Had potential till it didn't
I loved it so much and then it just went for too long and became far too political. Disappointing.Ost is great, got the good feels
ML is hot and just so good (loved him since Extraordinary You), he was adorable and so cuteeeee and sweet.. FL convincing as a male.. loved the reversed gender roles. I applaud them for writing this so either male or female works playing the roles!!
But why 20 EPs, you could have finished by 16 sigh...
I only finished because I really wanted to see the ML smile and be happy..

Great one and time worthy to watch
Seriously I don't like historical theme dramas but because of rowoon I watched 2 episodes and now I can't wait to see the next episodes they were really great also the OST was so soothing rowoon really did the great jon and also the casting of child actors representing the younger version were so on point that I kinda felt that these actors will definately be look alike of each other in near future. Time worthy please watch it. Also the storyline is great and kinda uniqoeyso Im hoping that it'll grew more interesting on future episodes so I'm really satisfied with the series and will follow it till the endWas this review helpful to you?
Had me so hooked!
I hate historical dramas and by hate, I mean I have never fully finished one but this show had me so hooked from the first episode. I have only watched 2 episodes so far but its so good. They did such a good job with the casting because the FL is so pretty and the ML is so fine. I will surely be watching all eps of this drama. Netflix is doing a really good job with the kdramas that they've been putting out lately. I really recommend that you give it a try. I really think I won't be disappointed with the show. Every aspect about it is so interesting & I also like how the side characters have a huge impact on the overall plot.Was this review helpful to you?
Characters have new story to tell that will spice your interest
Well, the actors are really interesting since they have new roles to portray far for previous acting. It's visual is admiring and chemistry even for young roles is indeed nice. The OST also complements and creates wholesome mood. The flow of the story is clear and logical which fascinates the viewer to watch more and look forward for next twist. I am a fan of SF9 Rowoon, so I will definitely support this since he is becoming good in acting with a great actress Park Eunbin. This is still a maybe for me, but concerned
So I’m going to be honest and withhold judgment for the moment and give it a chance to grow on me. I will admit the kids are charming. I’m so early in the series, I haven’t even seen them morph into adults yet. But, I will say that even though I know it’s a “fantasy” set an unnamed but concrete Joseon time period, the modern anachronisms are so jarring that they pull you out of the story. You end up thinking, “that’s impossible, never would have happened,” instead of just enjoying the show. And it’s only the first episodeWas this review helpful to you?
Animal Abuse Boycott
The King’s Affection openly abused the animals on set and they filmed it so you can see the abuse with your own eyes. The horse falling on its head in episode 1? How many takes did it take? “The King’s Affection” c’est l’histoire d’une fille qui n’aurait jamais dû vivre… et qui finit par devenir roi... 👑 Déjà rien que ça, ça claque 😭🔥Dès le début, j’ai été embarquée 💖, avec cette jumelle condamnée à mourir, sauvée in extremis et élevée dans l’ombre… son destin la ramène au palais, et là, retournement cruel, tout bascule. Elle doit cacher son identité, naviguer entre intrigues de cour, responsabilités écrasantes et une romance interdite qui la déchire de l’intérieur 😭💘. J’étais scotchée devant l’écran, incapable de décrocher... Les montagnes russes émotionnelles étaient au rendez-vous, et j’avais qu’une envie, voir comment elle allait s’en sortir 💪🏻✨
Comme on est dans un sageuk, forcément… mariage, descendance, héritage du trône... les enjeux étaient énormes 😅. Dès les premiers épisodes, je me posais mille questions, et l’attente du dénouement final m’a tenue en haleine. Happy ending ou pas ?!? 👀
Mais ce qui rend le drama vraiment captivant, ce sont ses personnages 😍. Lee Hwi (alias Dam-i) est juste incroyable, elle est forte, subtile, vulnérable et royale à la fois, elle m’a bluffée 🫰🏻. Jung Ji-woon, le médecin dévoué, c’est la douceur incarnée, et son dilemme amoureux m’a fait palpiter 💖. Et puis Lee Hyun, le cousin loyal, tellement touchant avec ses sentiments sincères pour Hwi… 🥹. J’ai adoré que lui et Ji-woon restent amis malgré leurs amour en commun, ça aurait pu virer au cliché mais non 💘. Sans oublier Shin So-eun, Noh Ha-kyung ou Kim Ga-on, chacun ajoute ses nuances, ses ambitions, ses rivalités… bref, un vrai puzzle humain où chaque pièce compte ⚔️💅🏻
Après, pour être honnêtes 😅, 20 épisodes !!! c’était trop. À force de répéter les mêmes intrigues politiques, le souffle du début s’est un peu essoufflé, et je me suis parfois surprise à décrocher 😴. Clairement, en 16 épisodes plus resserrés, le drama aurait gagné en intensité.
Et la fin… oui, on a droit à un vrai happy ending (assez rare pour un sageuk 🥳). Les deux derniers épisodes m’ont plu, mais tout est allé un peu trop vite... Dommage que les longueurs du milieu n’aient pas été coupées pour laisser plus de place à une conclusion forte et plus développée 🥲
Malgré ça, j’ai vraiment passé un super moment 👍🏻. "The King’s Affection" réussit à mélanger romance, complots et émotions avec une identité bien à lui 🫶🏻. C'est un drama qui m’a accrochée jusqu’au bout, et que je garderai en mémoire pour son originalité et ses vibes uniques 💕✌🏻

