows the couple drift away and it is so painful to watch. Teh does not deserve Oh at this point and I am excited to see what is to come. WTFFF

Reviravoltas

Acting?..update

This will not be as much of a review but more an observation or perhaps a character analysis. Teh is pursuing his dream to be an actor, it is his passion. He is struggling though with a upcoming love scene in a play written by his mentor. Jai believes in Teh, he just needs Teh to believe in himself, and to that end, he needed Teh to trust him which is why he opened up about his personal life to him. The "Kiss" was to illicit a reaction from Teh that would be convincing to an audience (which judging from the ratings of the episode) was very convincing. How does an actor learn to "act" out convincingly in a love scene? How does he learn to separate the "real" from the "act"? This is what this episode was building up to. Granted, Jai was taken aback by the intensity of Teh's reaction to his kiss, but as a new actor I think that Teh has yet to learn how to "act" without any real passion. This will come in time the more experience he has. If I fault the episode it would be for the cliche Oh-awe observing the "kiss" in the doorway. This of course will cause all kinds of issues for the next episode. Put yourself in Teh's position, he loves Oh-awe, this causes him to hold back. Jai showed him that he could be passionate with someone as an actor so as to convince an audience (which he did, Oh-awe) but still be true to the one you love. I find some of the reaction to this episode curious considering how many viewers have praised this and ITSAY for being so "true to life" and "real" as opposed to the myriad of series which are cliche/trope ridden. However it seems that to be "real" and "true to life" is fine so long as one does not upset the cart with "real" and "true to life" emotions such as jealousy, temptation, self-doubt, mistrust, lust and a lack of communication. I commend this episode for stirring the pot which I suspect was the director's intention from the onset. I am sure that it will garner a lot of attention on social media, one must remember though that if we are to accept that if "IPYTM" is "real" and "true to life" it is because the protagonists are human and as such will screw up and make a number of mistakes along the way. Perhaps some viewers should consider this before they put this series (and especially this episode) on a pedestal.

Update............................................................

The social media reactions to this episode are priceless! With most being of the opinion that Teh's character has been ruined, almost as if it was written that way just to piss you off! People, it's just a dramatic series which shows the difficulties and problems which can arise in any relationship. Communication is the key, but how many twenty somethings understand that with everything else they have to go through with college life. Nadao has done an excellent job in portraying a very real depiction of what can happen when two people while still in love can drift apart due to a lack of communication. Billkin turned in a 'tour de force' performance so as to rile up so many viewers to loath his character. Any actor who, with the right direction, can take a beloved character and make him hated and despised by so many so quickly deserves high praise. How will this play out? There are two more episodes, so perhaps it might be best wait it out till the end before it is given a two thumbs up or a two thumbs down. Remember it is best not to judge when you don't know all the facts. Looking forward to Episodes 4 & 5.

Maybethis is their way ofbreaking up Teh and Ohew. This isnow just an ordinary bl....the magic is gone. But I’m sure they will make a lot of money.