10/10 I can't believe only 29 reviews so farI've just finished watching this series for the second time, and I think I may wait a few days and start it all over again.
What a beautiful show. I sobbed like a baby just now in the ending, even though I saw it the first time a few weeks ago.
The show is just simply beautiful, wonderful, exhilarating and many more adjectives.
I loved all the leads, despised none except the grandfather, but he was acted exceptionally as well.
I fell in love with the king (the prince/princess), Royal Scribe Jung, her love interest. Oh my that I was years younger and in Korea! As the crown prince/king, the female lead was wonderful. Her expressions, her mannerisms, everything was so well acted! And Scribe Jung - so handsome, and when he blushes or looks at her with love, you just want to melt.
The acting overall was superb, and I cannot tell when I last enjoyed a show like this. I watch a lot of Netflix shows, I even watched Squid, and I watched Bridgerton twice, but I am in love with the King's Affection and have really been blown away.
I gave this 10 stars and if I could have given it 20 l would. If you haven't watched this yet, and you love a good story with good drama, romance, love, action, fighting and excitement, then put this as top priority on your list, and then come back and write about it. I'm reading every review! I can't get enough of this show.

PODIA SER MUITO MELHOR
Fiquei admirada com a atuação da protagonista, ele entrou tanto no personagem que quando eu contava para os outros eu ficava falando "Aí o príncipe, quer dizer, a princesa... A protagonista vestida de príncipe", com certeza o melhor da série é ela. Sei que a vibe dela é toda série por conta de ser forçada a ser um menino quase toda a vida, mas achei que faltou algum momento "feminino" dela sabe? Um olhar, uma risada, não sei... Algum momento onde por um instante ela pudesse ser ela mesma, no final tivemos um pouco disso mas foi tão rápido.Não houve um plot na história para agitar as coisas, não ri muito nem chorei, nesse quesito de emoção achei morno. Os secundários não despertam tanta atenção. Me apaixonei demaaaais pela esposa do principe/princesa hahahahaha... Ela é toda fora do padrão, engraçada, livre e apaixonada. Fiquei triste que no final não acharam um cara top para ela. Gostei do final, achei ele bem crível com a realidade do dorama, mas não fiquei com saudade.

No me convenció el romance
HistoriaLa mire porque quería ver una historia en que una chica se viste de chico (ocultación de identidades) siempre me parecieron interesantes. Pero esto, se me hizo un poco cansino. Lo sentí muy irreal que el prota se enamorara muy rápido de la prota, digo me gusto que se enamore aún si fuera un chico, pero no me gustó como lo manejaron, se me hizo agotador el romance, y que el chico la persiguiera como un cachorrito.
Actuación/elenco
Es el segundo drama que Rowoon no me gusta, quizás algún día lo encuentre en otro k-drama y ame su papel. La prota neutral. En resumen, No me gustaron mucho los protas. Ame a los niños, más que los principales. Hasta llegue a punto que quería que la historia sea desde el punto de los niños. Eso es terriblemente malo para mí disfrute.
Musica
La canción de Lyn, hace que no diga que no valió la pena mirarla.

Dramma dolce e sensibile!
Questo dramma storico fa innamorare e amare follemente i protagonisti, sono così bravi e la storia è dolce, dolorosa e sentimentale.Racconta di una ragazza che dovrà fingersi ragazzo per diventare re in un epoca storica complicata. Poi però i protagonisti si conosceranno si innamoreranno pian piano e sarà un amore così dolce e bello che diventerà indimenticabile.
Sicuramente da vedere anche se non amate particolarmente i drama storici.

uma obra, porém….
A história é realmente muito interessante e te faz querer assistir sem parar pra ver o que vai acontecer. Porém… sempre tem um porém , rsrsrs. Por que os roteiristas insistem em fazer dramas de romance principalmente proibido, e reservam os 10 min finais da série pra mostrar felicidade deles?! Nossa como isso é irritante. Deveria ser um episódio inteiro mostrando isso, pois qd se tem romance , o mínimo que se espera afinal é isso.Dito isto, sorri muitos na primeira metade do drama com o prota se aceitando gay kkkkkk e ainda shipei ela com o primo , que era um fofo 🥰 q
